Uplay client update - clicking Store opens up Steam?

Hi GAF.

So I just opened up the Uplay client on my PC. It updated itself.

After updating:

- the store option from the main menu has vanished
- clicking the "Visit Shop" option from the game library opens up Steam and filters items down to "Ubisoft", which is partly logical except...

I am in the UK, there are no new Ubisoft games on Steam in the UK, because they removed them all recently.

WTF.

All new Ubi games are back on steam for me.

What the fuck is Ubisoft doing? Just in general. They took down games from steam, didn't put them back up, and are now redirecting to steam?

Probably a fallback

I can confirm this

There is no link to the uplay store anymore in the client and clicking on shop opens the steam client

Are you in the UK? I am and can't see them either.

This is hilarious though. "Our service is down, what the fuck should I do? I KNOW, USE STEAM". Why not, I dunno, use Steam if you can't get the infrastructure to handle every major release you do?

Germany. But they were removed here too not that long ago.

They confused Steam with Origin.

Can confirm, German uPlay "user" here. Not sure how to find the "Visit store" link, but Store tab is gone.

What an interesting turn of events. From removing their games from Steam (I know it was an error) to killing their store and linking straight to Steam instead.

What the fuck lol Ubiiiiiiii.

But hey, if they end up killing their store then.. thats a good thing. (not gonna happen tho :/)

Yeah it's been like this for a couple of days now here in the UK.
I only checked because I qualified and registered for a free copy of Assassins Creed Unity from NVIDIA, but I haven't received a download link yet. Assumed it'd appear in my uPlay account but nope!

The way I understand it, Ubi has restricted ALL THEIR SERVICES in favor of AC Unity main game network functionality.

Which is laughable, since they are also restricting their AC Unity companion app and performing micro-transactions.

What a shit storm, Ubi. Fuck your half-assed solutions.

Couldn't see a store link. Tried to download a demo and it opened up steam to confirm the download. Maybe they've just given up?

"Okay Fred, remove all our games from Steam"
"Done"
"Okay now make Uplay redirect everyone to Steam when they want to purchase something"
"But sir we just removed our games fro-
"Shhhhh let the money roll in..."

Click on "Games" from the main navigation. Then at the end of your games library there is an additional square entitled "Looking for games" with several clickable options in it. One of them is "Visit Shop".

Doing that opens steam store with a list of all Ubisoft games.

I saw this earlier today when I was attempting to pre-order Far Cry 4. I ended up having to use the UPlay web store to do my pre-order.
