Thank you, Toma, Totobeni, and Cookie 18

You guys are a great help. I do have my eyes on Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure, so thats why I didn't list it

Awww, sucks to hear that P3P and 3rd Birthday aren't that good, they look phenomenal from the outside lol, Wish I had a way to try them before hand

Just joined PS Plus and got:
Gravity Rush
Uncharted
Jet Set Radio
Retro City Rampage
WipeOut 2048
and FF Tactics War of the Lions

(reserved at least, my card is tiny lol)

All for 17.99
....

It already payed for itself in less then 1 minute... Ill be damned yo...
P3P is fucking amazing, don't listen to them.

Just get Hot Shot Tennis Get a Grip (PSP version) on Vita.

it's very good on Vita with the real analogue stick.

I finished it (excluding post game) using only the d-pad and preferred using it despite the game giving the instruction to use the analog.

What are the best ps classics? Which ones hold up with todays games and aren't just nostalgia trips. I have 40 bucks in psn moneys.

I never owned a psone but have played ff7 and 8. I'm thinking about getting ff9 and mgs but don't know how well the later holds up since I have played twin snakes.

I have done a LOT of classic PS1 games on my PSP and now my Vita the past few years and I think the following ones are some worth looking into:

Crash Bandicoot 1, 2 and 3 look absolutely incredible and hold up really well even today. Very simple platforming with minimal bullshit, some great levels and gameplay. I know many disagree with me but IMHO they hold up way better than Mario 64 does and are the absolute best retro 3D platforming games. I actually like Mario Galaxy way better than 64 because it feels it moved closer to Crash with focus on platforming. Great trilogy of classic games with minimal flaws but one that is worth mentioning is the terrible save system in Crash 1. You can only save when you complete a bonus round in a level or find a gem. 2 and 3 let you save whenever you want. Bonus is Crash Team Racing Best kart racing game ever made imo. It does have decreased value as handheld game tho when it loses local multiplayer but if you are a nut for this stuff I would still recommend it as it holds up really well and the single player campaing is actually really fun with some good challenges if you want to do everything. I would recommend this for the PS3 more tho if you can access some multiplayer fun.

Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9 are still RPG classics. I especially would recommend 7 and 9. Prerendered backrounds help a lot with graphics holding up but 7 does have the terrible blocky characters that can be a little too much for some people that have no nostalgia glasses for them.

Metal Gear Solid is another great one and I am firmly in the camp that thinks it is better than Twin Snakes. Music is great and graphics hold up while in gameplay but it can look pretty jarring when they do closeups of characters in cutscenes. Story and characters are fun if you can sit through the sometimes long codec conversations.

Silent Hill is one of the games that hasn't exactly ages as well as some others especially when it comes to the graphics and teeeeeeerrrrible voice acting :d. However when it comes to horror there is no other game as old that holds up as well as this one. Athmosphere still holds up and when it comes to oppressive sounds and music this is the best game I have played in that regard. If you like horror games and can manage to sit trough bad graphics, VA and tank controls this is worth looking into since the things that this game does well it does REALLY well.

Resident Evil 1, 2 ,3 are some of my favourite games ever but I have this feeling I wouldn't recommend them so easily. Unlike Silent Hill these ones barely work as any horror anymore but what they do well is the gameplay itself. Tank controls are a big turnoff to some people but if you can look past that they are very well crafted survival games. 1 is the one that has aged the worst with SH levels of bad VA but it does have a newfound camp value and if you are old fan this one doesn't dissapoint even after being used to the vastly superior Gamecube Remake. Resident Evil 2 is the absolute gem of old retro RE and is the one I definately recommend the most. Best value for money when it comes to the series. VA is way better than original, graphics are more varied especially when it comes to the zombies and other monsters (original had like 3 different zombies while sequel has like, 10+?). Two different scenarios that actually makes 2 playthroughs more interesting than the original despite both having 2 playable characters. Resident Evil 3 is good also. Feels more modern than the other 2 and when it comes to gameplay it holds up the best. If you are new to the series I recommend checking out RE2 if you are interested for some retro survival games. Prerendered backrounds go a long way helping the graphics.

Tombi/Tomba holds up really well. Its hard to describe the game but it's kinda like if Zelda was a 2D platforming adventure game. Check it out!

Parasite Eve really interesting RPG and feels unique. Prerendered backrounds help with graphics yet again and the story is something different you are expected to see in most RPGs. Great lenght too and it keeps your interest and ends before you get bored of the thing, a curse I have for some RPG games nowdays.

