VF4 FUCKING EVO!

I have been playing with Aoi so much and I don't even know quite why. I like her design, so there is a draw to getting her cool stuff (and she looks pretty spiffy right now) but I actually don't like playing with her. I'm used to Pai, so Aoi just seems so slow and limited. Half the time she can't even knock people over with powerful hits, and I can't get her reversals to work right (though I work wonders with Pai's parry moves). But nevertheless, I have almost 500 rounds played so far, and I am getting better with her to be able to beat Hero level players and whatnot.

I need to experiment more, though. I messed around with Lei and he seems pretty cool, but I havent even touched others like Jeffry, Lau and Akira. Kage was neat, but I have trouble playing position with his moves sending him all over the place. I remember Brad being cool but I haven't played with him since I first got the game. And then I remember Vanessa being awesome in VF4, but they seemed to mess with more than just her outfit in Evo, she just doesn't seem nearly as versatile as before. But this game is so crazy because it just takes so long to really decide if you even like a character or not, I stopped for awhile but I'm getting sucked into it again.

I love virtuafighter.com

I had been stuck on that stupid quest order "Evade 5 times with an evading throw escape, with at least 3 successful throw escapes" for so long having no idea what I was supposed to do until someone there kindly informed me the game actually meant "Do an evading triple throw escape 5 times"

Hry MAF. Do yoiu have 10th Aniv rework?

I have the original VF4 release for PS2. I walked by EVO yesterday, and saw it for $9.99, but decided to pass on it... If it gets any cheaper I might pick it up though.

BTW, my VF char has always been Wolf

That's it, I must learn strategies for fighting against Pai, Shun and Brad. I always have trouble with them, but now I was just playing a "Win 20 matches in a row" and I'm not sure if I even lost a around, but then I get to the 20th fight and lost to a measly 3rd dan Pai (again, one of those conveniently hard for just one match things) Oohh nothing burns me like 1) wasting time and 2) not even understanding what I did wrong/why I lost. Overall I can fight with Aoi, even get excellents and stuff, but some some reason I always feel like I'm just working past a disadvantage.

Must get 20k for glasses...

i'm almost at champion with brad (again)...at hero right now, probably have to fight about 5 more guardians to rank up. i've been pretty surprised with myself, i haven't played in months, and then awhile ago i decided to pick up brad again, and i'm doing pretty well. my record is about 800 wins 60 losses or so. what i'm really surprised with is my throw escape rate, which is like 30% right now (that's like 10% higher than i've ever had it at playing with any other character)...maybe it's because this is my second run through of quest with brad. it's mainly jeffrey, akira, and pai who are throwing me too...everyone else i escape the majority of their throws. granted, i'm playing with a pad, but i left my stick at home. i seem to have the most trouble with fighting kage or lion...but i'm starting to play more carefully against them...it's just that fighting them seems awkward, like the matches don't flow right, because of their weird fighting styles. jeffrey too, but that's just because i can never manage to escape the splash mountain.

anyways, after i get to champion and finish up the last two quest orders (which might take me awhile), i'm going to start with either wolf or aoi, the two characters that i never seem to have any idea how to use.

It's one of those games where I can tell it's inherently awesome, but I just don't enjoy it. Like Pikmin 2. Both games appear to be epically good, but I can't get into either.

That's how I am with Soul Calibur games, I can see they're great but they just aren't my thing.

Man, I'm still confused as to how I lost to a 3rd dan Pai. I mean if I can beat a Hero, that like a 17-rank difference. I don't get it.

for some reason when i watch matches they always seem like they're finished 10x faster than mine do, which is funny because most matches i fight end in the same amount of time or less. i mean i'm sure that the vast majority of people playing the matches i watch could kick my ass...it just seems like they go faster than they really do when i'm not playing.

Ok I was distracted by the task of turning Lei into the supreme awesomeness. I chose white pants & light blue tunic/other thing for his 1P outfit, and with the gold crown, trident and dragon greaves he looks like a sea king. Then for 2P I use the default shirt, brown pants, grey shins, flute on his side, sword & shield on his back, blindfolded with the straw farmer's hat on top. He looks awesome! He's warrior rank now but I'm still pretty easily beating the snot out of people.

I also went through the missions and got the glowing brace for my Champion Pai, man that last mission was irritating. I lost count of how many times I beat Lei perfect in the first round and almost in the 2nd/3rd except for one tiny jab, and having to go through 5 menus (I don't like the menus or their sounds in this game) to try again got on my nerves as well. But I have it now, and it's a symbol of Pai's awesomeness, because I don't think I could do it with another character. I may get back to Aoi, but I also want to turn Lau into a chef w/ wok, knife or ladle, chef hat and white outfit and maybe the glasses for fun.
