VAPORWARE?! or Games that have Vanished

"Vandal Hearts DS?"
- Yea! I forgot about that. Any word? I really lked the Vandal Hearts series (particularly the first one) and I'm dying to get a good tactics RPG out for my DS. Was this to be a port or a new one? Or is it dead?

"Irrational bought back the rights, shelved it for current-gen systems, and intend to make it again on better technology in the future" (The Lost)
- This is very good to hear. The story of tyhe game, based on Dante's Inferno, looked very interesting and ambitious. I was following it for awhile till it seemed to dissapear totally. I hope it comes back.

"Baten Kaitos DS"
- Forgot about this one too. Any word? It could have potentially, hopefully its an all-new entry.

What happened with that game? The first game was successful in terms of sales right?

Nintendo almost finished it, but felt that it was best that they put all their efforts toward the game that eventually became Star Fox 64. Which is a real shame, because SF2 was shaping up very nicely.

But if the end result of Star Fox 64 is any indication, maybe it was worth it.

whatever happened to Adeline and Delphine software?

Delphine Software fired all of its programmers in early 2004. Officially though, the studio is no more since July last year.

Powerstone 3

in the official dc magazine some capcom developer said they are working on the third installment and online play is definitely going to be a feature.

Yeah but the game was almost complete! Having free roaming was still limited in SF64, not to mention extra characters were missing, and transformation modes were nowhere to be seen.

*shakes fist at Nintendo*

I'm still pissed off 10 years later!

That blows. Powerstone was one of the very few fighting games (if you could call it that) that I truly enjoyed in a long time. Probably since Bushido Blade or Tobal.

True Fantasy Online, Microsoft can go to hell for teasing us with screenshots and promises of the game, and then cancelling it. Looked like it was well on its way to being completed, what % complete was it exactly?

Xbox 360?

Same here.

Looks like the Knight is about to yell out "A ding ding ding ding dididing ding bing bing pscht, Dorhrm bom bom bedom bem bom bedom bom bum ba ba bom bom"

Seriously.

Here's another one...FX Fighter for the SNES.

Though I guess it did come out for the PC, it was supposed to be one of Nintendo's big exclusive games for the unit. Guess they scrapped that once KI got "moved" to the SNES.

Little Big Adventure 3

whatever happened to Adeline and Delphine software?

The team behind LBA went to No Cliché, was bought by Sega for the Dc, worked on agartha for Dc, was fired after DC fiasco. They are trying to recover.

LBA will not get a follow up. The licencing rights are lost in hell.

Just add PAM (Top Spin) to the mix and you get about every quality developers in France.
Sad, very sad.
Frederic Raynal is now more or less doing consulting work, I heard he's a bit involved with a project at F4toys, but he's not the main designer or anything like that.
As for TFLO, it was said that the client part was well under way, but the on the server part Level 5 was waaaaay late.

Atari is French, Vivendi Universal is french. They are owners of many foreign developers.

yes but I am talking about developers, not publishers..

I see there are some, but it seems like the developers i really liked have disappeared.. (Fade to black, Another world.. great games)

It was called Ghosts 'n' Goblins Online Zero and it was quietly cancelled. Taiwanese company Game Factory Entertainment Studios was beta-testing it and using the Terazona engine from network developer Zona (original developer). It was scheduled to be released for Xbox, GC, PS2, and PC.

Which is a huge shame. I could have been huge...

Take the Bullet and the museum robbing game for DC were never released. Didn't Microsoft have some epic game for DC planned or was that Take the Bullet?
