The only PSN restrictions would be dev kit costs, and ratings fees. The last one is becoming irrelevant as many ratings boards are now offering official ratings approval for free.
I hope that means we'll get some of the more successful and impressive mobile games on the Vita
eventually, especially with developers who are pumping out quite a few. More so the 3D games than the 2D ones, since they tend to drain phone battery and take quite a lot of focus to play and would be smarter/worth having on Vita.
There are so many games being made....need to give the Vita more love. We don't just have to have hench and deep titles. But their pricing on Vita is a little on the steep side...hopefully that will go down too with some decent userbase growth....I'm really counting on that price drop but I feel like Vita needs at least one more major system seller in the first half of 2013 to re-spark things (people liking some new/recent games and all - and of course loads more ads, like way more). Need a GTA that won't coincide with GTA 5 or maybe Saints Row.. ( :'( ) - Even that South Park game being made Vita exclusive could do it.. did they already sell THQ's games?
I'm also worried about this thing I'm hearing with killzone games and input lag..that would be pretty terrible.. (I never played any killzone games before (after trying their demo I do remember feeling the aiming was much more difficult than with COD for example, maybe that was due to a delay..) but yeah I'm obviously going to try killzone mercenaries since it's on Vita....and looks pretty wicked). Won't be great if there is a delay or lag though.
Hopefully people pay attention/want things for a lot longer these days.. - maybe since broke and all. Glad xbox and ps4 are still a ways off.
We know they're working on things like getting trophies and PSN integration in there (or they've at least said they're thinking about that), so presumably those things will come soon. I don't know why more F2P games aren't on there, but I also don't know why more games period aren't on PSM. Like most things, Sony hasn't really marketed PSM at all.
About detecting different devices, I don't know for sure, but I would be shocked if it didn't support that functionality. We know they can at least detect whether you have buttons or not (since some PSM games offer button control).
That is awesome about the trophies and PSN but I don't think that's enough... they need to be able to support the larger and more impressive games or else people will just get the smaller/simpler games for their phone since it will cost less and they tend not to justify carrying around a Vita for. I know some of you guys really enjoy some of the PSM games especially by Futurlab and they are nice to accompany the other Vita games and also other people who don't have a game capable phone will probably feel the same but we'd be missing out.
I remember now like you said PSM games can differentiate between devices with buttons (if they want to), guess that should be enough but would be nice to set different graphical options automatically for the Vita if there would be a noticeable improvement...not much point currently I guess, lemmings is like the only "3D" game on there?
