virtual boy

I just whipped this sucker out again recently and started playing some Wario World. What a solid game that is... anyways, I was just wondering if you can play Japanese games on a US system? Also, could anyone give me any game recommendations to pick up? I only have Wario World and Golf as of now.

No idea, havent played it.

I got:
- teleroboxer
- wario
- golf
- mario tennis
- galactic pinball
- panic bomber
- v-tetris

Galactic pinball is quite fun aswell.

don't forget to pick up this as well...

Yay for virtual boy, and me not being the only poor sap who bought that. But teleroboxer was extraordinarily fun, as was mario tennis, I got them power serves DOWN!

Mario Tennis, Wario World, and Galactic pinball all were awesome games. Those definitely got the most use on my VB back in the day. I was so good at mario tennis I could probably beat it with my feet (that might prove difficult to prove, since the controller's cord isn't that long.)

I was able to snag my VB a few years back after that failed Blockbuster promo, so I got it for $15 with the custom foam "suitcase." Since then I've picked up: V-Tetris, Teleroboxer, Baseball, Mario Tennis, Wario World, Galactic Pinball, Panic Bomber, Mario Clash, Vertical Force, and Red Alarm.

Mario Clash was a nice twist on some old gameplay, and the 3-d effect really worked easily. It was essentially a: "grab a shell, aim at something in the background, and throw the shell, miss, creature comes to foreground, run to background and grab a shell..." kind of game. I liked it. :)

Wario World, Mario Tennis and Galactic Pinball probably still get played the most often.

Mario Tennis on VB is the best iteration of the series. It was fucking good.

:lol at the Visine comment.

Too bad Nintendo couldn't wait, oh, 8-10 years for the Virtual Boy idea.

What they could with that same concept with today's technology (full color, better depth perception, less bulky design, analog control, 3D graphics, 3D video) would be much more "revolutionary" than the DS or PSP as a "third pillar".

If they made such a system today, would they still require seperate graphics processors for each eye?

If they made such a system today, would it still cause children under 7 permanent eye damage?

Someone else already said so, but I'll agree that Mario Clash is a fun twist on the original Mario Bros. Of course no multiplayer hurts.

V-Tetris is just Tetris, but of course that still means IT'S TETRIS!! The background effects are nice and I enjoy the music, so it's a game I can zone out to for a looong time. Then bump into things when I try to walk around normally immediately afterward.

Teleroboxer is fun, and a perfect use of a first-person viewpoint, but I sucked at the dual D-pad controls.

I don't think such a system would cause eye damage unless you were stupid enough to play it for 4+ hour sessions without taking a break.

If they made Virtual Boy today it'd probably be

- Full color graphics
- 3D Dreamcast to XBox level visuals
- Rumble feedback, dual analog controller
- Built-in Microphone
- WiFi
- Much lighter (probably goggles that could be worn)
- Optical media based
- Online capable?

That'd be crazy.

On the other hand it would probably also just build the case against video games as being an anti-social hobby. But man, would FPS titles ever kick ass.

My friend and I were talking about this the other day. That would be awesome.

Does anyone know a cheap, reliable place to order some virtual boy games (not ebay)?

If something like that could be made and NOT suck, I think we'd be getting that instead of the PSP and DS. Pipedream. See you in the year 2020. :lol PEACE.
