What a great video. That reminds me, I need to get a USA scarf. Best place to do that? There's a ton of places out there if I'm googling, so if any of you have any suggestions for good designs at good prices, I'm in.

They sell them at the official mnt store, it's like $25 though. They do have all the qualification posters up though, so if you've got the cash...

Zusi and Besler of course. Nice to see Sinovic and Myers being giving an invite at least to camp. Not expecting them to be chosen for Brazil or even friendlies but I'm glad they are being looked at. Wasn't expecting Feilhaber but with the way he picked up his game this year, especially towards the end, I shouldn't be surprised.

One thing I loved about watching Benny play towards the end of the season was his ability to dribble towards the defense. He would pick up the ball in midfield and just take off. I am glad he got a call up.

To those who watch a lot of MLS, are any of these defenders being called in a potential answer at RB?

Still scared to death of Brad Evans having to mark Ronaldo in that all-important Portugal game...

Yedlin is young and fast but I still have questions about his technical skills. However I didn't watch him play a whole lot, so my perception is skewed. Myers, while speedy, isn't as fast. However, I'm slightly more confident about his skill. Myers really will have to have some chemistry with whoever is playing mid D or he will get eaten alive out there on his own. He works really well with Collin and he'll need that on the USMNT if he ever gets a real spot. That being said, I don't think either of them will be the answer this year. I didn't watch very many Rapids games so I can't speak an opinion about their Defensive calls ups.

For LB, I really like Sinovic as a player. Out of everyone else outside of Besler and Zusi, I wanted him to get a call up. I really feel like he could be in the conversation for the top spots at that position. Beasley makes up for bad positioning and miscues with his speed. Sinovic is much more solid and comfortable out there from what I've seen. As far as Harrington, I hated him when he was in KC. I've said this before here, but we used to call him Mikey the Match because he was always getting burned on plays. He just looked scared when the ball was at his feet and he had to dish it. After his move to Portland though, he really picked up his game and plays pretty solid and confident.

Myers has improved a lot since his debut especially with his crossing. As Askani notes no speed though. Seth physically is similar to Beasley without the speed. Both are competent fullbacks but I don't think they are the long term solution in those positions at the international level.

Harrington selection is just lol. I feel Yedlin and Klute out of all of them have the most room for growth and improvement and most gifted of the lot. They still have a lot to learn though.

I am happy some guys are seeing there first call up but I don't see any new name who can impress enough to make the world cup squad. But then again, someone can surprise me.

Interesting to see Alexander getting the call-up.

I think he's only brilliant in flashes, and nothing separates him from other MLS midfielders other than the fact that he's not afraid to use his weaker foot.

Guess that's the benefit of playing in a big-market team.

Yeah, he really picked up his game this year. Also, yay for him! :D

MLS Soccer Interview: Stabaek's Bob Bradley: Americans are always fighting for respect in Europe

Glad to see Mike Mcgee get the call up. He had a fantastic year after moving from the Galaxy to Chicago Fire. It's great to see good performance in the MLS get rewarded.

Not sure how he'll do on the international level, but he does possess the striker's 6th sense of knowing when to be at the right place at the right time. And he did play on the youth national teams.

What I like about Mcgee and Wondo is that they're both pure products from the MLS. They help give a sense of how far the league has come and also where we still need to get to.

The great thing about Magee is how versatile he is. I feel like he could slot in for essentially anyone on the national team and do a decent to good job there. Heck, if Howard gets red carded or something he could even pop back there, he did pretty awesomely when Ricketts/Saunders both left the game for Galaxy that one time.

hahaha he was awesome in goal.

Good to see that Sebastian Lletget got a start this morning for West Ham in the FA Cup, but they got crushed by Lichaj's Nottingham Forest 5-0. Lichaj came off early with a knock around the 60 minute mark.

Altidore started for Sunderland but did not score in a 3-1 win over Carlisle.

First vid from the Jan camp from US Soccer: U.S. Men's National Team Arrives in Southern California
Jurgen Klinsmann, Matt Besler, Mike Magee and Graham Zusi talk about the healthy competition within the January camp as the USA trains at StubHub Center for the first time in 2014.

Also, Greg Seltzer has a bunch of January transfer updates over on his blog, too. Nothing too close yet, just some early rumors and interest. Maurice Edu needs a new club ASAP.

EDIT: Galarcep with a Besler interview in Goal.com

Roma signed Radja Nainggolan. Could cut into Bradley's playing time.

Michael will in all likelihood play in today's Coppa Italia match and the next league match due to DeRossi's red card. He will get chances to impress Rudi Garcia in January. But if the coach tells him that his minutes evaporate due to the new arrival then it is time to go out on a loan somewhere or transfer elsewhere completely.

John Anthony Brooks injures knee

U.S. international John Anthony Brooks will miss Hertha Berlin’s winter training camp with a knee injury.

Brooks twisted his knee in training on Monday and Hertha have announced that he is now set to spend between 10 and 14 days on the sidelines, which will prevent him taking part in the training camp in Belek, Turkey.

And right on cue, rumors of Bradley signing with MLS. Coming from Taylor Twellman. He mentions Toronto. Let BradleyWatch begin.

Ready for a blockbuster? I'm hearing @torontofc on the verge of signing Michael Bradley. Would be a huge coup for @MLS and @torontofc #USMNT

saw the Twellman tweet. This makes no absolutely no sense. Even playing at Fulham makes more sense than coming back to MLS. MLS is not the standard you want national team players aspiring to.

Link.

Taylor Twellman is correct. It is not done, but Toronto FC are in serious talks for Roma midfielder Michael Bradley. I've been told the asking price will be right in the neighborhood of Sunderland's failed summer offer, that it is likely to happen and that Roma are not happy about it all.

This is super-kooky to me on several levels, but right now I'm fairly baffled because a couple hours ago his Italian representation told me there were still no offers. Soooo either this offer situation sprang up just now or I got blown a smokescreen. If it is the latter, I am not amused. Even if it is the former, I am confused.

There will be more discussion on this, whether it goes through or not. For now, I am back to phones.

saw the Seltzer link. Surely clubs in the premier league who are trying to stave off relegation would be happy to take him on loan. Why come back to a league which starts in two months and play at a lower level for 2-3 months? Even coming off the bench for Roma is a better proposition.

Yeah MLS needs to grow and maybe in the long run, paying more and retaining the best talent is good for the league. But we are maybe decades away from the MLS having quality players throughout its rosters playing at a level on par with the best in Europe.

If he's going for the 7 million range, then I don't know many EPL clubs that would be willing to pony that up for an American midfielder.

I can live with this as a short-term move to get him some time before the World Cup, but long term this doesn't make sense on a number of levels.
