Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

I think in the case of the Vita and PSP... no. Pretty sure they have in the case of the PS3 though (but it's been a while since I tried doing *anything* with my CFW (backup) PS3... even powering it on ahaha).

So if I already have the exploit via Mad Blocker Alpha, is there any reason to get this one instead?
What firmware are you on? Only reason to get this is (I imagine) it's the only one that works on 2.02. Unless the Mad Blocker exploit works with that firmware, but I don't know.

Meh. Very tempting, but I think I'm going to wait until a real Vita exploit is found. PSP homebrew is nice, but I don't own a whole lot of PSP games I want to play on my Vita, and PSP emulators aren't perfect.

Uno (PSP) is on sale this week on the Japanese psn store for just 100 yen. Just bought it. It should work, right?

When the exploit is ported, yes. If you got the mini-version anyway.

My 16 GB memory card is still in transit and I wont get it until like Tuesday. Should I be worried? I have a 4 GB, but I want my Homebrew on the 16 GB. Will it be possible to transfer over the data (redownload isn't an option, because Sony will have surely removed the exploit by the time my card will come!)

Yes, back up to PS3 or PC with OpenCMA and then move it over to the 16 gig before they update the firmware. Sony's slow, you got at least a week.

Kinda OT but are 32GB memory sticks available yet? Are any companies working on them?

So using this firmware exploit locks you out of PSN... But is it still posible to buy vita games on your PS3 and transfer them over?

The Vita is still secure, only the emulator has a vulnerability which the hackers are exploiting. Don't depend on being able to do anything as it would be easy for Sony to implement checks and bans...

After a couple of failed attempts, finally got my $10 PSN :) and bought Uno.

I can now finally get rid of my PSP :).

I wouldn't recommend that, it's still useful for ripping UMDs and nice to have in case you decide you want to update the Vita to play a new game or use PSN.

I haven't done a firmware update with eCFW, it won't require me to put all my stuff back on the Vita again right? Just do the FW update, then the exploit, use Uno instead of MBA and things will be the same as they were?

i just got the game and updated to 2.02, many people say there's no difference between 2.01 and 2.02 but since in the official post video it shows running on 2.02 i guess is better to be on the safe side, now the waiting game

I'm sitting this one out whilst waiting for more permanent solutions. My problem being that my 8 Gb memory card is saddeningly small for homebrew purposes :/

E: Or...just download Uno and use the exploit in the future when I eventually get a bigger memory card?

You can download Uno now, but I would recommend getting Open CMA installed so you can use CMA via USB while in Airplane mode on the Vita. Then you'll still be able to transfer Uno to and from your Vita via PC even after they pull it from the store.

Also, don't upgrade your Vita once a new firmware is out or you'll loose access to the exploit.

I have the GCP exploit. I hope it will be okay to simply wait for updated save files for GCP exploit to work on 2.02
Should be a trivial matter to port the new exploit to the older games. A few days tops if the past is anything to go by.

I'm on the Mad Blocker Alpha exploit, and I'm updating regardless just to finally rid my life of that game's awful icon.

So I'm still trying to get Open CMA 5 to work. The Vita is picked up by the PC (autoplay), but as soon as I try to connect to PC within the content manager, the connection fails. Any advice on how to fix this?

I had the same problem and it just turned out that I hadn't turned on Content Manager Assistant on my PC after I had patched it with Open CMA. Make sure its on, and then try to connect it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the past games back on the store already? If so, is a new game (Uno) really necessary?

They're patched and then re-uploaded, so the exploit only works on the original file. That's why it's so important to back the games up with CMA before Sony removes them.

It was on. I think my problem is my PC isn't recognizing the Vita correctly. Anybody know if there is a vita driver I can download to fix this? I checked device manager and I can't find the Vita listed anywhere.

Vita shows up under Portable Devices in Device Manager.

Not sure of any drivers to install for it.

Strange, there is no portable devices section in my Device Manager.. The Vita shows up when I check autoplay settings though. I'm on Vista if that makes any difference.

I assume you've tried plugging it in while Device Manager is up to see if anything new pops in. That would be the Vita, then you could try this.

And make sure you're using a USB2 port. USB3 will not work since Sony isn't abiding by USB standards so the backward compatibility is borked (unless that was fixed since I last tried).

Thanks very much for the advice. I uninstalled all my USB drivers and then replugged in the Vita so it could install its driver. Works like a charm now. Thanks again.

So sony havent yet removed the game from the Store? I wonder if they are playing some kind of mind game this time (wololo said they wont release the thing until sony takes the game from the store)

Or maybe they have better things to do on the Sunday before New Year's Eve.

Based on the sorry state of the store, I bet you can count the number of employees who actively maintain it on a fingerless hand.

I doubt it, and wololo said usually. If Sony takes a week to remove it, they'll probably just release it anyway.

So the next game is Uno for PSP? I'm still stuck om 1.8 with Mad Blocker and would like to go to 2.02 and I have my fingers just now on the buy button for Uno EU :P

How is the GBA emulator on the Vita? Because I need to finish Mother 3.

GBA emulation seemed fine in my extremely limited testing, and others have said it works well too. SNES is where there are problems, not sure if the CPU speed options in TN-C made a difference or not.

Well then game get! :D If I understand this correctly I have to update to 2.02 first and then buy Uno on the Vita? Or can I do it with my PS3 somehow and keep 1.8 until the exploit for Uno is out?

You don't have to update if you have a PS3. Buy it on PS3, connect the Vita to the PC with OpenCMA and go into the Content Manager, go to PC->Vita, then move the USB plug from the PC to the PS3. Lets you get around the version check since it will have been spoofed already through OpenCMA. I think it also gave me an error when I tried to transfer then sat at the transfer screen for a bit, but then it transferred and installed fine.
