I've considered it but I'm really not sure yet. It looks really interesting but I don't think I have the money to get it. On the other hand, I know I'll import VP2 no matter what my money situation is at the time.

I suppose Tri-Ace is saving Early (the Valkyrie's tertiary, and far, far more extreme ego) for last...
I'm hoping hand painted 2D, but from that picture, it looks like 3D....

Yeah, I assume they'll save Hrist for last since she's like pure evil (like everybody's favorite lizardy forum mod, Dragona 
). IIRC, all the flash back sequences in VP that involved older incarnations of Arngrim and Mystina were with Hrist and not Silmeria but I'll have to go back and play the game now (since I'm in need of a replay anyway).

Well, I think it's entirely possible to have Arngrim and Mystina involved. It seems they're closely tied to the Valkyries and you see them with Lenneth and Hrist. As I recall, Freya mentions that Arngrim has incredible skill but his personality and demeanor leave something to be desired. I assume the reason you can't send him up is because the Valkyries are the ones that can harness his awesome power (and jeez was he a powerhouse in the game) as a leader to him.

I'd say Sakuraba is probably a lock, I don't see why he wouldn't.

What I like most is that the tail-end PS2 games wont look like complete and utter shit compared to next-gen games unlike the situation regarding PSOne games compared to the Dreamcast.

2006 is one hell of year for PS2, it's acting as if the generation isn't even coming towards a close with all these games!!

Damn, it's amazing how many of you haven't fully beaten VP1. 
I really hope they follow up on the huge sequel hint after the credits with Lezard and Brahms, specifically Brahms remarks about still having Silmeria as a trump card even with Lenneth becoming mother-of-all-creation or whatever her new title is(Hrist was destroyed so she's obviously not going to be around). ... but if this is completely prequel material then I'll be happy as long as it's good.

More like IS PS2's best year.
We get MGS3 Redux, which in itself is awesome. FFXII which will be incredible. Black, which looks better than most next-gen stuff, Okami, which will likely be a sleeper hit, and, or course, the deluge of RPGs.
The best, of course, being Valkyrie Profile 2.

That would be because it is a sound clip at the end of the game and if you were impatient, you would have turned off the game and never heard it.

I will be the first to admit that I need to replay VP again. As amazing as it was, I haven't touched the game in about three years. I knew the announcement of the PSP port and/or PS2 sequel would be enough to get me replay through it.
Lenneth was almost killed by Freya's protective spell on her memory. It shattered her soul and allowed Hrist to take her body. The game actually mentions her shattered remnants being about to fade away into nothingness(IIRC), but they were collected and crystallized in time... to be later reconstructed with the body remants after whacking Hrist along with the homonculus Lezard created. Valkyrie isn't exactly a top-ranking goddess as of VP1 so maybe the requirements aren't as steep.
