Not sure on how likely it is on Uppers get brought across now, but I hope it does get released outside of Japan as while it has its fair share of problems, I'm actually really enjoying it.
The combat is pretty bare bones, you have just enough moves that it isn't spamming the square button endlessly, but you could probably play the game that way if you wanted to. The challenges add the extra meat to the game that unless you can read Japanese or are using a guide its just a case of guessing the right move to use in any given challenge. I'm only using a guide for reference when stuck, but its fairly easy to figure out. Its far more fun using all the moves and environmental attacks in my opinion - sending someone flying who then smashes through a wall, then you chase after him and continue on with the brawl (maybe smashing a desk or two over his head for good measure) feels pretty fun, as are the finisher moves which are basically hit circle in the glowing area to do a silly finishing move on an enemy (send them through the floor, into a neon sign, into a helicopter etc.)
My main issue remains with the games difficulty, I think hard mode should be normal difficulty and hard mode be harder still. Its early days for me (chapter 2) but I still feel like it should be harder, doing flashy yet shallow combos and attacks will eventually get boring and I'm hoping the difficulty is there to provide me with enough challenge to see me through to the end, else it'll be like Warriors Orochi 3 where I'm insanely overpowered and nothing is a challenge anymore.
Oh, and the characters really could have used more variety in moves lists, as they are all the same (but the attacks look different). Basically it feels like a very old 2D side scrolling brawler, except without the brutal challenge you'd usually expect. Perfect pick up and play game though, missions aren't overly long so I can play a few when I have the odd 30 minutes free.
