Upcoming Vita Games (OVER ~350 games with screens inside!) || 2015 Edition ||

I hope this is the right thread to post this, and I did not want to create a new thread. And hopefully, someone with experience can help me out. Sorry, this is going to be long, I'm sharing my experience so far with an error known as c2-12828-1.

__________________________________

So roughly 1 1/2 years ago, I finally upgraded from a 8GB memory card to a 32GB memory card. Imported it directly from Japan since that saved me around 20 bucks compared to local prices. Otherwise, it was a perfectly new unused original product.

Anyway, some time after that, games started crashing with error code c2-12828-1. I think, not sure, it started off with Wipeout 2048 (retail version, but with HD and Fury DLC installed) but it began to also show up in other games, mostly download games such as OlliOlli, Hotline Miami, Senran Kagura Bon Appetit (..yeah, I know), Metal Slug 3, Guacamelee and a few times on other retail games. At first it was only a small annoyance, popping up every few weeks. Until it got to a point where certain games would hang up on c2-12828-1 when starting them several times/day.

I researched this c2-12828-1 problem and found various different opinions on what it does and why it happens...

- Some say it has to do with network settings, so I tried to use flight mode and changed some options on my WLAN router. Did not help, it happend even if fully offline.

- Others said it is an internal issue with offset user DRM stuff and I should reset and restore my system settings. Tried that, but the problem reoccured. Tried to backup all data on my computer and put the Vita into factory settings after formatting the 32GB mem card. After the reinstall, it worked... for a few weeks. Then, c2-12828-1 came back ofc.

- Another source said the game data might be corrupted and a backup from the computer might just put the corrupted data back on the PS Vita. Instead, one should get PS+, put all save states into the cloud, put PS Vita and memory card back to factory settings and reinstall every single thing by hand and download the save states from PSN.
I waited some time to do that because that seemed like a lot of hassle (PS Vita is one of my favorite systems so I own a lot of games on it) but 3 weeks ago I used my sunday afternoon to get PS+ and do all that.
It worked... until today, when after a few weeks of Suikoden and Steins;Gate I decided to play Wipeout 2048 again. C2-12828-1 appeared once today... all other games work fine and Wipeout also still works fine after a restart.

____________________________________

... So I finally decide to call up Sony support and ask them directly for help. First up, German support, they're really friendly and the person tried his best to help me out. Sony apparently does not have an official data entry on c2-12828-1 so he had to check up the community boards as well where other people noted the error. After talking about what I had already tried, he suggested I try the following things and also report back to Sony support afterwards:

- use my 8GB card for a longer while with a save from PS+ to check up if this works without failure. If it doesn't happen, it's probably a broken 32GB card. If it does happen it might be corrupted save data or a broken PS Vita system so I should...
- ... also try to find a friend who also has a PS Vita and try out my memory cards on his/her system to find out if it is corrupted data or a broken PS Vita system.

____________________________________

Now I will try to play a bit with my 8GB card (though good luck waiting for a random mistake to happen or not happen :O), but I do not know many people with a PS Vita personally so the second step is probably more difficult.

So I thought I'll also share this story with GAF (where I also read about c2-12828-1 before in some old 2012/13 thread I think) and maybe someone who went through that error code did solve the problem. PS Vita is one of my favorite current gaming systems and I really want to be at ease playing some longer games again... currently I feel a bit ambivalent towards picking up some of the upcoming JRPGs because at this point I've got either
- corrupted save data (which would mean loosing lots of time and game progress)
- broken 32GB mem card (which would mean loosing lots of money) or (worst case)
- broken PS Vita system (which would mean loosing a lot more money and also probably loosing that OLED screen because of the newer models available. I don't buy used if I can avoid it.).

I really just want to go back to fully enjoy the system... so yeah, there it is :) I hope someone here on GAF maybe knows what's up with c2-12828-1! Hug your PS Vitas and enjoy them when they work perfectly, I hope I can go back to fully enjoy the system again as well!

edit:
It might come off as if Wipeout 2048 could be the problem here because if first occured with Wipeout and now occured again with Wipeout... but after my first complete reinstall with the backup from my computer, it wasn't Wipeout which started c2-12828-1 again and also, Wipeout 2048 was my very first PS Vita game and it worked perfectly fine on my 8GB mem card and I also played like 30 minutes of Wipeout 2048 on my 8GB mem card this afternoon with my current save without problems yet. So... ehm, yeah. Just thought I mention this as some additional info on my situation.

Just finished the one week free trial of PSNow on Vita and I have to say, I'm impressed.

