Hmm...lol.
probably gonna have to wait for official reveal for that.So the specs put the PS4 over the Xbox, but frankly, at this point I want either case leaks or actual visuals. When might we see that?
premium model.
basic - no bc, smaller hard drive, no plus.
premium - bc, larger hard drive, 3 months of plus.
Don't toy with my emotions.

You nailed it!I Rather pay for Oculus than BC
You wont have a hardware solution. Basically you would need to put a full PS3 (meaning CELL+RSX and their memory respectively) alonside PS4's APU...
We'll be back very soon

It's as if all of you are going to throw away your PS3s when you get the PS4... Not like you can't still play your PS3 collection once PS4 releases. And for those who don't even have a PS3, not sure why you're asking for BC in the first place if you didn't support the system previously.
BC is gone. Too many people have shown a willingness to get hyped over HD rehashes of old games. They'll gladly take your money that way.
You nailed it!
something is going on over at vgleaks.

wait: there is a possibilty that my PSN games wont transfer to my PS4?
wait: there is a possibilty that my PSN games wont transfer to my PS4?
A very real possibility, yes. There's nothing here indiciating that PS3 software will be compatible with PS4. Some PSN games I can see being simple enough to make compatible...but there's no solid info yet.
...erm.. PS2 games maybe, because they aren't sold anymore, but what about PS3 games, do they really expect people to pay 4-500 for PS4 and 200 for a PS3 JUST to play PS3 games? It's not gonna happen.
A few weeks after closing the studio, there was a little message on WipEoutIt'll forever hurt. ...
This will do it....
The Cell can be emulated with this.
http://www.freepatentsonline.com/20100312969.pdf
Patented by Sony themselves. It highly resembles Toshiba's "SpursEngine" but instead of having dedicated memory like the SpursEngine does, it uses shared memory.
EDIT: Just wanted to point out, on page 6 of the patent, it demonstrates two of these chips being hooked together, which would be able to fully emulate the Cell.

Companies are fighting for precious real estate in the entertainment center.
Believe it or not, not everyone has an entertainment center that looks like this.

People that bent on BC already have PS3s. I'm saying people have shown they will buy remasters of games from the preceding generation. GOW collection? MGS Trilogy set? We'll see, but BC keeps showing up in these consumer polls they put out and I'm betting they get lukewarm answers on it. That's why most things indicate a move away from it, not towards it. It's a useless bullet point that only a small subset of consumers care about. Those consumers may be vocal, but they don't speak with their cash, so they're really voiceless.
You don't need such a huge entertainment center to play your PS3 games next gen, just need to have space for one additional unit. Heck, you can eliminate half to 3/4 of those consoles with a PC.

Well, Cell is already fully emulated by IBMs Full System Simulator in
software. It was distributed by IBMs Cell SDK. But about one and a half year
ago, after the PS3 was fully hacked, they wiped the simulator from the net.
And phosphor112, I want to see BC in as well. But the world won't end,
if it isn't.
Lol at that tiny ass tv.

"One additional unit."
Next to the 360, the PS3, the cable box, collection of discs you have, and anything else that might happen to be there.
Having already seen what he was capable of doing with all those consoles, I'm sure he won't have a problem finding a solution.I'm also going to note something in that picture.
The dude ran out of space. Now he's got a PS3 next to his TV. Doesn't even have a 360 or Wii... where do his newer consoles go?

You keep your discs on the TV stand/unit? No wonder you have no space, keep them in a separate cabinet.
Even if Sony did manage to put PS3 BC into the PS4 I'd expect a hefty price increase on the unit. And then people will complain, stating their 'entitlement' to having backwards compatibility without the additional cost.
It's not just that. Say you're chatting with a friend over PSN and they suggest a game of Trine 2. That might be fine for them as they're actually talking from their PS3, but you then have to shut down your PS4, load up your PS3, change channel on your TV, find the game, load it, invite them etc.
Or, if the PS4 is done right, accept an invite and start playing. Job done.

So you guys want another $599 debacle basically. Correct?

Adding a CELL like processor is not adding a $300 blu-ray drive.
I'll expect my apologies and groveling via PM when I'm proven right.
