Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

So in the last month I have picked up LBP, Assasins Creed & Most Wanted. It boggles my mind that people say that the Vita is a gameless wasteland and that the 3DS has this vast library of better games. I'm not trolling, I just genuinely don't understand this mentality.

Like surgery you cant save them all. Enjoy your vita and games man. Some people love to hate.

A pitchfork? Honestly one of the most harrowing mental images I've seen in a long time

Oh I'm not buying it I'm just really interested to see if it's any good and how it effects sales and thoughts in both vita and cod

Me too. I'm fascinated to see what happens

Potential DLC to fill in the "gaps"?

nope.. nope... I don´t think so.. The "problem" with Blue´s video (imo), is that he only play the games on EASY.
See there are 20 mini-games. They all have 4 difficulty settings. A game on Easy, is not the same as a game on a higher difficulty.. so you actually have 80 mini games, kind of. Genious difficulty changes every mini game alot. Blue has not played the game long enough (again IMO).

Edit.. but as he says, the daily challenges are only on Easy. Try Street smart challenges for a bigger challenge. One game on easy, one game on medium and one game on hard, it´s much more challenging..

I didn't see an option for Street Smart challenges while I was playing.

Kinda hypocritical to hear that from someone who has "searching for the Cock Ness Monster" as their user title thing.

I think Kafel used to be a mod, he may just be trying to give you a heads up. I'm not sure which way a mod would go with that but as a junior I believe any ban is permanent soooo... The whole sodomy thing can be seen as a "trigger" word. Not going to discuss it and shit up this thread, just giving you some info.

Go to Smart As World.. you can find Near challenges (like the LBP Vita challenges) and Street smart Challenges there..! There is much "game" in Smart As...
Smart As... is not a game that is supposed to be played for many hours in a row, just some small sessions every day.. it´s just great to play in between some of the other games on Vita. It´s refreshing to have something "else" on my Vita, than the normal games.

And Yoshida is damn nice. I tweeted him my problems, and he contacted a Dev from the team, who is helping me right now.. just wauw.

Sure, it's not supposed to be played for hours on end, but considering the few minute sessions left me kinda bored, it concerns me related to how long I would want to play it. I will admit that higher difficulties might make me stick around longer, but how much can you modify the base concept of those puzzles. Also notable is that you can only be officially scored on your first run every day, so it's not like I would want to play it for 5 minutes anyway.

wow Smart As won't let you cheat, if you suspend the game during a test, it will quit the test when you resume lol

and dang and the higher difficulty, it's kicking my ass lol

I get your point. And I agree to a certain degree. Look at your video, one of the screens even tells you to "train in the free play area, to improve your score". But You have to like these type of games to be hooked on Smart As... I love challenging puzzle games and brain games, so the game is perfect for me.
And the puzzles really change. Take that game in your video "chain reaction", on genius you have 3 different colours to manage, and some white pins that can be any colour.. it almost breaks your brain at first.
And notice that when you reach genius difficulty the game suddenly displays the ""how to play" thing again. Because it changes the minigame somehow, by adding some small detail or something like that.

But enough from me about this game.. I sound like some PR guy ..lol...

btw. one last thing.. here is the R that turned out to be a N..

And here is the one the game recognized.

the game really has problems with some letters.. R especially, therefore I use a "r" instead of a "R". It recognizes small letters better..

I will admit I'm not into puzzle games like Smart As but I'll happily try them at least, see if I can be pleasantly surprised. Brain Training on the DS had Sudoku and Picross as standalone activities if I remeber correctly, this doesn't have anything except playing the games you've already played on the daily training...

Also writing letters sucks sometimes. Sometimes the touch screen is really inaccurate (Chain Reaction annoys me when I can't seem to attach the line no matter how close I get).

Also I've only been able to play it for a couple of days. I need to start getting press codes like you, you lucky bastard :P

Yesterday, when I tried to draw "4" it recognizes as being "9" every single time. A patch could take care of that, I guess.

