Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 - Reviews Thread

minor technical issues
"The problem with the performance mode though, is that even on PS5 Pro the 60 FPS limit is rarely kept and VRR busting drops are frequent throughout the game – especially during encounters with multiple enemies in Bloodline 2's frosty open world. Throw in some sizable, nearly a second long stutters, the occasional crash which whisks your back to the PS5's front end"

Sure minor ones.

Review from RPS

They quite liked it, as long as you know what you're in for. Basically a light ARPG, with bad sidequests but interesting main storyline and atmosphere

RPS is fucking ass bro.

An attempt to pull "death of the artist" on an author who is very much alive and profiting from the world she's created.

Honestly, I don't see why we need a new wizarding RPG. Pottergame already exists, y'all.

HI GUYS LET ME EDUCATE YOU ON DEI

All of which betrays an elementary or perhaps, wilful misunderstanding of what DEI is supposed to achieve. Central to the case for DEI training is that discrimination can be intangible unless it's aimed at you. As such, hiring or working strategies that try to reward the "best candidate" without reflection risk shoring up the systemic advantages that make it easier for some applicants to succeed. Tyminski's promise to hire based "solely on talent and merit", for example, overlooks that "talent" and "merit" are concepts cultivated by humans whose sense of fairness is shaped by their circumstances.

I agree with all the sage commentators saying the only problem is this game being called Bloodlines. If this game was called "Vampire the Masquerade: Absolute disgrace of a game, worse than a cup full of sick" it would be easily worth a 10/10.

My favorite dumb as fuck take I have seen here and elsewhere on the net has been, "It's unfair or we shouldn't compaire it to VTM: Bloodlines 1"

My brother in Christ.... the devs named the fucking game VTM: Bloodlines 2. Marketed as being the sequel to the fucking first game. What the fuck are you smoking to even suggest it is "unfair to compare it to it." They, the developers, wanted you to buy the game under the premise it is a sequel and comparible, if not better, than the first game.

So yeah.... yeah we can compare the two games.

This take is glorious at being so fucking overtly deflective and retarded at doing so.

I think you are right, but at the sames time we can have measured opinions.

The game looks like a really disappointing follow up to BL1, that's for certain, but at the same time it could still be a worthwhile experience in its own right

Steam reviews are pounding this game. Most of the negative reviews are mad that the game development didn't go as they had hoped. Some of them even pre-ordered the game 5 years ago. I do not get people who pre-order a game like this, that is years out yet, then are surprised it is nothing like some trailer. I am guessing the reviews will improve once the initial pre-order gamers have finished venting and the game gets a few patches.

Landing way worse than I expected, honestly. I didn't expect it to live up to the original - but I expected they'd at least try. Some of the takes are rough.

I've never played the first one, but this one looks like shit. Just looking at the steam page was enough for me to pass. The finger gun attack? Oof. A middle schooler might think this was the sickest shit ever but I just find it incredibly cringy.

Not shocked the game turned out to be shallow drivel, that's literally the entire catalog of The Chinese Room.

All they've made is bad walking sims with pretentious writing that thinks it has something to say, except this game they actually had to make game mechanics, and picked the worse genre because people expected an RPG.

Having over 20k people in peak is still a better result than I expected, but I think with a game like this PC is by far the dominant platform so I wouldn't compare it to numbers of some other recent releases like SHf.

That's probably it for now. Huge fans of the first game already have it, a "normal" player won't think about picking it up after seeing the percentages. Paradox will now have to wait for bumps once the game starts to appear on sale.

I watched a livestream and it looks pretty neat at times, the vibes in the snowy neon lit city are immaculate and traversal looks awesome. Combat looks a bit clunky and pretty much all dialogue looks cringe as fuck.

Having a main character called "Phyre" is just… wtf.

Either way, I'm definitely picking this up when the price drops a bit. There's plenty of 6/10 games I had a great time with.

PlayStation Universe - John-Paul Jones - 7.5 / 10
Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 might not be the sequel that folk from 2004 wanted for their game, but it is the game we've got. Though largely sparse open world and technical issues are hardly encouraging, the beautifully evocative interior environments, surprisingly engaging traversal and combat mechanics, together with its neatly unconventional 'buddy movie' conceit which sees two vampires attempting to inhabit the same body and each with their own motivations, makes Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 a good deal more intriguing than I originally expected it to be.

I did not believe him when he was in zeppelin, why should i start believing him now ?

Better than nothing.
But so much worse than what could have been.
Still will get the game as soon as it's 30$ or less.

It's 100% retarded. Do these people not realize the ONLY reason it's selling and got to 27k CCUs on Steam is because of the name? If all of their marketing is based on reaping the benefits of the first game, then they damn sure are going to get compared to the first game. But they knew this already. If they named it something else no one would even give a damn about the game and it wouldn't have charted on Steam at all. So they kept the name, knowing that people would buy it from name alone and they'd make more money than they should have.

And that's what this game is. It's a shitty linear walking simulator, with tacked on half-assed repetitive combat and cringe dialogue.
