Are the platform physics for LBP Vita the same as the other games?

It still feels like LBP but they definitely tweaked it a bit. The game is a little faster as well.

Give the demo a shot. The levels in it are just tutorial stuff from what I hear, but it should give you a good feel for the controls.

Thanks. The Vita hasn't arrived yet but I'll give it a shot when it does.

Also is there a good comparison of how PSP games are displayed on the device?

I m wondering about this too and psx1 games? I tried 1 ds game on the 3ds and it felt a bit off playing with those black bars on the side.

PSP games take the full screen. As said before Vitas resolution is exactly 4x the PSPs.

PSX games you can choose from multiple options. You can stretch it if you want but perhaps the best way is the ''normal'' mode where it takes all the space vertically and leaves black bars horizontally. Games look great.

I mean like a good video or a series of pictures showing what PSP games look like on the Vita.

Smart that it scales so directly, DS games on the 3DS look... Eghhhh..

Going back to the previous page, I don't think JSRF was better than the original. It took out the tagging mechanic, which made the game feel interactive, and replaced it with "hold R." That took a lot of the fun out of the game for me.

The graffiti mechanic was horrendous in JSR making it like JSRF was the best decision ever.

I played the first LocoRoco YEARS ago. When it first came out. I remember liking it but I only had a PSP for a few months before selling it, and it was right around when the first LocoRoco came out. ANYWHO, I just started playing LocoRoco 2 (playing it on the Vita obviously) and GOSH IS IT AWESOME! I love it. Such a charming and fun platformer. It goes without saying a new game in the series on the Vita would be incredible.

The first JSR wasn't supposed to be like Tony Hawk or SSX, it was more about the platforming despite having "tricks" and wheels - otherwise it would be way too easy to be an arcade time-challenge game and it would lose all re-playability if people would even bother to finish it.

If that's not your thing that's fine and it's different in the sequel but the controls were very well suited to the game and only took a short while to get used to. JSRF was good for what it was as well.

Also about LBP - I'd say they improved it enough and is basically what LBP1 should have controlled like.

i really want to get Legend of Dragoon on my Vita, but I see that the only way is by buying it on my PS3 then transferring it to my Vita.
the only trouble is I'm on CFW on my PS3, if I just go on PSN for the amount of time it takes to buy and download Legend of Dragoon, do you think I will get banned, also if I do get banned does my PS3 get banned or does my profile get banned, would hate to lose my PS+ for my Vita ......\
I just wanna play Legend of Dragoon :(

Sonic Racing and Ogarhythm demos coming in US store on Tuesday. Hopefully this will convince you all on the fence about Sonic Racing to grab it.

Or maybe the Vita just doesn't have games they actually enjoy? It's great that some people love the Vita, but let's be honest, it's lacking games in very popular genres, like FPS and open world GTA style games (the 3D kind) and Western RPGs. The only two loot RPGs are a gameloft port and Silent Hill.

Good point, but almost all of those genres have been deficient on portable game systems over the last 5 years or so.

Vita does have a few first-person shooters, but none that are truly outstanding. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Killzone: Mercenary, though.

NFS:MW is pretty good (the only game I own), but that's about the only Vita game the interested me. And I have some pretty low standards, I have close to a 100 PSP games between PSN and UMD (and I write for a PSP website). But at this point in the PSP's life, it had a GTA, it had Star Wars Battlefront II (which a lot of people liked, it got 2 sequels), it had 2 NFS games and a Midnight Club, and it had a decent loot game. At this point I'd be very tempted to trade in my Vita for a tablet just to play Gameloft FPSes or Real Racing. Not that I want to, since I like buttons, but if the genres aren't really on the Vita, what good are they?

You make valid points, although I think the circumstances are different now.

Need for Speed games: It's true that PSP had two of them in its first 9 months on the market, but that was because EA dished out several "6 month late" ports at the PSP launch, then came out with the new versions a few months later. See also Tiger Woods PGA Tour and FIFA Soccer.

If EA had executed a similar strategy for the Vita (which they did for FIFA, for some reason), it would have entailed releasing a late port of NFS: The Run at Vita launch. I'm not sure that would have made much impact, as NFS: The Run wasn't very well received to begin with.

Grand Theft Auto games: Rockstar doesn't seem very interested in GTA on any portable devices anymore. They haven't created a new portable GTA since Chinatown Wars, and a new 3D perspective (behind the character view) portable GTA since Vice City Stories.

The most effort Rockstar could muster is to release the original GTA3 and Vice City on iOS/Android. While some people would welcome these games on the Vita, I can also imagine the "ports don't sell systems" people having a field day if this ever came to fruition.

