Dammmmn. Reading that guys comment that he responds to is fricken embarrassing.

It's not news that a random guy on the internet (random123 lol) is trolling and calling names. I would say it's more embarrassing that the guy who everybody knows, is acting like a console warrior.

You talking about Tim? All his info seems to be based on old spec anyways. I can't imagine that Microsoft wouldn't use a custom OS. They have the tools and talent to do so and it makes no sense that they would simply put Windows on the system.

Read the OP.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the most recent news. Sorry.

But yeah, people are probably not trashing Sony because based on this gen they didnt push the PS Eye and the Move as much as MS did with Kinect, so maybe people are not expecting it to be the focus of Sony.

Yes I'm talking about Tim. His info might be based on old specs but he had no trouble telling an anonymous guy in the internet, what MS's plans for a generation are. And apparently how bad they are.

He is a tech guy of course he is going to be all in love which whatever one he perceives is throwing caution to the wind and putting as many shiny parts in it as possible.

Who figured the creator of FXAA was also a closet console warrior?

Wait, are you being serious? He's a "console warrior" because he doesn't agree with your opinion on the Durango specs?

Well they have HMZ

Different target group. HMZ is an expensive device optimised for watching movies. Oculus has a bigger FOV (bad for movies), reduced latency (useless for movies) and headtracking (usesless for movies).

Well Vita has dual cameras....

I hope they at least support HMZ with the Orbis.

It already supports PS3/Xbox 360 and all HDMI devices. It's not really a VR display, just a movie viewer.

I'd argue his bias is pretty apparent in this post he made on his blog...

As for the big picture, you are talking about making money on the platform and insuring your investors want to pump money into your company. Something tells me that the big picture for Microsoft aligns well with: (a.) not making a custom OS, it is high cost, (b.) cheaper hardware, don't sell at a loss, (c.) selling a DVR, going after more than just gamers, (d.) focus on the more casual, larger player base, (e.) refresh hardware often, get people to purchase more often, (f.) build a "PC", easier to port games from. Which aligns with my predictions.

So because he's offering his opinion on where Microsoft might be focusing their efforts in the console business which, given their recent history would line up pretty well, he's a "console warrior"?

I'd argue he has a clear bias. it was immediately apparent to me.

now whether you want to reduce that to console warrior is on you and others, but reading his blog post and then the comments, it's clear he's gushing over one console and assuming the best possible scenario and continually down and assuming the worst possible scenario for the other.

that, in my book at least, is evidence enough of him having a clear bias.

Rift using OLED from Sony.
Supports VR on device.
???
Profit.

Didn't the guys at Oculus Rift say they couldn't reveal who would be making the displays in the Dev unit and the final consumer unit?

Why would they withhold the name of the manufacturer supplying the displays?

Or you're projecting.

Oh... right! I almost forgot. It must have been Kotaku or something...

Well your point still stands. It was like the beaches of Normandy here.

Its a pretty unprofessional response. I can't imagine why he would have a console preference though, especially working at Nvidia. I think he is letting his assumption of things going on at Microsoft skew him perspective a bit.
