There's definitely some kind of joke in there, but in VGcats tradition it's buried under needless dialogue and extra panels.

They could've even separated the comic into two strips -- one being Sonic's firing (although the punchline would have to be something stronger than him crying) and the other being Shadow being pigeonholed.

VGcats has style. Hell, copying One Piece (like what Blade for Barter does) is a valid style. The problem is that most amerimanga is done in "How to Draw Manga" style, which looks lame-o.
