Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

I really doubt it since I expect they'll be trying to reduce costs and most people realise HDMI would have been great after they buy it ;) But who knows.

the psp wasn't in the much of a different boat than the vita and the second version got video out with that. I figure it would be worth the buck or two it would take to add HDMI to get a number of people to upgrade. I know I would go after a 2k series it if had video out. Heck I am still planning to pick up a 2-3k psp at some point to play birth by sleep on my tv lol

Well if you want to play JSR on the beach/toilet/airplane/anywhere then there isn't much choice unless you want to give JSR's controls a go with touchscreen on iOS/android(?) ;)

Oh I didn't realise it was that cheap to add HDMI in which case it seems like it would be worth it. I'm sure it will come eventually, but I was thinking by the time the PS4 came out so less likely to compete as much with PS3.. but speculation - haven't heard anything

Ya, I'd probably trade up if the 2k version had some form of video out.

But don't tell Sony that.

Honestly, by the time the 2k revision is released, there may be some kind of CFW hack that allows IP Video out. That'd be my dream come true.

^ Is that like video streaming wirelessly? Not sure but I feel like that would be asking too much of the vita - except for like psp level emulation or psx games etc perhaps?

Ya, wireless video out to PC. I know it's asking for a lot, but damnit it would make my day.

How good is LBP vita? It really seems like LBP was made to be a portable game to play on the go. I never really got into the game on PS3 as I never felt it was a game to dedicate a number of hours playing.

Isn't the Vita-2000 supposed to have HDMI for video out purposes?

IMO LBPV should have been LBP3. It deserves to be a sequel to the PS3 versions as it's that good.

And we know nothing about any revisions at this time.

Personally with so many people now used to HD,looking at a sub native vita game on their living room TV is going to look fucking dreadful.

Great idea really yeah, would be an insane ability. Like a reverse wii-u lol.

Not a bad idea for sony to actually make that imo (although ps3 sales :'(?) -especially if it isn't that expensive... if someone manages to do it with CFW then hats off to them!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002RL9F38/ - actually I think that's useless, nvm..I thought it might be able to offset some of the processing (with CFW or something of course)...probably not enough just the wireless transmitting.

you would be surprised how cheap things can be, personally I love using Raspberry Pi as an example of exactly how little some things cost. For reference it's a $25 mini computer that is able to output HD video over hdmi lol

That's pretty cool about teaching computer science in schools with that and basically being a tiny portable computer..as long as you can find a screen! Quite a bit packed onto that too yeah, wow! Come on Sony! Must be worried about competition with ps3?

I don't get it, why would they be worried about competition with the PS3? Who would buy a (at this point) more expensive portable device just to hook it up to their TV? I think they just didn't want to stuff another feature in there for now, hold off for the second revision.

that's my guess, though it is a little lame that sony won't even sell reviewers a special version of the vita that can capture video... it's really hurting the quality of video reviews from sites like gametrailers and IGN, and personally I like video reviews so I can see the issues the reviewers were talking about and form my own opinion ><:

The devkit units have/had video out.

This is what Sony should do for Vita revision.

Vita 2000 (£200) - Improved OLED screen, 16GB internal memory, HDMI out, PSN+ 3 months, digital copy of Killzone

Vita Budget (£120) - LCD screen, 8GB internal memory, digital copy of LittleBigPlanet

The 2000 would be for the tech nerds/gamers, and the budget would be for the casuals/kids and etc. They can bundle the 2000 with games like Killzone, Soul Sacrifice and etc. The budget can be bundled with games like LittleBigPlanet, SmartAs, eyePet, inVizimals and etc.

Right, all it is is extra advertising for the device. If people see me live streaming AC3: Lib on Twitch then they might get the itch and run out and buy one. One in many unfathomably stupid moves on Sony's part with this device.

so no Spy Hunter for me today it seems.

It's pretty damn funny it says out for out for delivery in the morning but then they put it on hold.

That Sony for you.

they either overhype and overexpose their shit till the point people get sick of the game before the actual release(examples Uncharted 3,All Stars)or just hide it completely so people forget about it.

Again, Sony is messed up in the head, just look at how they release small games next to the biggest AAA.
I think Sony's intentions are to release Soul Sacrifice the same time as Monster Hunter 4 to compete with it. I think the game could have been finished in December because Inafune said it will be his sacrifice to get it out this winter. Once the info was out on Mon Hun release date then you have SS release being the same time frame. I could be wrong but I think Sony is trying to see what SS does against Monster Hunter.

Just completed it, it's very good. Some people even mentioned that it's the best LBP. Technically very polished, its gameplay takes advantage very well of the new controls.

