Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

Games announced, Numblast is the one to get ($2.99, exploit auto loads on game boot) but you can also spend a small fortune on a Miku game in the Japanese region if you want.

VHBL, ARK CFW and custom bubbles.

I'm really behind in the scene at the moment (haven't even tried custom bubbles and still on 3.18) but from some quick reading it seems the custom bubble tricks have made TNV no longer necessary for playing PSP backups.

Custom Bubbles allows me to boot straight into a PSP game from the Vita homescreen?

I thought Numblast was already an exploit game and was patched?

Been on 3.18 forever (with no exploit) but I'm thinking about updating and maybe grabbing Numblast. Then again, I'm not even sure I would make use of eCFW, I think at this point I'd rather just stick with my Go and the ever improving PPSSPP.

Speaking of which, and this is kind of OT, was anything ever released for PSP 6.61?

Can you give me an example? I have yet to hear about this and I am very interested.

You have to sacrifice a host bubble as a transplant...

So say you only have 2 PSP games you bought on PSN, the exploit game and Tekken 6. If you want to use the bubbles, you're going to have to sacrifice Numblast or Tekken's bubble to create your custom one.

Games can have multiple exploits.

I see. I may have a few old exploit games I'd be willing to sacrifice. Thank you.

I'm still on 3.18 myself TN-V but I would love to update my trophies.

Same boat here. However, I was able to transfer certain games/saves to my up-to-date psTV and some (but not all) of the trophies registered.

It was weird, I loaded up velocity2x (100% completion). Then when I played the first level of the game, it suddenly realised that most of the trophies must have already been achieved so I got around 15 trophies just by sailing through the first level! Unfortunately it didn't pick them all up though and I didn't keep my platinum :(

It seems the trophies are not stored with the game/save but stored separately on the memory card

So say I have a 3.36 PSVita that I've never put any sort of home-brew of CFW on. Can I grab Numblast and play PSP backups?

If it's still available on PSN, yeah. But it's a little more complicated than simply that. You'll either have to install custom firmware (ARK) or custom bubbles. Both have their pluses and minuses and you can even use both, but they are a little involved. I recommend checking www.wololo.net as they have some guides on the main page if you think you can follow them.

For $3 you might want to grab Numblast now even if you aren't sure since they'll be taking the game down shortly before patching it.

Yeah, I already did. Figured worst case scenario I was out $3. Thanks!

I'm seeing Numblast is still on the store (in Australia) but it's only showing it as available for the PS3. When I was about to buy it yesterday, it showed it as being available for PS3 and Vita as cross-buy. Did I miss out?

Yeah, it got removed.

Could I use Metal Gear Solid to sign custom bubbles for Vita 3.36? Or could I just clone Numblast and use that to sign my custom bubbles?

Sorry I am new to Vita homebrew and it's a bit different from other homebrew systems.

Am i right in guessing the Vita mode has not been hacked yet? I would so love to play the PSP homebrew apps using the full power of Vita.

People are working on that, but progress has been very slow. I've been checking Wololo a lot, hoping they've finally got a working Vita custom firmware so I can finally pull the trigger on a PS TV, but nothing so far.

Even worse, I googled "Vita emulator" and the only legit looking thing was a Github page from 2012 that just said "Vita emulator."

Maybe try watching this tutorial - http://youtu.be/yg3Y7_ohQ14

It may or may not answer your question, haven't seen it myself. It makes me dread trying custom bubbles when I see it takes someone over 40 minutes to have to explain it.

A custom firmware is a long, long, LONG, LOOOOONG way off. If that's what you're waiting for, you may as well give up for now. The current exploit is a usermode (nor kernel) one and even as is, it's still very very restrictive.

Think of it as breaking into a very rich person's house. There are a myriad of valuable items, but each more important thing is kept behind another layer of protection Before you can get to where the valuables are in the safe, first you have to get into the room the safe is in, and before that you have to get into the house. And before that you have to get into the yard.

Right now, the vita team has disabled the perimeter alarm and has gotten into the yard, now they are looking for further exploits so they can break into the house. Custom firmware is going to be locked behind that vault.

Any drawback from updating to go to ARK vs TV-N?

Not much difference in terms of emulator compatibility, psp game compatibility etc. IIRC the ps1 compatibility is a bit better on TN-V (though neither have sound).

But bear in mind that if you're upgrading to vita firmware>3.18 then you lose out on the pkg installer and the native webkit hack (if it ever amounts to anything)

Double post. Sorry, but is there any confirmed way of getting new PSN content on my older FW Vita? I really want to download Rogue Legacy.

I trued transferring from my PS3 but it prompted for an update.

You'd need to do a cable trick with OpenCMA/QCMA through PS3.

If you tried that, I had same problem as you and I got update notice when I try to transfer.