Sure, there's a little bit of latency and lag here and there, but overall, I was pretty blown away to play The Last of Us and some GOW HD. As someone who never owned a PS3/4, PSNow is a pretty good option to extend the life of the system... and to play games I would otherwise never have a chance to play.

If only they cut the $19.99 subscription price. For an everyday player, I think the price is fine... but for someone like me who plays maybe 3-4 hours a week, it's too expensive.

Anyone else using the service on their Vita?

Here it is folks. Finally the true Vita GOTY has arrived. We are not worthy.

Buy this gem.

Honestly, it doesn't look that bad :).

It has frame-rate issues (shown a few times during combat sections) but the core platforming elements seem to be very smooth.

The art style pops out nicely on the Vita screen and it reminds me a bit of Ratchet (mix of platforming and shooting). Not expecting a perfect game or anything, but its nice that this developer (who mainly made 2D platformers) is making a 3D action/platformer for a change :D.

Hope it turns out okay and if it is a good price on NA PSN (20 bucks) I might consider picking it up :).

They (Virtual Toys) ported the previous Phineas & Ferb game to PSP (that was originally developed for PS3/Wii by High Impact Games, of Ratchet: Size Matters fame). This game looks oddly similar to that, so I guess they learned a few things from it.

It says a lot about how shitty SCE WWS is that a small branch of SCEE can fund Vita exclusive games while the rest can't even do multi-plats.

I was thinking before how ridiculous it is that not a single first party studio has worked on a Vita game since 2014... I suppose there's San Diego Studio with MLB, but isn't that just a roster update at this point?

Like out of 14 studios (of which a lot have multiple teams), we only get second party developed games. Barely any of those at this point too.

I wonder how SCE Iberia can get away with funding all this exclusive Vita stuff and barely anyone else is allowed to touch the machine outside of Gio Corsi.

Continuing in DJ Max's tradition, South Korea is getting some Superbeat spoils:

Apparently the west is going to get an LE too, but I wouldn't expect anything that nice.

Spain and Portugal being Sonyland probably affords that branch some degree of autonomy. The Vita games (and the PSP ones before it) are probably low budget enough for them to get the go ahead. It's a reminder of the past when SCE acted more like a local publisher.

I guess the success in that area does help, yeah. But these games are still getting put out at retail in Europe as a whole, something SCEE somehow couldn't manage for Oreshika/Resident Evil and barely managed for Freedom Wars.

I also find it hard to believe that no other Sony studios don't just work on a little Vita side project here and there, like Ubisoft Reflections did with Grow Home. Do those all get shut down by Shu?

I suppose xDev are the other bit I forget about, they do alright with supporting Vita and they haven't had any trade shows yet (as it's normally Gamescom for them). They don't do a whole lot but they do seem to throw in the odd low budget Vita game every now and again (i.e. Hungry Horde).

Those Superbeat collectors editions look really nice. Pity that we probably won't get them over here in Europe else I'd probably grab one. I'm still tempted to get a third Vita (maybe a red or blue one) as those look really nice.

AC:C, XCOM and Civ Rev 2: the worst kept secrets in Vita gaming.

I'm looking forward to them getting announced but I hope there are some actual surprises coming too at PGW/PSX or where ever they finally admit these games exist.

Ha, it is you (I've just noticed the username too).

I could see a localization surprise happening. Maybe Phantasy Star Nova since Sony & SEGA are working together on Yakuza 5, so it's possible.

What I'm hopeful for is that XCOM; Civ & Assassin's Creed aren't actually funded by Sony, but rather something they encouraged the publisher to do (like with Disney Infinity 2.0). Climax Studios (developers of AC) have made a couple of Vita games, so it'd be an easy port for them. Civ & XCOM are just phone ports so again fairly easy to do in house.

If so, that'd leave Sony open to do another port job like they did with Borderlands and Resident Evil (which won't be to everyone's tastes, but I for one am really glad they ported those games), so that could be a nice surprise too.

But yeah, as I said on the other forum to you, if you'd said in January we'd be getting 3 ports announced at PSX, I'd have said no chance. Now we've got 3 all but confirmed and I want more in the form of a few extra surprises :p

I've just noticed that they have corrected the price of Heroes of Loot to £2.49 on the UK PSN store if anyone was waiting for that, I know I was!

Oh shit, i've been found out :p

But seriously I completely agree. Seems almost greedy wanting more, but since we already know of these games it wont be that exciting to see them announced. Following the theme some of those games (xcom + civ rev), I can think of a bunch of mobile ports that would be great for vita.

