Which actual stores ARE selling games right now? And which games?
Toys R Us
EB
GameStop
GameCrazy

Gretzky NHL
World Tour Soccer
Tony Hawk Underground 2 Remix
Spider-Man 2
Need For Speed Underground Rivals

Wipeout, among others, was supposed to arrive at EBs today.

Just was just playing against Crecente.. pretty damn fun, though I finally dropped a connection in that last game. When it was running, it was running pretty danm smooth from my end.

I totally don't remember all the TM techniques, but it's "starting" to come back :)

Confirmed stores as of yesterday are EB and Gamecrazy. Games that are on shelves now are:

Spiderman 2
Tony Hawk
World Tour Soccer
Need for Speed
Gretzky

Hopefully Wipeout and Twisted Metal are in stores today.

God, I haven't played Black in forever. I seemed to think that it was sort of crap when it came to multiplay. I like the feel of this one. You can customize just about everything in terms of setting up a match. The maps seem reasonably big and the engine translates well to the PSP.
I have a little problem with handling reverse, to deliver the backing up backin up backin up smack-down, but besides that it was a lot of fun.
I don't like the whole getting dropped from the server and having my PSP freeze up on me, that totally sucked.

I assume online is going to be buggy like this for a while.

Probably forever. You can't prevent dropped connections, even on wired connections... sure you can minimize them, but you're always going to have em.

I'm more worried about the PSP freezing up on me, twice now.
I'm talking to Sony in a minute, so plan to grill them on it.

THAT was a great game (vs. Rob2$c or something?) No drops at all, and I kicked some ass. I'm not expecting PC or console like, online Cat5 stability, personally, but what I've seen so far is pleasing me. Just a 5 minute online pickup game during my lunch break at work.

And I'm sure Sony still thinks they have a few days to get things a bit more optimized. The distinct lack of SCEA people online is odd, so we'll see.

Man got to actually do some work today (real life work).

I surprised and amused that the machine is lighter yet sturdier and also they fixed the square button...

now I know I should have waited

Crecente, I've seen in your blog you've made a comment about the Wipeout Pure music. So, I'm assuming you've playing a retail version.

Can you figure out if the music in that game are the streamed tracks (if they have something like extensive lyrics that would be a dead giveaway) or are they more like MIDI music?

I sign my posts because I'm a traffic whore, but I'll stop.
Yes, I've been playing the retail version of Wipeout Pure and it rocks.
The music is really good, but of the techno non-lyric variety.
I'll post the tracks later on, on Kotaku.

I think you are wrong... The PSP lcd widescreen to begin with... Becuase of this no black bars display on top and bottom. If it was full screen there would be black bars on the sides.

there should be black bars considering spidey 2 wasn't shot in the 16:9 format. If theres no bars somethings being cropped.

16:9 like an HDTV is something like 1:85:1 ratio

Many movies are shot in 2:33:1 ratio which will put black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. SM part 1 was shot in 1:85:1 and therefore didn't have the black bars. If SM 2 was shot in the same format, it should NOT have those bars, if it was shot differently, it SHOULD have them or something is being cropped.

Spidey 2 was scope (2.35:1), but the PSP's screen is closer to 2.35:1 than 1.85:1 although there is some slight cropping on Spidey 2.

Can someone explain how the content download for Wipeout Pure actually works? Do you connect via PSP wirelessly or do you have to go to the website > download on PC > USB transfer on the PSP?

Also, could anyone with the japanese system tell us if there is any difference in the LCD screen quality. Especially concerning the bleeding issue?

I think Alpha snake already confirmed that it's the same screen.

Is there a separate battery available? I couldn't see one on the EB or Gamestop websites. I've got a long flight coming up and I need a spare.