I'm on ARK-2 with 3.36 and I like how simple it is so far. Though does anyone know how to get GPSP (GBA Emu) and SFC Emu to work with ARK-2?

I try to compress GPSP folder with BIOS and other files as INSTALL.ZIP but I don't see it in the Install section in ARK-2.

I installed PSPFiler fine, it's just that I would like GBA and SFC support. Maybe Retroarch?

I don't have Patapon 2 or VHBL but you should be able to get emulator on ARK-2.

I did try that and got the update notification. Did you ever figure out a solution?

Are you saying you're getting an update notice when trying to launch the game or an update notice when trying to transfer it to the vita?

I use my up-to-date psTV to buy new games, then I back them up to PC using the official content manager. Then I use QCMA to transfer the backup to my 3.18 vita. Games that don't have a firmware requirement will work (such as older vita games, psp games, ps1 games etc). But if a psVita game has a firmware requirement that is greater than your older firmware then there is *nothing* that can be done. You can have the bubble on your old vita but it won't launch.

I'm getting the prompt as soon as I try and connect my Vita to my PS3 to transfer content. I don't even have the opportunity to transfer games before being prompted to update.

Using a PSTV to back up the games is pretty smart, but I don't have one.

I had the same issue and got Error C3-14978-9 from QCMA before connecting to PS3 and failing.

I still haven't found a solution and just gave up and update to 3.36 and ARK-2 eCFW.

Any reason why you're staying with TN-V/3.20?

Well, I stayed on 3.18 because I wasn't too sure about ARK-2. 3.18 also has the opportunity for a native Vita hack since it still runs the webkit exploit.

The games for 3.36 have been pulled by now, so I'm trying to figure this out.

For convenience

I've bought Numblast but now I can't download it again.
WTF Sony?

I mean it, I'll never see this U$ 3,00 again? They can just take out content and I can't download it again?
This sets a terrible precedent, I mean it, I buy digital content because I know that I'll be able to download it again anytime I want it!

The game will be back one 3.37 or 3.40 firmware is out. This is not new, this is standard practice. They remove the exploit game till it's patched, then they put it back on the store.

Can someone help me out? Im interested in "hacking" my vita so that i can put a couple of my ps1 games on it thst arent available on psn. If i were to do this, will i not be able play those gamesonce anew firmware is released, if i were to update it? Does wip3out work? I know it does on psp. Any reccomended guide out there? I visit wololo periodically but am still left a little unsure.

Thankd

You're out of luck if you want PS1 games with sound, only versions 3.18 and earlier have a hack that works for that purpose.

Anyone have a good walkthrough on how to install GPSP (GBA Emulator) and SFC emulator for ARK?

I keep trying to get them in through INSTALL.ZIP but it doesn't show the install in ARK unlike PSPFiler.

I would love to be able to have my SFC and GBA games on the go again.

Install VitaFTP to transfer files wirelessly rather than trying to install things all the time -

http://wololo.net/downloads/index.php/download/7673

It already has the install.zip in a save file ready to go.

Yes! Is Arcade Darts and autoloader like the other 3.36 exploit was?

Edit: Just read it was a bit of a bitch. Can live without an exploit for now.

Hot Brain was released and it seems to be faster.
Not on the AU store, sadly :/ I'll look into how needing another base game works (a la Patapon 2), see whether it's worth my while.

Edit: Is there any way I can buy Numblast for PS3 (that's still available) and transfer it to Vita, or would that be blocked now?

The PS3 and PSP versions are different games. PSP is the only one that will work.

Umm could anyone maybe help me out? I won't keep it long and probably update my Vita anyway to be able to access PSN as soon as 3.36 can't connect anymore but I figured it might be nice to play a bit Phantasy Star Portable 2 on my Vita for a week. I used some VHBL exploits before but things seem a bit different now and I'm confused.

I bought Arcade Darts and downloaded the exploit save but it seems now I have to sacrifice another game for VHBL to work? o.o I can no longer just launch the exploit game (Arcade Darts in my case) and wait for VHBL to load?

If so, that's the step that confuses me:

Use fake_np to sign VHBL.ISO with your base game.

The base game must NOT be a crappy minis or 3.18 exploit game (that includes not using Arcade Darts as the base).

Soo could I just use Uno that I still have from my previous exploits and use that as my base game? Is there any more indepth tutorial? I'm tech literate but the readme obviously assumes some knowledge I don't have yet :/

Thanks for any help in advance! :)

EDIT: got it working thanks to The Zett's videos!

A question in advance, how would I go deleting everything of VHBL when I eventually plan to move on? I have PSP Filer installed but I guess I can't delete VHBL fully while PS Filer is running or can I? And can PSP Filer delete itself, as in, is the EBOOT loaded into the RAM? :o
