Upcoming Vita Games (OVER ~350 games with screens inside!) || 2015 Edition ||

Danganronpa AE is as clunky as I expected and the antagonists are so grating on my nerves ugggh
I hope shit gets dark REAL quick. It's VERY dull so far (that's in part because I watched up to most of Chapter 1, though)

But hey, I bought Samurai Warriors 4 too and I have Persona 4 Golden to play, so it's not too big a deal (except being a disappointing canon installment in my #2 franchise)

I just saw on Twitter that Dust: An Elysian Tail could come to Vita if Sickhead Games (a diligent Vita port studio) was available to do it. Consider tweeting them if you're interested.

@NoogyTweets is the game creator.
@Sickhead is the port studio.

I have always wanted this game on the Vita.

I also tweet about a Valiant Hearts port every few months. I'll never give up on that. Here's this month's tweet if you want to show some love: https://twitter.com/ffireworker/status/680949223781744640

Is Saturday Morning RPG coming to Vita seeing as LRG are releasing a physical cart of it? Or is is already available on Vita somewhere?

Dust is such an amazing (and beautiful) game. I think my eyes would melt if I tried playing that game on my OLED vita! I'd love a port of that (and Valiant Hearts now you mention it!)

Dust on Vita would kill me.

I went through the list in the opening post and saw over two dozen games that I'd love to buy, and that's on top of my 50+ game library for the console. The Vita gets so much shit for not having "big" Western AAA games on it, while it has one of the most varied and strong libraries in a long time. I feel like people wouldn't be satisfied if more Western games came to it anyway, as the console really isn't powerful enough for open world games. Many of the big titles they produced in their first push (Wipeout, etc.) barely run as it is.

The Vita is the perfect companion console for anyone who is able to have an open mind towards gaming and is also willing to try things outside of the mainstream. If an indie comes out on Steam, I often try it out on there but always play it much more on the Vita. The ability to have full console and/or PC indies is something that most gamers are really sleeping on these days. The indies that it offers often get tons of hate for being "small" or "something my Game Boy could play", but I'd say most of them are the highest quality indie games out there. While Steam has far too many indie games of low to mediocre quality (which is probably why Steam's lack of a solid curation process is the root of all this unwarratned hate), the Vita only gets the cream of the crop in most cases. I've been playing through Shovel Knight and Nuclear Throne when I'm away from home, and I specifically held off buying those titles on Steam since I know they'd get a lot more love when I'm away from the computer. The only downside is that my 64 GB card is full and I won't have space for all these great games!

What ended up being wrong with the port of Bastion? I skipped out on the $3 sale since I played through the game once on PC and didn't feel like it would get beaten again on Vita. Nuclear Throne is prone to really bad performance hitches which can potentially kill a run, so I've held off on playing it for a while. Also, are there any updates on the status of Downwell, Assault Android Cactus and Necrodancer on Vita?

I thought it was an ok port? I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now, almost done with my Game + run. It has a few frame rate issues here and there but not game breaking by any means. I've been really enjoying it. I've not even touched my PC copy of Bastion, I've not even installed it! I tend to prefer playing indies on my Vita for some strange reason, even though I owned them on other platforms and they usually run better on PC etc. - The Swapper for example I got when it was initially released on the PC but gave up on it quickly.
Then I got the Vita version on release day and enjoyed the heck out of it, it ended up being one of my favourite indies for the system.

Nothing actually, if you call 30fps lock a bad thing then I guess that's one.

The game's HUD is a bit on the small side, a problem I found with Trails of Cold steel too.

But I finished Bastion on the Vita and I don't regret getting it, especially not with the 3 dollar price.

I finished the original on the 360 too. The Vita port holds up well, but of course it would be considered inferior when compared to it's big screen counterparts

Guys, 2016 *has* to be the year I try to assault my Vita backlog (around 120 games IIRC)...I may need some help with selecting what to play and when. I'll post my list of games before the year is out and any help would be much appreciated.

Anybody else in a similar boat?

