They still have some big wrenches in Cersei, Littlefinger, and Euron. Each one of them probably gets to fuck up at least one big thing for everyone else. And there's always the possibility that something goes wrong between Jon and Dany and they end up fighting.

I'm really hoping they take the amount of time, and focus, they have to build Euron into something more than your average Ironborn dreg.

I don't see LSH happening. I see Arya (given the direction they're taking her) meeting up with BwB and handling some of the LSH vengeance stuff. I could see Arya dying next season, TBH.

Something has to happen with the dragons. Otherwise I agree that Dany is OP. Could be the dragonhorn, or the ice dragon, comes in to mix this up.

I dislike the Arya thing more and more as I think about it. In a vacuum the idea is awesome, it's something that I should be cheering for, but I just feel cheated by it.

We watch two seasons of endless scenes with Arya sitting around doing nothing in Braavos, and once she finally leaves, she just magically appears killing Frey as a shock moment? This is a character I want to follow, I want to see her journey! She's had her long and boring magical assassin training, so now I want to go see her go back home, figure out what she's going to do, make a plan, execute it, all that good stuff. Instead all of that is skipped in favor of a "surprise" moment that felt so out of left field I honestly wondered if it was a dream sequence at first.

I wonder if Ep 1 of next season will have Dany landing in Westeros, or will she be at Sea all fucking season.

I feel like they just tacked on the LSH story from the books to Arya to give her something to do til her endgame arc kicks in. I think she will have a frodo role and end up dying either as Jons nissa nissa or assissinating the nights king or high level lieutenant

Euron will offer his fleet to Cersie, a sea battle will wipe out most of the Dothrakis and some of the Unsullied. Dany will have to form an alliance with the North and head to Kings Landing for the final battle before the zombies attack.

Most likely that was just locations being close by. Spain for instance is usedt o film both Dorne and Mereen scenes, so even though the stories don't intersect the actors will be in the same place.

i could see the Night King unveiling an ice dragon at a pivotal moment in the final season. seems like the type of shocking grand event that the show likes to go for.

euron, out of nowhere, breaking out a magic horn to control dragons would feel like such a cheap attempt to de-power dany. i really can't see it happening. i don't even like it in the book's universe, and in the show's it would be even worse

I think Dany will have to fight Euron on the sea. His relatives are still a threat and he has the dragon horn so it's possible he wants them for his own.
Both have a great armada of ships and the battle will cause many deaths, possibly killing way more Dothraki than she can fear which will make her making friends with Westeros people.

I still think it's pretty stupid that all those Martell and Tyrell ships sailed to Meereen, only to turn their ships 180 degrees so they could sail back again.

Tyrion specifically says they have "almost" enough ships with the Ironborn and Slavers fleets. The Martell and Tyrell ships were needed for the rest (and to set up a season-ending cool shot).

True... But if he revealed he had Dragonbinder, what would stop Yara and Theon telling Dany about it. I kind of like the idea of him keeping his secrets for now, and revealing it at a more opportune time.

I don't agree, they totally do. the failures of the tv show have been relation to as a tv show nothing to do with the quality of the books. Either way this episode was great.

The best parts of the past couple episodes is that they involved events of direct consequence to the core story. Books 4 and 5 don't have much in that regard, way too much travel, mediocre world building, and extra characters . It's like the writers knew they couldn't directly translate that material so they took it in different directions to try and fill episodes and it didn't work out. Best course of action would have been to just combine those books into one season and get through it but I'm not sure if that's what HBO wanted.

Hopefully that is all done and we get nothing but pure story going forward.

The writers said in the "Inside the Episode" of "The Door" back in May that GRRM gave them three "Holy shit" moments that were going to happen in the story. One was Shireen's burning, the second was Hodor's name being a derivative of "Hold the Door", and the third was something that would be at the very end.

I think for some characters, it will be a fitting or satisfying end, but I think a lot of characters are not going to find such happy conclusions. I except things to be both triumphant and also devastating, when all is said and done.

I think the TV series gets a happy ending (well, with some bittersweet elements), but the books will get a completely bittersweet ending (with evil being stopped, but most things left in ruin, and many dead).

But the parallel potential there you could have with Jon sending away an ally because she murdered an innocent young girl and Dany refusing Dorne because they murdered an innocent young girl seems extremely obvious to me.