And there are a lot of awesome levels/games created by the community that deserve to be sold separatedly at a cheap price for people who don't have the game : quality wise they can be compared to phone games.

It's a great game, very solid in all its points.

It would be really stupid, MH4 will destroy Soul Sacrifice if released at the same time. Better to skip its release as much as possible.

I was about to say the same thing, but then I remembered we are talking about the PR genius of Sony... >_>

^ I disagree.. definitely make it compete with MH! They want to push the vita platform...3DS will get a huge boost once MH4 hits - especially without a decent competition..?

I have this feeling Sony wants to downplay vita (as a product to consumers) at the moment in favour of PS3 for some reason..

I bet they are making much more on PS3 than Vita per unit sold (older technology).

PS3 still hasn't reached a lot of less economically developed countries where I hear PS2 is still going strong.

If they can get a handheld device which plays games similar to the PS3 AND ALSO have them on the TV, as well as videos...they might be worried about missing out on those sales..(sony paranoia?)

As zulux21 said with the raspberry pi - it's cheap! if they wanted to add it they could have and judging by the size of that thing, it doesn't need the form factor of the vita dev kits to fit it..

I mean who knows but just a hunch...even from the way they advertise it..they don't want people to get the idea that it is a ps3 replacement..

of course i could be chatting shit lol hdmi out in rev2 - make it more attractive to customers once they earn more on each vita - which is going to be hard to do when they drop the price which is why I was thinking revision 3..

They should stop pumping money in lbp games. They are flops , and costs money they could have spend on other new ip

Let me say that you are wrong. LBP has been more than a worthwhile venture for SCE. ;)

This is a bad idea, and if Sony legitimately thinks that is a sound strategy they are insane.

Internal memory wont ever happen.

PSVita Go, this time every game is on PSN.

..you not liking something is NOT a reason for them to stop making it.

They make more games because each title is a multimillion seller with great reviews, and the IP has a great, big and active community. So makes sense to keep supporting it.

And I'd say that Sony is the big company that released the biggest number of new IPs this gen. I'd also say that is the company with a bigger number of new IPs announced (and rumored). So to support a successful IP doesn't stop them to release more new stuff.

My guess is that the will make a big push for SS and release it 2-3 weeks before MH4 and then they will release God Eater 2's VITA version the following month.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but will the 6 free games for signing up with PSN+ be a constant deal?

Thinking about picking up a Vita but will probably not happen until after Christmas.
PSN+ is one of the main reasons why I'd do it, and it'd feel pretty crappy if I lost out on the 6 free games due to some early adopter kind of deal.

Releasing two very similar titles within 1 month with Monster Hunter in between is equally insane. That could easily dry sales of both of these Vita games. It would make more sense to leave as much space in between these titles as possible. Do we know the MonHun release date?

there will always be a game collection but those games will change. Gravity rush and Uncharted will stick around through at least December though, can't say any of the other games will though. If you have a ps3 you could always just download them on that and secure that you get them that way.

So I'm playing uncharted last night in my bed at night before going to sleep. I'm all relaxed and comfortable. Next thing I know I'm standing on my bed holding my vita up to a light bulb.

Really enjoying the game but please...don't do that again :P

You missed the most important part of LBP: the DLC. All those costume and level packs ensured that when Sony gave the games away for free during the Welcome Back program they were getting some nice change in return. Sackboy is a money machine.

haha yeah it was cool but what about all those people playing it....outside!

walk around asking for a lighter to shine on your vita ;)

brb

So what should they do?

As someone else said, leave enough space between them. If they know the release of (hypothetically) MonHun releasing in august, then release Soul Sacrifice 3 months earlier. Then you might even be able to ride on the MonHun hype (which in my opinion, is one of the reasons God Eater burst sold as well as it did), and release God Eater 2 like a month after MonHun. Every scenario that puts all 3 releases close together can only be disadvantageous for Sony, because in the end the majority of the mainstream buyers will always get the original and avoid the copies (or what they perceive as copies) if they need to make a choice.

And if it comes out early in the year, just sit it out.

obviously they should just buy out capcom and put MH4 on infinite hiatus until they finish converting it to the vita to make sure the vita launch of SS has as high of a chance as possible to be successful.

Of course. Obvious solution! Simply buy up every developer! Why didnt I think of that.

Thanks for the heads up, my Fiancee would be pissed if I did that to her while she was sleeping.

"One second love, it's a cool new feature!"

It's probably more likely that Sony will delay release if there is anything that someone (could be Inafune, could be within Sony) think needs fixing. Gran Turismo and Trico pretty much exemplify this philosophy. Probably Journey as well.

K,MH4 will be released in march 2013 http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/20/tgs-monster-hunter-4-hits-japan-march-2013

whereas SS may release around the same time too