I'm very much in a similar boat. I've amassed such a collection of physical and digital Vita titles (and still want more) that I really need to play through more of them in 2016. My issue (apart from buying so many) is wanting to try and 100% them so it takes me longer than usual to complete each game...

I'm similar! If I like a game, I want to 100% it, or get as close to doing so as I can. I did it earlier this year with The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Guacamelee! and Rogue Legacy, so I know I CAN do it, it's just getting past the huge, daunting backlog.

I think what I'm going to do is delete all the games currently on my PS Vita, and load onto it the games in my backlog, one letter at a time. So first up, we have...

Code:
Big Sky Infinity
Black Knight Sword
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
Broken Age

(None beginning with A, which is weird!)

If I enjoy a game after an hour or so, I'll stick with it. If not, I'll move on to the next one.

Sounds like a good plan, I really need to commit to doing something similar. At the moment I've been going by my trophy lists and finding the games that have been on my Vita the longest that I've not finished and then working on those. Seems to be working fairly well so far.

I did try Badland GOTY edition a couple of days back but it left a really negative impression on me. I hated the controls/forced scrolling so I went back to Bastion. I might give it another shot in the future, but I'm reminded of why I hate physics based games like that (another example being Angry Birds, which I tired of real quick).

I have Persona 4 Golden to finish. Then I have Samurai Warriors 4 and Soul Sacrifice. Planning to get P3P too. Gotta play Planescape Torment on PC.

Man I feel ya.

Just how did they manage to turn Fukawa into a decent person (DR:AE CH1 spoilers)

also goddamn, I didn't expect THAT to happen to Yuta. This really is the darkest DR.

Just introduce relatives of already dead characters already, geez. We know enough of the DR1 survivor cast already.

Liking the OST more than I thought I would and I think I'm starting to feel the game's own charm. The art somehow grew on me and the character models are nice.

As we have just proven again with the rescue of The Banner Saga, many Vita games come to fruition because of the dedication of fans. Vita games can be risky to make, and expensive when trouble arises, and indie studios who support us need our support too.

I am sure that, if not for our encouragement and enthusiasm, we would not have gotten a rebuilt version of Teslagrad. The Banner Saga would not have been rescued in the eleventh hour. Bastion and Axiom Verge would have been shelved months ago. When we, as fans, are presented with an opportunity to show support to the people who support our system, I think it's really great of us to do it.

It also shows that, even though "Vita is dead", it is absolutely not. Vita isn't dead, Vita is different.™

And we are that difference.

I think Dust AET would be so great. So, I will tweet. And tweet and tweet and post and tweet. Maybe nothing will ever happen. But maybe it will!

Likewise, I'll try doing the same. Can't lose anything by trying right?

Incidently, is there any news on Axiom Verge Vita? I'm so close to just buying the PS4 version anyway as I really want to play the game, and I'm on a real indie kick at the moment.

Speaking of which, after really enjoying the PS4 version of Giana Sisters, I wouldn't say no to a Vita port of that either...

Ask not what your Vita can do for you, but what you can do for your Vita.

Tom Happ says he's expecting Axiom Verge to finish in January. So an early February release, or even IN January, is not out of the question.

They had to, like Teslagrad and Bastion, basically remake the game to get it to work.

Oh yeah, I am definitely in the same boat. On my Vita I probably still have about 60 games or so that I haven't played, and a significant number of them are lengthy RPGs (Persona 4, Soul Sacrifice Delta, Freedom Wars, etc.) Between all of my platforms, my backlog is about 200 games deep.

2016 will be the year of the backlog for me! Well, that, and Final Fantasy. :D

I have 30-35 games on my backlog. Not nearly as bad as yours, but there's still probably 10-20 released games I want to buy, plus upcoming games(another 30ish of games I want though some are probably not coming anymore).

However I use my Vita a lot, it's probably my most used device. I've played 20 games this year, which is a big amount for me especially considering that this year I've even play a lot on PS3(which is my only other system I actively use along with 3DS), much much more than in the past years. At this rate it should last me 4 years more at least, and I'm perfectly fine with that, considering that Vita might be a "last of its kind"(though hopefully NXh will take Vita's legacy) I want it to last as long as possible.