About that writing thing... an O can become a C, becase you do not connect it correctly (a small part is still open). A 4 becomes a 9 because you make the bottom line to curved. It all comes down to the nature of the games.. you are under stress, you have to hurry, so you make small mistakes (especially if you have a bad handwriting like me).
But try to start the game in Free Play. Test all your letters and numbers by writing the wrong letter on purpose, that way you can clearly see where you make mistakes.. I learned that I had to write a small r instead of a big R, because I tend to make an extra line at the top (just like Blue does in his video), and it recognizes it as a N instead.
It´s just like every other game around. practise makes perfect..! ;o)

I don't understand why their interface expects a person to write out a response.

Why didn't they put the freaking numbers on an obnoxious wheel like they did with the anagram mini-game? Fighting a terrible interface brings back memories of Brain Training's Baaaaah roooo!

wasn't brain training like that? You occasionally had to tweak how you wrote certain characters to get it to recognise them consistently

Anyone else seeing a lot more activity on Near? I posted earlier saying that I went from about 14-15 to 37, with the majority playing Liberation. Now it seems every time I update Near, one or two get added. I'm up to 52 in my area now.

Do you think it's Assassin's Creed? Other games? Generally cheaper price of the Vita? All of that?

Anyone still got a spot free on their friends list? I want more near stuff :/ Havent gotten a puzzle for that treasure map game in ages and other near stuff isnt too hot without more friends either.

PSN:TomaLexiVita

I'll try returning favors of near gifts (like treasure maps). I share AC3:L collectibles atm too when applicable.

It was a little bit like that. Brain Training never had any trouble with my numerals, though, so I have to give BT's devs credit for that.

Smart As especially hated my 4s. When I let the tops connect, they were considered 9s. When I had them open at the top, they were considered to be 2s. It registered one of my 4s as a 3.

Is it so good? I watched some videos on youtube and technically it appears not so good :S

I wish I never saw videos of the PC version. The graphics-whore in me wanted to ruin the fun I'm having with the Vita version at first: A higher resolution alognside some anisotropic filtering would be enough to make this game look incredible on the portable. As it is, sometimes it's borderline PSP resolution. Once I got used to it, though, it's a lot of fun and I'm glad I purchased it. Imagine what these guys could do with a game made from the ground-up on the system.

I haven't played the game but I suspect you'll need to write the letter with two strokes.
You should download and try out the demo, if only to listen to Cleese play a cheeky game host. I was impressed by the amount of functionality that was retained.

The problem with CoD Declassified is that, even if it plays well, the multiplayer is still RIDICULOUSLY barebones, so it's still not worth it.

But what if the Multiplayer in Declass is actually fun..? it might not be a fullblown COD MP expirience, but what if it is just what the series needs.:? a simpler MP with good gameplay..? (although the number of players limits the fun a lot)

Then I will be glad, but I mean, there's just a point where you think "okay, that's just way too little to justify". Really small amount of maps, all based on previous CoD games, same amount of players, hardly any modes, and then a bunch of stuff people asked Nihilistic on Twitter whether it was in there and they said "no" but I can't remember what those are off-hand.

It shouldn't, at $50, have less content than a $7 Gameloft game. But it does.

I won a Smart As code (EU) in a Facebook code giveaway! I'm not too interested in the game myself, so I'm going to give it to someone of you guys :) Is there someone who is genuinely excited for it?

Also, CoD looks decent going by that video, might pick it up in a few weeks time.

I've enjoyed some of trial a lot. Suck at World Wheel on Genius though. :(

Edit: Oh EU, nvm

random question - does anyone know if you can unlock Japanese 3G Vitas so you can use other Sims? I've got one and it'd be nice if I could put a nice cheap data only sim in it in the UK.

I'm quite interested in it, and it's my 21st birthday 2 weeks tomorrow! ;)

you should post a random arethmic question.. then Carl and MrKlaw can see who has the fastest answer..! (in the spirit of Smart As...)
