Whadda think? My laptop has both ports (no usb2 though). Will i see a difference in performace? Does anyone have any webcam recommendations? I was looking at Apples one, uses firewire...thanks for the help.

well, I know FireWire pushes data a lot faster than USB1, but I don't really know if that matters for a webcam.

$150 for the Apple iSight?! You've got to be kidding me! What the hell?! Buy a little Logitech Quickcam Express for under $30 and spend that other $120 on something else.

wow yeah thats a lil steep for a webcam, it would be more as a toy, occasionally IM with it or something. ibot i think makes a firewire one as well. i'll have to research that

Yeah iSight is hella expensive.

My logitech quickcam works quite fine when plugged into USB1.1.

That said, I recently added Firewire and it is MANY times faster than USB1.1.
