And if you can only choose one:

- Buy UMvC3 if you want controls better suited for the Vita and decent single player modes

- Buy SFxT if you want a more robust multiplayer experience and can deal with the L/R triggers (because you'll be using them a lot)

- Buy MK if you can handle the gore (I couldn't) and want a deep, thoughtfully designed single player experience

- Buy BlazBlue if you enjoy awful, stiff fighting with terrible characters, music, and presentation.

hahaha oh man these reviews are cracking me up. If this guy was on here, Toto would seem like a saint.

I love how his Wipeout 2048 and Virtua Tennis 4 reviews are the exact same word for word, and all of his Nintendo related reviews are 5/5 AMAZING.

Is posting his username in poor taste?

No.

Username on amazon.co.uk is Dracula and he's a straight troll who contributes nothing.
I've reported him for abuse and hope amazon.co.uk deletes his content as it adds nothing to their site.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/A3CXSN33XI/

He's some sort of Wii U fanboy who thinks it's fun to troll the other consoles by giving all their top games or exclusives 1 star. (He gave BlOPS2 5 stars on Wii U and 1 star on x360... amusing, since I hear that BLOPS2 has a ton of technical issues on Wii U...)
Childish and unnecessary.

I think most of your points are valid until this. :)
Then again, I'm not going to tell you what I think of the DoA franchise. ;)
Well obviously he wants the attention, so probably not.

Give DOA5 a shot! It's a legitimately fantastic game.

I should give DoA a shot sometime... but it's hard to get past the idea that it's more about sex then being a good fighter lol.

What does it play like? If you can tell me it plays nothing like street fighter I might give it a look, if you tell me it plays like street fighter than screw ever playing it lol.

It doesn't play like Street Fighter. And I wouldn't compare it to Tekken either... those are two games I love.

Thinking back, the last DoA game I tried was DoA4 demo on x360. Didn't like it, it still felt like an inferior Tekken to me. I'm sure there's fans of the fighting systems and stuff that are used (just because a game has a certain aesthetic doesn't mean it doesn't have good gameplay, look at Skullgirls. Tons of people wrote that off as an anime fighter and hate the artstyle, but it's fighting system is actually ridiculously good, IMO).

I'm going to defer to Leona here, as I have next to no experience with the franchise (just enough to know it's not a 3D fighter that I like).

I added it to my cart before it was "sold out" and it hasn't been removed or anything. I'd go through with the purchase but I already got 32GB for $40 thanks to that Amazon/Circuit City snafu.

so what youre saying is that you'd be willing to sell it off?

32GB is sold out but...

Virtue's Last Reward and Persona 4 Golden are both $25.99!

Ugh. I'm already getting LBP and Dokuro... :/

im thinking about getting dokuro... but I don't think I would get to it any time soon so I will likely just hold off until it's likely added to plus sometime next year or so.

I need to get around to playing tekken. I am not big into fighters but I don't mind playing them for time to time. I absolutely detest street fighter 4 though, to hardcore for me or something :P

The fighters I enjoy tend to be simpler ones, Soul Cal (2-4), Blazblue (on stylish :P) Smash Bros (yes it's a fighter, a party fighter but still a fighter damn it), and random anime fighting games that are easily abuseable and mostly only fun because I like DBZ more than I should given it's quality lol.
I didn't mind my time spent with King of Fighters 13 either, but I wasn't a fan of virtual fighter that was given away with plus... it wasn't bad just not interesting for me.

In general I prefer playing extra modes in fighters instead of the vs in them. I spend most of my time on fighters in challenge towers or rpg like modes. I plan on picking up MK for the challenge towers and nothing more.

It's nothing like Street Fighter. The fighting is based less on memorization and more on combining strings and taking advantage of the environment/opponents' mistakes. Unlike Tekken, you have total control of your fighter (walls aside, the stiff side-stepping makes Tekken feel like a 2D fighter sometimes), and the interaction with the stages is the only one of all the fighting games I've ever played that doesn't feel like an afterthought.

The game is surprisingly deep, but even novices can look like badasses in no time.

Some DOA:U gameplay. I couldn't find a good gameplay trailer for DOA5, but this should give you a good sense of how fluid and cinematic the fighting is.

So I've been downloading Rayman Origins demo since it's a trial of the full game and I'm assuming I'll be able to purchase it at the discount price tonight and that way not have to download it later. Well, it's been going insanely slow. Like a megabyte every 20 seconds. I decided to pause it and start it back up again. I don't know why, but now it's going at about two megabytes a second.

Weird.

that looks better than I expected... what type of extra modes do the games sport? one of the things I hate about capcom fighters is the fact they are almost always bare bones when it comes to fighting modes (also the main reason I still don't own soul cal 5 because it lacks the extra modes that I loved from soul cal 2-4)

That Rayman Origins review is a riot! And the fact that he recommends the 3DS version (which barley plays at 30fps) is down right hilarious.

(1) Who knows if US PS+ will ever see Dokuro as a freebie. Japan/EU maybe, but I'm not betting on US. They'll start giving us PSM games or something.

(2) Smash Bros is not a fighter. :P It's a party game that involves people fighting. Fighter, in my book, implies something that has a fighting system with specific mechanics, combos, reversals, etc. Just had to get that out there. There's a reason I don't like Smash and it's because it doesn't have a fighting system. Sony Smash is a little more tolerable... but still not a fighting game. :)

(3) Strange that you don't like Street Fighter but you like KoF -- they're kind of similar... though KoF has maybe 4 buttons instead of 6? And I'm not a fan of VF either. To me, Tekken (and to a lesser extent, Soul Calibur) is (are) the 3D fighter(s) that I like. I couldn't get into the VF mechanics when I tried on PS2 with VF4 and that hasn't really changed to this day, though I give VF5:FS a fair chance now and again... DoA is similar to me where I just find myself wishing it played more like Tekken, so I've avoided it since those initial few demos I played around with.

DOA5 has a pretty lengthy story mode, but it's a really silly story. More like an easy way to get all the unlockables and learn the mechanics more than a substantive, MK-like story mode.

There are also your basic combat trials and training modes, but nothing that'll keep you coming back. Only multiplayer is where it's at, unfortunately.

You like Soul Calibur and Smash, so this should be right up your alley. Game is just fun.

DOA5+ does look good and I love SC and Smash. If there's a DOA5 360 demo I'm going to go try it out.

that Dracula guy is a massive douche bag it almost pissed me off his blatant fanboyism shows he has nothing better to do with his time fucking trolling ballsack. anyone downloading the SS demo later add me Loveordie028 for multiplayer

my friend found it strange with KoF as well. When I explained to him that I could easily do almost all of the combos I wanted to do in KoF but I struggle greatly at doing combos in street fighter he tried to explain to me that street fighter was easier to do but well I guess the timing or set up of KoF just meshes with me a lot better or something lol

I owned a tekken game once... but it was found in a parking lot and froze up when i got to character select :/
My friend is desperately trying to get me to get tag team 2, but in general I refuse to pay more than $15 for a fighter as I rarely get more than 10 hours of play out of them... and of course almost all fighters reach that $15 mark after the sequel comes out, but by then my friend won't play the old version because the sequel is out ><:
