Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Just a heads up for US users. There are some free TV episodes available on PSN. Seems like its the first episode of some NBC and USA shows.

Navigating on Vita: In the Video section > TV shows > Free TV Episodes.

I dont have a "Video" section on my US account on my Vita. That normal? Any setting for that? Only thing I am seeing is the Media section with the Tester episodes.

Edit: Nvm, thats probably a restriction because I have a EU IP on a US account. BAH. Region restricting FREE videos.

Top of the page edit: Buy FTL, Legend of Grimrock and Dungeons! (...)

(God, that Steam sale just reminds me that I'd sell a kidney for games like Frozen Synapse, SpaceChem, FTL, City builders or Grimrock natively being on Vita.)

... get Surge from the PSM section of the PSN store:

Is Breath of Fire IV as rad as its art suggests? I've been trying to figure this out for awhile now (as previous posts show), but I'm looking for a somewhat breezy, self-explanatory RPG that won't compel me to look for a FAQ. I'll be on a plane so that won't really be an option.

Any cheaper way to pick up DJMax other than the ps store? I'm just having a hard time justifying $45 for a handheld game.

There's three different difficulty levels, high production values & shittons of music (I'm pretty sure that you aren't even paying 1$ per song, you'd probably be paying 1,50$ per song if it was some "free" iOS game). Just cough it up.

I'd say the only way to justify the price is by ordering the cart from Pentavision directly, so you at least get a cart instead of just a download. That's what I'm going to do, I want the cart so that hefty 45-50$ price tag is more approachable.

I just got my cart of Little Deviants, I'm really enjoying it. I really don't understand the hate behind the game, other than it's INSANE trophy list, dear GOD I wish I looked at that first.. I mean I'm willing to work at it but man is it going to be rough.

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up :) Will definitely be checking them out.

Actually, why isnt that PC remote desktop play app buyable on PSM? Anyone know? Tinkering with Skyrim or Minecraft on my Vita in bed would be sweet.

Minecraft on Vita

well this is just a lazy excuse if it's what GB use for complete lack of Vita QLs

off screen is enough and can look good too, look at this dude video. (just ignore the fact that the game is butt ugly)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHz5vUn6Itw

And I doubt that they are lazy, I think it's just not worth it clicks-wise for them(same with the lack of PC and 3DS QLs)

No off screen including that video always looks like ass.

The wiiU pad screen/vita over the shoulder stuff they have done looked like shit too.

Just finished Uncharted GA. A huge grin on my face.

Last time i had that grin was 6 months ago when I got Skyward sword and then 1 year ago when I beat Uncharted 2

Best handheld game i have ever played

Ive had my Vita since launch day, but have yet to earn a single platinum trophy. I dont actively seek out trophies but am determined to earn the one in Resistance Burning Skies. Its achieveable for my efforts - damn it, im going to do it. so close.

Not gonna lie, it's probably one of the easiest tropies you'll ever get. I felt obligated to get it. The game being genuinely fun was a bonus though.

The game is pretty good.

Shame Nihilistic were slated so badly, as RBS and CodBlopsD are both excellent pprtable games. I dont really care if anyone agrees, but the games they released just needed some polish in areas - but with they're not bad/terrible/avoid games. People just expect too much from handheld games. Handheld, not console. Console like (quality in some ways), graphics, story, presentation, etc. - but Vita games are still handheld, while considering previous generations of handheld games - and being perfectly playable FPS games - they are quite fun.

Resistance was not a bad game. A few more month I think it could have been something special

My X button has become incredibly squeaky and loud. I am not thrilled by this. I assume this thing has a 1 year manufacturer warranty, but I really don't want to have to send it in and wait over a squeaky button.

Anyone know if there's something I can do about the squeaky button?

Any way to tweak the ball or spin i in midair for hotshots? Any gameplay tips/features that arent explained in whatever tutorial the game had (if any)? Cheers.

Hahahaha. No. Small maps that have spawn problems, aim acceleration issues, aim-bot AI. High damage rate even on normal difficulty.

CoD is trash.

This is where you lost me. That game is irredeemably terrible. I got the black ops bundle for Christmas.

Supplementary question: what about Chrono Cross?

Supplementary question: what about Chrono Cross?

I absolutely loved Chrono Cross and I played a bit of it a couple years ago and thought it held up quite well. I know many people are negative towards it because it's not the sequel to Chrono Trigger that they were hoping for but I thought it was amazing. I loved the main characters and story, the graphics were some of the best at the time, and the music is still some of my favorite in an RPG. There's loads to do and oodles of secrets and such. It's $10, right? I'd say that's well worth the risk of seeing if it's something you'll enjoy.