Klonoa while it is very simple in design it has almost unbeatable charm when it comes to PS1 games. If you are fan of 2D platformers and want something light to play check this one out definately. It won't give you any challenge really but it is one of those games you enjoy from start to finish.

Rayman graphics look great and is just a great 2D platformer overall. If you don't like easy games like Klonoa go for this one. Rayman can be fuckin brutal when it feels like it and is actually one of the hardest PS1 games I have played. There are some life codes and stuff if you can't get through it legit. Best 2D platformer for the PS1 in my opinion when it comes to gameplay discussion only. I also can't stress how great the music is!

On the other hand Medievil is the kind of game I would recommend if you have nostalgia for it but othervise there are better games. I have fun with it but it is pretty dated game.

GAMES THAT DONT HOLD UP!:
Tomb Raider man I was surprised how badly this one has aged. If you want it for nostalgia reasons I would still recommend Tomb Raider Anniversary (has anyone played the PSP version? If that is decent I would actually be interested...). Just annoying game to play for me anymore and even nostalgia glasses couldn't save this one for me.

Gex Deep Cover Gecko This is like the anti Crash for me. I liked this one as a kid but I couldn't bother finishing it on PSP. Feels like a bad version of Mario 64 with platforming being really weak.

New vita owner here, hi ^^.

Just a quick question, does the Vita have to 'load' the game cart everytime I turn it on? I have Lumines in and everytime I turn my vita on it pops up for 5 seconds doing something for it before I can start using the vita. Just a bit annoying =/ surely it could do it in the backgrounnd or if I actually tap to play the game.

Minis buy or don't buy round #33453

first the must have
Velocity :one of the best of it's genre, the warp ability add so much awesomeness to it.
Tetris: The modes (classic,laser,gravity..ect) make it the best Tetris on handheld ever.
Where is my Heart? :Sweet and neat puzzles game that is not short too

Think before buying
Floating Cloud God Saves the Pilgrim:shump so it's not for everyone but since you need to save the lil monks that add strategic flavor too it,it's a beautiful game but short.
Alpha Mission:shump classic and do everything a shump do, reptitive as a shump too.
CoConut Dodoge good time waster for your bus/car short travailing $1
Cohort Chess ,it's simple chess with how to learn chess and a mini game not bad for $3 but it's as good as the other free chess flash games on the internet
The Impossible Game it's hard-so not for everyone-but so fun if you like that sort of games $1
Karimogi sadly it's not a Kirby clone (well Karimogi is a blue Kirby) but a Tetris like game,a actually fun but $3 is too much for what it is.
Vibesagain the price ($5.49) is the problem again but it's an alright rhythm game with nice art and mucis.

Do not buy
One Epic Game the jokes are bad and outdated, the 2D platforming is broken
VT Tennis it's just not fun and not a good tennis game and $5 is crazy for it.
Hero of Sparta $5 is way too much,it's a God of War like hack n slash game but with no depth what so ever, you may want this but don't do it.
Canabalt Mindless iOS one button game, don't woth the $3
Hysteria Project/Hysteria Project 2 just video..both are short (half hour)

more on Minis in the next time

Just got sonic allstars racing last night. Although the game is a significant downgrade from the consoles graphically,it look amazing on vita. The colors absolutely pop and its native rez. It is identical to the ps3 version from a feature perspective. I needed a cart racer oj my vita and this is it. Picked up unit 13 as well.

The huge graphical downgrade and the framerate drops all over the tracks was just too much for me.

Wipeout 2048 (launch title) shits all over Sonic Transformed, it did a way better job(native res,4xAA,rock solid 30fps,look almost as good as Wipeout HD).

PSVita is not some weak ass hardware to get ports like this but Sumo were just so freaking lazy and should be ashamed of this port, I'd prefer if it was just delayed(like the 3DS version) and they put more effort into it.

Minis

FTFY.

Though to even further fix it:

Buy:

Whatever will help you get an eReader on the system since Sony is stupid.

Don't buy:

Anything else. Buy PSP/PSX/PSP2 titles. Not shitty cellphone games. :3

I've said it before and I will say it again; When it comes to mini's, buy The 2D Adventures Of Rotating Octopus Character.

