Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Welp return forms for Amazon Germany completed, I hope my google-translated german wasn't too bad...and to receive my new console fast.

First console I'm sending back...it's a shame, as I was so hooked to Persona 4 Golden.

Anyways, is there a way to backup your stats, settings, Near stats to your memory card ?

A bit of a random question as I've been reading through the PS4/720 possibly delayed thread.

Has liking (or not) the Vita changed which home console you'd be more likely to choose next gen?

I know most of us will probably get both but if I had to choose one without knowing anything then I lean towards PS4 in part due to how much I have loved playing my Vita this year.

Good luck, they haven't fixed it for any of us, and refuse to offer any refunds. Sony isn't the best at managing a digital download store. There are lots of stories I have found about bugged games being put up that error on install, and go unfixed for weeks at a time. I don't expect to be able to play motorstorm any time soon.

Go to this support thread and add your voice to the rest of us complaining about their lack of customer service on this issue.

This generation (and the Vita) has done a few things to me and my priorities for consoles:

(1) I will no longer be a beta tester. I have enough games between Vita and PS3 that are in my backlog to easily sit and wait for a price drop. Hell, I even had to have my PS3 slim serviced. I've had at least 3 xboxes RRoD on me in some way. Yeah. So I won't be buying any time soon.

(2) I definitely have a preference for Sony consoles, I'm not sure why... Nintendo has gone in a direction that no longer interests or excites me and Microsoft seems to be heading the same way with their focus on Kinect and their lack of exclusives.

So, I'll be looking at a PS4, but not at launch unless something very important to me makes it worthwhile. I'll contently stay with my Vita/PS3/360 in the meantime. And I think next gen will be a single console experience for me unless MS does something to step it's game up and gets some exclusives I actually care about. After 3 Gears entries, I'm not dying to have the new Gears (though I will probably get it) and unless my Borderlands buddy picks up a 720, I won't have anyone that I am dying to play online with.

So yeah, to answer your question, I guess partially. I was already leaning this way, but picking up a Vita has reinforced it, especially with handheld trophy hunting and cross-buy, etc.

Not sure why the interns have been handling the Store lately, but it's been pretty bad. I hadn't heard of this yet, but add it to the list with the Big Sky Infinity cross-buy problem (when bought on PS3) and the Unit 13 PS+/holiday sale discount fiasco.
Makes me wonder what will be broken in tomorrow's update.

Not at all, really. If Vita continues to offer cross-buy and cross play with PS4, than I'll feel like I get some of the best of Playstation with the use of the Vita.

I've got more friends on 360. Live is a better online service for me. PS+ is great, yes, but I wonder how it'll start up on a new system...

Best Vita has done for me, as far as Playstation Brand goes, is that I MIGHT not wait as long to buy their next main console. Especially if they make PSN games shared between the PS4 and Vita as a standard #YOPO deal (HA!)

Neither Home Consoles Big exclusives sway me over which system to get, but their downloadable games surely do, and with those, Xbox all the way. Vita's exclusives like Dokuro, Ragnarok Odyssey, Gravity Rush, and ACIII Liberation actually appeal to me more than their console exclusive retail counterparts...

It's not Vita - it's PSN+ which makes me much more probable to pick PS4 ;)

I'll probably wait about 6 months after release and buy second hand machine from someone disspaointed with post launch drought cheaply :D

Console downloadable titles wise and also general software wise I have had such a great time with the peculiar games SCE either developed or nurtured that they should get a lot of praise: Gravity Rush, fl0w, Flower, Journey, The Unfinished Swan, Echochrome, etc... just wow.

If online play is free on PS4 and not on Xbox I will go Sony next time again. If online play is free and it has better performing 3rd party games, I'll probably go Xbox.

Vita has little to do with my home console choises.

After playing Sonic & All Star Racing Transformed for so many hours, finally I got to collect 165 stars and unlock the Sega Ages. It's amazing playing as the
Hornet 41 and the Tom Cat from Afterburner
, makes me wonder why doesn't Sega realeses a version of Daytona or AfterBurner for the Vita, they will translate great in the portable. (I will be happy some how happy if they make OutRun for the PSP at least compatible for the Vita).

Make it happen Sega.
 
Finished Gravity Rush. Was okay, but really repetitive. I think more mission variety like the Dusty missions would've been better.

