Good for them for putting this out. Don't kowtow to anyone. I'll probably need to upgrade my rig tho.
I understand what you mean. But, you're misunderstanding what a critique is, especially a fair one. But yeah, you do you, I guess. I agree to disagree.Whatever dude I lost enough time with this. If you don't want to understand what I mean, you wont for sure. Have a nice day.
The condescension is very strong here I see. But it goes with the person I suppose.
"lmao"
I mean, sure, maybe a bit over the top, but that shit happens in game development. That doesn't mean he hates the game (and he has said as much). It's a comment and critique on the industry at large. And, again, as I've said in the past in this thread, is a very fair one. I don't know how else to explain it other than that.Probably the comment about it never coming out. And complaining about unfinished aspects of an unfinished game.
Idk about that, the UE5 matrix demo had consoles stuttering way beneath 30fps and even that didn't look as photorealistic as this. Maybe you're right about "precomputed lighting" though, idk.It will run on consoles just fine, keep in mind that all lighting is already precomputed into the environment and consoles nowadays have plenty of VRAM for that.
It would be fair if it was nearing release. Save critiques for art design, level design, etc.I understand what you mean. But, you're misunderstanding what a critique is, especially a fair one. But yeah, you do you, I guess. I agree to disagree.

He did. And people got bent out of shape about it. Either way, I'm done discussing this. I've made my points. It would be fair if it was nearing release. Save critiques for art design, level design, etc.
????????????????very shit.
1. you play a cop(ACAB?)
4. this whole bodycam approach is basically "postal/manhunt-hype but in 2023"
No he didn’t. Lying doesn’t make something true. Grow up.He did. And people got bent out of shape about it. Either way, I'm done discussing this. I've made my points.
Its not on rails but its completely photoscanned meaning you cannot interact with any objectives like the barrelsFinally the experts can stfu about it, from on rails to fmv to whatever made up crap, lol. Or will they find some new goal posts?

The bolded is what I'm talking about. These are his critiques, which I believe are small critiques. I don't care what y'all call them, but to me these are critiques. No he didn’t. Lying doesn’t make something true. Grow up.
Edit: here’s the text.
“It looks very realistic/photorealistic, but lightning is still rough. No RT, no shadows in the characters, lacking AO. Some furniture objects have very low geometry, like the final coach, which is basically a cube, and enemies are not that good.
The studio doesn't have publisher or money, so don't expect this to be released soon (or ever).”
The bolded is about a game far from release. If it was coming out in 3 months I would agree. It currently has no release date. The bolded is what I'm talking about. These are his critiques, which I believe are small critiques. I don't care what y'all call them, but to me these are critiques.
The other part is his opinion on it's eventual release. That, of which, I do not agree with.
There is nothing here that I am lying about and is just a matter of opinion. I have stated that I agree to disagree, so please drop it.
Great, very happy for you.The bolded is about a game far from release. If it was coming out in 3 months I would agree. It currently has no release date.
It could also be bull crap and the final game will look worse. I will wait until near release to make any technical judgement.
It's just standard FPS with fisheye camera. Since when body cam is mounted in line of aiming devices?
There are imperfections in the animationsOk. Still doesnt explain the VR movement of the hands. How is the mouse and keyboard creating such a smooth animation transition?
At one point, he brings the gun up to his chest. how did he do that?
I want to believe so bad, but this shits on every game made by all these fancy AAA devs over at Naughty Dog, Rockstar and CD project. I have seen demos with photorealistic assets but this captures the atmosphere so well that its almost too realistic. Matrix still looks like a video game compared to this.

Ooh, imagine a horror game that uses these techniques. Might cause actual psychological damage!
Replica Assassins are traumatic enoughWhat if ....
F.E.A.R VR with those graphics?
This. Also it will probably have a massive install size to bute.It will run on consoles just fine, keep in mind that all lighting is already precomputed into the environment and consoles nowadays have plenty of VRAM for that.
Looks cool but it will probably run at like 25fps on consoles. If it is even able to run on consoles.
Lets just wait until 10th gen for these graphics so we don't go back to 30fps and lower being the norm.
Pretty sure it would have to come with a Hazard Warning. What if ....
F.E.A.R VR with those graphics?
Id also add theres a big difference between photogrametry objects scanned in different locations bashed together and something like this where the entire scene is scanned at a real location at the same time making the baked lighting on everything unified. File size must be huge.Just bear in mind that the result here is the product of a whole bunch of "best of"-cases when it comes to presenting as photo-realistically as possible.
Overcast skies so the flatness of the lighting is extra convincing, tons of rigid inorganic surfaces (as per the Matrix demo, no animation), minimal vegetation, and of course the whole image is full-screen filtered and distorted for the faux-verite bodycam look.
I stress, this is not to talk down the effect, which is impressive. Just to point out its careful to avoid things that would break the illusion of reality.
Yep I screen grabed that shit."Art cannot fight against interpretation."
this game is like Driveclub.
it uses a specific effect to hide the fact that the graphics underneath are basically super generic and not that impressive.
this could easily run on last gen even.
DriveClub did it by relying on rain and motion blur to hide how shit it looked, and this game does it by having fisheye distortion, a shaky cam, and body cam typical video filters.
Some people still think it's fake because of the quality. No it's definitely not. But fluid movement gameplay similar to cod and others is simply impossible with this style. Here is another impressive UE5 demo with true photorealism.
Those are videos though and really limited, you can turn your head and peek into a little, but the immersion goes away really fast because you know it's a video, not just porn videos though. You know those fake VR porn that wrap around your vision to create immersion ? Well yea this looks like it
They are way more than “good enough” for an indie studio. That’s grossly understating what they’ve managed to show us.Wow, is there a reason why you seems against this game? Of course early gameplay won't look perfect but what I'm seeing here is very promising.
Btw graphics are good enough for an indie studio.
