This happened about 2 blocks from my house. I've probably been at parties with the guy who was killed, as the family was friends with friends of mine.

I'm pretty creeped out. I drive past that house every day.

I'm not frightened (beyond the knee-jerk holy-cow-that-was-close-to-my-house factor)-- but it's still creepy in that this is not a neighborhood where anything happens, and suddenly there are cops all over the place.

Creepy also in that you hear about killings like this and they're always in some far off place or other city.

I suppose that would only make it creepy for me personally.

Oddly enough, we've recently been learning about this World Church of the Creator in my Anthropolothy class.

It's some really whacked out stuff. We saw a video where a spokesman for the cult (and I use cult because that is so obviously what it is) was talking about the concern of racial takeover in the United States, and how white people need to band together and force all other races out of the country, because: "It was our (white's) land first" :lol

Some people are just completely out of their minds.

I was good friends with a guy I used to live next door to. the whole family was actually friends with each other. we moved away, and about umm.. two years after we moved (only moved like 13 blocks, we still went to the same school), his dad killed the mom, the son (he would have been like 17, I was 15), and his baby brother (like under 1 year old). the baby brother was killed first (suffocated), the mother was apparently started to be killed when she slept but woke up (only to die), then the son (my friend) must have heard something, came into the room to attack his dad with a baseball bat, only to finally be shot and killed. finally the dad shot and killed himself...

to this day I can't even process that.

Why did he start with the kid? They usually kill the person they have the dispute with first.

google bonnie elmasri and you will see it on virtually every anti-Brady Bill website you can imagine. Though they basically just talk about that she was denied the gun to protect her from her husband and 24 hours later he killed the family.

If you also search for Michael Elmasri you will see his comments (like just a month or so before he was killed) come up on an old Gulf War report talking about another former classmate (his classmate, though the soldier's brother was in my class) who died in the first Gulf War. There was also someone's father in our class who died in a road rage inspired beating around the same time....

yeah, that was a pretty rough month or so at school..... and oddly enough it's not like we were in the ghetto.. it was probably one of the nicer areas in the metro area. still is actually... weird..