2011_rotatingoctopus_1.jpg

Just look at that cute little fella yelling PLAY ME, PLAY ME!
Kinda hard to describe the game, besides being hard, but I guess it's a platformer. Octo's octo friends are scattered throughout worlds and it's up to him to save them, by touching them.
Octo will move himself but you can turn him by pressing L, and let him jump by pressing R.
And eh.
That's it.
But man is it fun. :P

Bought Sonic & AS Transformed today. Wow, what a surprisingly good game. I was worried when I booted up the bonus Outrun course and saw massive slowdown through almost the whole race, but when I exited the game I notice there was a patch. Hoping it would help the slowdown, I downloaded it, and re-booted the game to play the same exact race. Happy to say it completely fixed it. Didn't see any slowdown in that race at all.

All in all, this seems great. Looks fantastic too.

Just started Jet Set Radio...

The 7 year old me who loved his Dreamcast just busted through my chest...

Please SEGA and Capcom....

Sidenote: Ill forgive them for PS2 but why doesn't this damn thing play PSN games??.... That would have set the world on fire.... ughh

Thanks dude. The crash games don't work on US vitas right?

I need a demo of Sonic Karters. the wii u version was sub HD, need to know if the framerate holds up on Vita and I'd get it here.

Wipeout is definitely not rock solid 30 fps.

So is it just possible that with some routers the Vita will never get off nat type 3? I ask because I've done everything that can possibly be done and still after days of trying still I have nat type 3.

Thank goodness I can turn off Voices in that Hello Kitty game.
Jeeze, so over the top.

I get S ranks, and it sounds like they're being punished.

Wipeout is definitely not rock solid 30 fps.

Per another poster, there is a patch that addresses the framerate issues. So, a demo would not be indicative of the patched game. Still have to get it ...

With how the game look and run on Vita (not good) I doubt they will put a demo anytime soon.

for now it look bad with big graphical downgrade on the track and cars, missing lighting effects and shadows and the track look really flat with very noticeable framerate drops 60% of the races time.

Wipeout is definitely not rock solid 30 fps.

well most of the time it is, unlike this game.

Sidenote: Ill forgive them for PS2 but why doesn't this damn thing play PSN games??.

well PSVita is not a portable PS3(and way weaker), it will be insane for all the devs for make 2 versions of their PS3 PSN games.

well most of the time it is, unlike this game.
Even after the patch? i would get this game if it wasn't for all these performance issues.

really hope the sale is still up by the time I get my PSN card! hoping to get that MGS HD collection!

anyone compared Music Unlimited with Spotify?

He is spot on at times though IDK i'd just like to get a few opinions on this game.

If you have the time go through the thread - literally everyone who has bought it - including me thinks it looks good, runs fine and the latch fixed all the worst frame issues

I disagree on Tomb Raider, although this game would badly need texture filtering, but I'd also add Blood Omen and Soul Reaver to your list for starters.

anyone compared Music Unlimited with Spotify?

Yeah. I prefer that Music Unlimited has a collection feature instead of just playlists like Spotify, and the Vita app is great, but the PC and mobile experience for Music Unlimited is bad, especially wretched on PC. I would recommend Rdio over both personally.

So I have PS Plus, and have automatic updates set to ON, yet none of the game patches are updating automatically, any reason why?

I still have to click the refresh button on the live screen and update manually

If you have the time go through the thread - literally everyone who has bought it - including me thinks it looks good, runs fine and the latch fixed all the worst frame issues
Cool, guess i'll buy this game then.

Dude, watch some videos on youtube. It should give you a fair impression of how it looks.
I for once love the game.

This guy has a bunch of playthroughs of that game and of other PSVita games.
Thx though YT vids can hide the slowdown.

Is RE2 working in the Vita. Mine gived with the european PS+ can't be transfered/download to the Vita.

It did work, but it was pulled. If you got it onto your Vita before it was pulled, and made a backup to your PC, you can restore that backup to the Vita. Otherwise, you're SOL for now and'll have to wait for Sony to enable it again.

Got FIFA Football for £5 and am quite surprised by it. Wasn't expecting much, but enjoying it a fair amount thus far.

However, it really makes me hope for a portable NHL sooner rather than later.

It kinda sounds like I'm pushing you to buy it but I'm more trying to present a true opinion against totos nonsense.

Obviously it depends if you want it, you like sega etc etc
Lol what?no i'm not feeling pushed to buy it,i was pretty close to getting it anyways and if the framerate is good enough as you said i'll get it soon enough thx.

Forget to tell yall,

Feel free to add me guys! Dont be shy!, DigitalOp on PSN

I have PASBR, CoD, WipeOut ( Not installed), and I will get Sonic Racing Transformed pretty soon.

Happy Gaming!