Yeah, I was really hopeful something would happen with God Eater 2 when Gods Eater Burst went up as a PS+ game. Instead nothing. I'm happy with Toukiden but Gods Eater burst was my favorite hunting game on the PSP.

Maybe something will happen when the anime gets announced for localization?

You mean dubbed? Because the anime was aired simultaneously with Japan, with English subtitles. Now, because of production issues the project stopped on episode 9, and still has 4 episodes to go which will be aired in the Winter. So in my opinion they just didn't announce it at all. Heck, they were even at the Anime Expo this year for this show, but didn't make the announcement. I've kinda lost hope already.

That is one beautiful looking cover. Do EU and NA peasants get that one too?

Beautiful indeed.
I really do hope we get it. Civ has been a favourite series of mine. Got kinda miffed with V and kinda skipped everything since then and now I barely have time to play this on PC so really hoping it comes and plays well :)

Copying my post from the SAO HR announcement thread:

Awesome news, looks like Hollow Fragment's skill pallette will be back, also other interesting details in the link:

Regarding the development concept…

Futami: “We wanted to make a game where Kirito starts from Level 1 at the beginning. That’s the kind of concept it is.”

Hirayae: “We want people to play in the world of the early days of Sword Art Online and then gradually start to feel like something is off as they progress.”

Futami: “The setting looks like Aincrad, but as a matter of fact, it’s a different world. It’s a world where everything is connected buy adjoining land, not a world divided into different layers.”

How are the action elements compared to Lost Song?

Hirayae: “You’ll fight and raid using a skill palette, and there are a number of management elements where you can direct your party members and such. One of the main features of the system is how these action and management elements coexist. Unlike Hollow Fragment, this time, you can take along up to three people. For example, one person could raise the toss, the second person could use a sword skill, the third person could restrain the enemy, and finally Kirito can deliver the finishing blow.

Regarding the heroine…

Futami: “She’s about 14 years old. The heroine is an AI character, and that AI will develop as she adventures with Kirito and friends.”

Glad to see another couple of physical games announced on the Vita, I'll have to give both of those a try when they are released.

I've given Super Meat Boy a try. Bar one odd audio glitch it seems perfect, this time I'll hopefully finish the damn game (ended up stopping right at the end of the 360 version). Trophy list is hard as nails though!

I really struggled to get into the game and ended up abandoning it. It's just so incredibly clunky.

That said, I am a very small minority and other people love the game. Maybe watch a let's play for a bit to see if the game will resonate with you.

I did watch a bit but I'm not all that big on JRPGs... The story seems pretty good. Though I guess I will save up for Danganronpa Another Episode first instead. P4G's idea of immersing myself in a world is attractive to me.

Thanks for the post in here about our company!

Super excited to roll this out at the end of the month!

I'm super excited to buy it. Are you limiting quantities, at least initially? I'd hate to miss out because some ebay store buys it all out while I'm sleeping or at work when it goes live. I'm almost complete with my physical NA vita collection, but stuff like this has the potential to totally crush my hopes and dreams.

I know there will be international shipping, but do you have an idea for how much? Last time there was a limited print, like for RCR DX, it was over U$30 for my country and I just had to skip it.

I'd like to know about this as well, as I'll be importing the game as well so I'd like to get an idea how much shipping (to the UK) would cost.

Thanks for all the questions!

International shipping, I don't have a price yet, but we will try and make it reasonable!

As far as bulk buyers, the idea is to sell out as fast as we can, however we don't want it to be unfair to people who actually want to own the game not just resale it later. So there will be some restrictions on how many people can buy. We haven't worked all that out but there will be something in place to keep that from happening.

Appreciate it. As a long time Vita collector from overseas, the most important things when buying games are shipping price and offering a tracking code for the package. The latter stops me from importing anything from the UK, for an example.

I understand completely the want to sell it all quickly. You are a business, not a charity. I do think it is helpful to strike a balance between cultivating a strong fan base and making a quick buck too. I really appreciate the way Victor Ireland does their limited runs. You have a presale period and produce enough for all the fans to get a copy plus whatever excess you think you can sell afterwards. Keeps you from sitting on stock and keeps your fans invested in your next release.

We will definitely find a balance, and will be doing pre-orders as well. We will also have larger prints for certain games.

Thanks, I appreciate that you're thinking of stuff like that. In case I'm not conveying it properly, I think what you're doing is awesome and hope you find enough success to keep releasing physical vita carts!

Without announcing anything, do you have any more releases lined up?

What is the turnaround time on carts? Are they made in the US?