And Kat is the harbinger of destruction from up high. Apparently she's the queen of the very top of that beanstalk pole kingdom?
Gravity Rush 2: Rush Harder confirmed? I dunno if I'd get that if it continues to have the repetition GR1 had.

Now I just gotta finish the challenges.

I guess there are a lot of options so it's what feels most comfortable to you.. for some reason the X button just feels better to me. I saw lots of comments and posts saying the right stick for acceleration/brake is best, etc. I'm so close to the plat! Finished up two out of the four festivals, rounding out the third. The supercars might be really annoying but I'm really starting to get the hang of this game, pretty happy.

After getting this double plat I dunno what I want to work on next.. Gravity Rush? I haven't unlocked everything in Wipeout, I really, really love those games but they're so insanely hard. I do have Dungeon Hunter en route, I might just go for the platinum in that because I do love dungeon crawlers.
 
Gravity sliding is so stupid. Half the time the six-axis freaks out thereby eating up the time you need for these gold time attack challenges.
 
Just ordered the COD bundle and a horizon screen protector. Hoping to sell COD for something at least.
The offers on PS+ are what pushed me to do it.
Are there any hardware issues I should watch out for?

I hope they don't. They could use that time to make a proper Call of Duty instead of Boredlands.

No, I mean Boredlands. B1 is probably one of the most repetitive and gets old in two minute games I've ever platinumed.

Loot wasn't good, shooting was unsatisfying and combat was "shoot these wave of idiots that'll rush you and then put you in second wind to where you have to kill one of them quickly to resecond-wind-kill-them until they're all dead" in New Game +. :/

I hope not. Why do I want to play a port of a mediocre game I played a few months ago? At the very least make a brand new Borderlands although I'd rather one not be made at all. I'm so over that franchise now.

I thought it was kind of janky but ultimately a really satisfying game. I platted it too! The way they handled (most of) the DLC was so awesome and I loved the zombie island one.

I'd be really excited because I loved BL1 but haven't played the sequel. Would be all over a Vita port.

See this would be awesome, but I unfortunately feel like Randy Pitchford is just saying stuff to appease people when he says he'd love to see it on Vita rather than something that could actually happen.

The thing to understand about gravity sliding is to TAKE YOUR TIME with it. It WILL freak out if you are kind of freaking out yourself and not being patient with it. Just do slow, controlled motions instead of trying to make quick turns or doing a full 180 fast. It's better to take that extra second or two to line up your direction after a turn well than to rush it and end up who knows where.

Of course you also have to learn to drift (actually, you shouldn't do tight turns without it at all), though the same "take it slowly enough" principle applies to it as to the rest of sliding.

Possibly. I am both a fanboy of MS and Sony systems. I have owned and enjoyed all of their consoles thus far.

For next generation, I would strongly consider going down to one. If there is good integration with the Vita, that could potentially swing things Sony's way. I enjoy the XBox experience very much though and it would be difficult to go away from it (especially since most of my console friends are currently in MS pocket).

Likely, I will end up with both again.

For a minority of games, it does help but really not that noticeably. Also, it might cause freezing & other problems in other games (IIRC, one of the PS1 FFs was like this, maybe VIII? using the faster loading introduced some glitches)

Also, going on a small trip tomorrow. I'm excited since this means I might finally make more progress in Persona 4!

or just play kid icarus and 999 and ignore my vita completely
 
Love this system so much but last night I had my first real scare. Something called the blue light of death. Screen wouldn't turn on, even when I plugged it back in. Luckily the restart failsafe menu worked and I was able to get it restarted no problem. Probably froze on me. I was quite scared for a minute or two.

That being said I just have so many games to play on it. One thing that is bugging me is how NG Sigma seems so unresponsive control wise. Like there's a drop off point on the stick. Anyone else notice this?

While I love JAW AND Stranger's Wrath and think it's was a fantastic port, Virtua Tennis 4 and PS All-Stars Battle Royale are the best ports as they kept the native res AND 60fps :) Stranger's Wrath is incredible though.

I said the same thing, but people called me crazy. My only complaint other than the annoying touch to first person shit.

It'll only happen if Sony pays for it, and Sony don't pay for ports. Or at least I hope they don't.

Let me preface this by saying that cod was a bit of a mess and not really something that I hope continues

But - cod on vita was the best seller on psn for that month and December. Despite it costing ten pound more than BO2 here in the UK
