How do we know he didn't retaliate? The video cuts before he could react. The "Skater Man" probably wanted to be seen in a good light on the internet so he cut the part where he fights back.

Even if he did retaliate, the mother is still in the wrong, because maybe she pulled out a PP7 and shot him three times in the thigh. I mean, he could lose his ability to walk and skate for life. We can't prove she didnt, because you know... maybe she did after the video ended.

Wow. What a stupid ass woman. She let her young son walk around a skate park unsupervised and then is surprised when a skater inevitably runs into him. Why is she so far away in the first fuckin place. I could see the skater wanting to retaliate against her but I think he made the right decision not to attack the woman in front of the kid, though she deserved it. She had no right to hit him.

Skater seemed pretty apologetic about it too.

I'm just saying it's really suspicious for the video to end at that precise moment.

Doesn't look like a skate park to me, at least not explicitly. There are plenty of people just walking around too.

Edit: I made the original post assuming it wasn't a skate park since I didn't see anything too clear about that, I thought it was just a park/pathway the skater was using.

It's a skatepark in Burbank, CA. I've been there.

The other thing is that it isn't like the kid was sitting idly by while the skater swerved into him, the kid was hauling ass into the skater like he was initiating a game of chicken and lost.

What should have happened:

1) Mum runs over to kid to make sure he's ok
2) Mum apologises to skater and made sure he was ok.
3) Once mum has calmed kid down, she has a chat to him about the fact that as she's told him previously, he can't go running off from her in places like this and he needs to pay attention to where he's going.

What a shit mom, she could use a parenting class. And an anger management course. And like a basic education so you can know that punching people over an accident brought upon by your own negligence is fucking cowardly and more importantly wrong. Way to set an example for your stupid kid.

It doesn't matter, we don't have fucking dogs' brains. Controlling our animal instinct is part of what makes us civilized human beings.

No, we don't have dog brains we have a reptile brain. Even though we are "civilized" human beings, the majority of our behavior is based on habit and instinct. If you examined all the actions of your day (including the small ones ,like what you eat, drink, etc) are all your actions rational, how often are you repeating the same patterns of behavior, thought, etc (especially those not "good" for you or that you wish you could change"?

Ten seconds (or longer) elapsed between the kid being knocked over and the mother punching the skater, more than enough time for reason to re-assert itself, assuming the individual has any reason. No, in this case she was pissed and wanted to punch the guy. She had adequate time to consider the consequences. In fact, in court, the time it takes to assault someone can help determine if it was pre-meditated or "in the heat of the moment". In this case it was pre-meditated. She should be charged with assault.

I'm confused, and I don't see the relevance in your post to anything I said. Sure, we have a "lizard brain" but it's got two much bigger brains stacked on top of it that do the bulk of our thinking, rationalizing, problem-solving, etc... Are you saying she doesn't have access to the bulk of her brain?

Sure, I have habits. I like to play guitar, video games. I like to go for walks every now and then. I like a chocolate milk in the morning. I don't make a habit of punching people because I can't control my blood rage.

Just let me know what the point of your post was. Were you taking her side or just trying to talk down to me?

That's the rub. Everyone is assuming the lady doing the punching is the mom, how do we know the first lady to respond isn't the mom and the puncher is just some crazed friend/relative?

I'd say the difference in the reaction is minor whether it's the mom or a relative. Nobody should just come up and punch someone like that.

Specifically, when she (the puncher) says "You ran into my son, on his birthday?"

It's probably the best part of the video too. $10.