Only thing to really warn is that characters' dialogue is often written with accents so that can be awkward at times, though I got used to it pretty quickly. And one of the first characters you'll get is a talking dog-thing and it's the worst character in the game. You'll want to ditch it as soon as you get more new characters.

I'm curious as to your Breath of Fire IV question getting a reply because I've never played either of the PS1 Breath of Fire games and have always wondered if I should now or if they haven't aged well.

Someone posted this earlier: http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/PS+Vita/Everybody's+Golf/feature.asp?c=38225

Lots of tips including how to add spins and super spins to your shots. Take a look.

PSP, ds and 3ds all have video out provided to press. Vita does not.

I think I've known more people and outlets with home brew solutions than I've known with provided solutions. A few outlets might get provided such things, but I've not heard of it being common personally.

There has apparently been one user developed PS Mobile title released, Crash Planets, just last week.

Beyond that, the guy who made the program seems to have disappeared. He hasn't replied to the thread on the PSM message board in several months, and hasn't logged in in 2+. I also think he might run into problems buying a developer's license, since I think you can only buy them in certain countries, and according to his youtube profile, he doesn't live in one.

And that's assuming Sony would even approve something like that. It seem like it would be a no brainer, since it would be so useful, but also something very complex and probably not easy to test.

Supplementary question: what about Chrono Cross?

Chrono cross is a tough one to say if you would be compelled to use a faq. there are a couple spots I got stuck when I played through it 10 plus years ago but nothing to horrible... that being said though if you want to even think about getting all of the characters you will likely need a guide as the game has multiple paths for getting unique characters and if I recall right you will have to play through it a min of 3 times in order to get all of the characters.

Had no idea Crush for psp was $2.50 on psn, when my 32 gb vita card comes in I'm gonna put so many games on it :D

Played and downloaded jet set radio today and it's so amazing on the vita, ps+ is so great.

Has anybody tried the Justice League PSP game?

Does it play like X-Men Legends? Leveling up and unlocking more moves? How long is the game?

If I remember correctly yes, that is how it works.
Length wise it's probably what you would expect. I'm hesitant to say a number of hours because I'm not very good at estimating that kind of stuff. But it isn't annoyingly short if that's what you're worried about.

Thinking of buying sonic all star racing, but just read on IGN about the performance issues, so I'm not sure what to do. What does GAF have to say, is it worth it? Doesn't effect your enjoyment and when does the frame rate drops occur?

Dumb question: I keep forgetting to sync trophies before switching PSN accounts. Are they gone forever if I don't?

I'm not sure, but if you want to test, put in the card you didn't sync, open up a game with un-synced trophies, then open up the trophy app and see if syncing them adds to psn.

If yes, you're good.
If not, you're proper fucked. ;)

Still searching for a game to buy before my trip: what do you guys think of Ys Seven? Does R4 hold up?

The Ys games are supposed to be excellent -- I just received Ys I and II Chronicles for the Secret Santa -- it's on the short list to get played soon; it pretty nice and seems like it holds up well.
I think Seven should be the same quality?

It's an extremely fun game and I encourage you to go for it. Also, I never encountered any significant slow down or frame rate problems, but then again, I might not have been paying attention because of all the fun I was having :P

I didn't see any copies of it at Gamestop. Is it digital only or did they just not ship out many copies.

I have never liked kart games but bought it because it was on offer and I'm a sucker for SEGA nostalgia. Thus far I have seen 1 instance of slowdown, and I have played through half of a full tournament. To my surprise I love the game and haven't been able to put it down. For me the frame rate has been rock solid - I saw more slow down in the ten minutes I played the PS3 demo!

So, my new memory card came in the mail today, so I've decided to move my stuff to it asap.
Created backup of the 16GB card, took around 45 minutes.
Switched cards, selected restore, got some weird errors saying that the database is borked, restarted the Vita.
The database updated when I switched it on for the second time and I'm doing the restore now, but the first thing that happened when it was still on 1% was the clock going up to 120 minutes. It's on 38 minutes now and 20% done.
Is all of this normal (aside from the error part of course) during restoration or should I expect things to be broken when it ends?

The Vita memory cards are apparently extremely slow

When it takes 9.5 minutes to back up the 1.6GB WipEout 2048 to your PC, it's safe to say that we didn't go into these tests with much optimism."

there's a few stages where stretches of track will cause the framerate to dip. Mostly the Samba Amigo one sticks out. It's not bad at all. I'd say, 90 percent of the time, framerate holds at 30fps. Quite a feat honestly as it's native res I believe.

So yeah, DO NOT let that bother you, the game is fucking glorious and I honestly prefer playing it on the vita rather than the PS3.