I didn't realise they had to start all those games from scratch, that certainly explains the delay for Teslagrad. I'll have to grab the PS4 version of Axiom Verge then, I assume it'll be cross buy. While I'm at it I'll grab Volume since that's due out soon for the Vita. Gotta say, while the Vita ports might not always be as good as PS4 ports, I absolutely love that almost all devs do cross purchasing for games, its great value where I can grab a Vita game and have it playable on my PS4 (or PS3) as well.

Teslagrad had a physics engine that just didn't port right to the Vita, from what I understand. It was too demanding for optimizing to make a satisfactory difference in performance and it made more sense to rewrite that entire engine for Vita. So the Vita, I believe, has its own system-specific physics engine.

Axiom Verge and Bastion were built in an engine called MonoGame, and Sony was supposed to be working on a toolkit for Vita to make those ports possible. It's not clear to me what went wrong. I don't know if Sony dropped the ball and pulled the plug on those promised tools or if they just weren't any good. But both Axiom Verge and Bastion have taken as long as they did because, at some point during development, they simply abandoned the porting process and started over.

I don't know if they're on entirely new engines or if they found a way to port MonoGame to the system after all the trouble.

The Amiga Brotherhood
We should just keep this one running, imho.

That's what i said when the original thread was closed in favor of this 2015 edition, but since this thread is now a yearly one it makes sense to make a new one for the 2016.

I bet that Fady is already working on it :)

I think a new thread would be cool since we can probably keep it on the gaming side for a while until it's moved to community again. It seems like a lot of work so I could understand if Fady doesn't want to make one though.

I think having a 2016 thread is very important. If Fady doesn't want to make it, I understand that. Maintaining this thread is a huge undertaking. I would definitely try it if Fady wants to take a break.

Yeah, it will be available digitally around the end of January (currently slated for 1/26 in North America and most of South America, no EU date is locked yet).

Looks like "Signal to Noise," a rhythm rail shooter, is coming to Vita.

http://signaltonoisegame.com/

Also "Dex", a cyberpunk open-world platformer that looks very ambitious.

http://www.iplaypsvita.com/2015/12/30/cyperpunk-adventure-dex-coming-to-ps-vita-and-ps4-in-2016/

From same studio, there's also "Doryoku Way: Conflict", an R-Type like shooter.

Also, gotta get Children of Morta in that OP!

just finished P4G

I hate JRPGs.

This shit is my GOTY.

I fucking cried my eyes out during the last few cutscenes. To put it in perspective, I did not cry when my cousin died abruptly last October.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?!

Doesn't feel long at all! I can't believe I've clocked 70 hours into this, the last time I did that for a SP game was five years ago (Terraria).

No character cast I've ever seen lives up to this game. None.

Probably in my top 10 of all time now.

I will as soon as I can. I hope I don't get Persona burnout.

I totally understand the feeling. I tried re-playing Persona 3 FES and Portable after finishing 4 Golden... And I couldn't get into Persona 3. I can never finish the game since the cast and feel of the game never grew on me like the wacky characters and the Scooby Doo mystery vibe of Persona 4 did.

You just have to find another amazing game to play if the other Persona games don't live up to the Persona 4 experience.

I have a couple games to play before I'll even be able to play P3P anyways, I've got high expectations of Planescape Torment- its first hour was amazing.

What I'm worried about is that besides P3, there's no other game quite like Persona 4 out there.

I know that feeling. Honestly, there is nothing else like Persona 4, not even Persona 5 will be like it. Not even the spin offs for Persona 4 (Q and Dancing All Night) are anywhere near equal to Persona 4 Golden (e.g. personalities are dumbed down or exaggerated with no depth).

But...I have hopes for Persona 5 because it looks to be wacky as well and not completely serious like 99.5% of other RPGs out there right now.

However, I must say I've been enjoying Rogue Galaxy quite a bit. Not super amazing, but it's just fun to go through dungeons, grind, beat bosses, and continue the story.
