VAPORWARE?! or Games that have Vanished

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Gaming Graveyard?
Secretly in development?
Or just...... over zealous wishing?

What games were/are you looking forward to, that just kind of fell off the face of the planet?

Here are some for me, and if anyone knows anything that I don't about any of the following, please share:

Final Fantasy III DS
Mother 3 GBA
Chrono Break (or any Chrono)
The Mistwalker DS Strategy Game (is this even still in development?)
The Lost (all current gen systems)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Is there really any contest?

Cheers,

I think FFIII DS was cancelled as it was removed from nintendo.com quite a while ago.

My vote goes to TEAM FORTRESS 2

Fear Effect III: Inferno
I think Eidos didn't want to publish the game at that time and without publisher the project stopped right there.
I don't even know wether Kronos digital still exists or not. Their site says "under construction" and it's like that for awhile now.

Really too bad, I was really looking forware to this game coming to the PS2, years ago.

I know it was cancelled but DEAD RUSH

That game seemed pretty cool :(

and wtf at Zombies Ate My Neighbors? I never knew there was news of a possible sequel...oh wait, there was Ghoul Patrol. That sucked.

Irrational bought back the rights, shelved it for current-gen systems, and intend to make it again on better technology in the future.

Yeah, Eidos dropped it after being unimpressed with some of the crazier 2D/3D stuff Kronos were doing with it. Kronos went under a few years back, AFAIK, shooting down my hopes for a remake of Meat Puppet on some random next-generation console.

Werewolf the Apocalypse for the Saturn/PS1.

Major Damage for Saturn/PS1.

Sonic X-treme for Saturn.

Heavy Machinery for 32X.

Gunbeat for the DC.

Agartha for the DC.

Castlevania for the DC.

Streets of Rage 4 for the DC.

And where did that team that did the awesome Sky Odyssey go off to...I want a PS3 sequel...NOW!

Earthbound 64, Earthbound III and any variation of Earthbound down the years that has mysteriously vanished into Itoi's underpants.

Long live the dream, the Earthbound hope (tm).

Disaster Report 2. =(

C'mon IREM, throw us a bone here. The Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 2 site hasn't been updated since January. I want to see more about the watery adventures of our Waiter-san! :lol

The second (and best) version of Halo for PC that was going to be a team-based FPS like Tribes. It's a shame Bungie got bought up and had ruin the game for Xbox. :(

Funny, I was looking for possible E3 info on this game last night...

Most of you probably remember the steller Last Ninja games made for the C64 and other computers in the 80's, and this game I believe first started life in '97 or '98 on the PSX. There hasn't been much of anything said officially regarding it now in the last nine months. :lol Even Duke Nukem Forever fears.

Here are some other classic vapourware titles...

Ghosts 'n' Goblins Online - Did I just imagine this was announced?
It was called Ghosts 'n' Goblins Online Zero and it was quietly cancelled. Taiwanese company Game Factory Entertainment Studios was beta-testing it and using the Terazona engine from network developer Zona (original developer). It was scheduled to be released for Xbox, GC, PS2, and PC.