Star Wars: Battlefront and Midnight Club: Dead series.

If you're using these games as comparisons for attracting big-name franchises, then I don't think Vita has disappointed here. The last 2½ months saw two of today's hottest franchises (Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed) get original entries on Vita. While some people might dispute the quality of these Vita games (I personally think AC3: Liberation is great, by the way), almost no one will dispute the series' popularity.

Take it with a grain of salt and only believe it when you see it.

Sony’s Jack Tretton: PS Vita Will Get Hulu Plus And Crackle Apps “Soon”

This was in June, around E3.

Yeah, it's amazing that they're still not here yet.

At this point, I believe it would be a good idea for Sony would be to introduce their own answer to Nintendo TVii, running on the Vita. The Vita app could act as a program guide, enabling you to search Netflix, Hulu Plus, Crackle, etc. for your favorite content, then stream them on either the PS3 or the Vita's own screen. The advantage here would be that the Vita could function independently of the PS3, so you could travel with it and still watch your desired video on the small screen.

Yeah, but the lack of an IR blaster on the Vita would prevent it from controlling your cable TV, which I would say is a pretty big part of TVii (connecting with your cable). Although, it does have the expansion port...

i played the demo on the 360 and was sold on it, just won't be getting it on the vita.
local split screen play for the win :P

edit: anyways finally got my 32gb card up and running... and realized I forgot to bring my photos over, oh well I am to lazy and they stuck around as backgrounds anyways lol.

I was annoyed by the fact that I copied everything persona 4 related to my PC that I could find and still had to put my old card in to upload my save to PS+ to have my persona save :/

burning my way through a bunch of demos so far, haven't found anything interesting yet though zen pinball looked nice.

That game is totally not worth a banning.

Wonder if you could buy it using the mediaGo software then transfer from PC with content manager?

That's true, although (as you point out) perhaps the unused expansion port could accommodate such an attachment.

In the absence of IR, I would say the user could still use the program guide functions, and manually (with another remote control) change the channel. It wouldn't be quite as elegant, but it would still come in handy.

I envision that in a few years, there might be multiple other solutions to this problem, such as network-ready cable boxes that could communicate with your Vita (or smartphone, tablet, laptop, etc.) through your home network. Or perhaps the PS4 could serve as a replacement for your cable box.

Sony should still establish the groundwork for an all-encompassing program guide up and running as soon as possible, though. They can at least work with what they have now, then as time progresses they can adjust for whatever new technologies come down the pike. At some point many companies (Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc.) will offer their own solutions, so it's best for Sony to prepare a solution now.

Really ! Hasn't it aged well, I remember loving it in the PS1 days .... and at the moment my favourite game is Alundra ..... anyway no game is worth a banning, so I guess no Legend of Dragoon, thanks for your info

Then you aren't on the fence ;)

I suppose that is true, though I will likely download the vita demo to see how it is. It's nice to see a well made kart racer this gen though in general. I had been wanting to play one but haven't found one on any platform I enjoyed enough to repeatedly play (including but not limited to Mario Kart Wii (just didn't feel right), Modnation (load times kill the fun), LBP racing (load times kill the fun) and the first sonic racer (didn't quite feel right)) I am hoping the full version is just as good as the demo was.

Yeah, it's definitely my favorite of this gen, although I do really like LBP Karting actually, and found things enjoyable about Mario Kart Wii, Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, and Modnation.

I found things to enjoy in most of them...
my big issue with modnation aside from the loading times was the fact that while I have on multiple occasions 100% Mario kart 64 and double dash, I couldn't get through the story on the easiest setting. I got stuck on a race that I had to win it and couldn't beat one of the people :/

with LBP karting it was hands down the load times. I only played the beta, so maybe the final version is a bit better but my friends who played both told me they were about the same, but while I can handle a 60 or so second load time for a level, I couldn't handle the 60 or so second load time back to the pod just to load up another 60 or so second load time for a level :/

I do find it odd though that sony didn't make a vita version of lbp karting, it would have been a nice release given modnation is rather lackluster on the vita.

Thanks for the heads-up. I still haven't decided whether I want Sonic Racing for PS3 or Vita yet, but hopefully the Vita demo turns out well. The Ogarhythm demo on the Japanese store really confused me...

I'm interested to see what the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter x Tekken prices are.

I already own Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

i'm just hoping for $10 on the MK game. I've been waiting on that price even since gamestop had it at that price but amazon has never matched it, best buy offers free shipping as well thus I can deal with getting it through them. I won't mind one bit if it goes down to $10 and on monday MK vita is announced as next weeks game lol. to me $10 is worth being able to just pop in a 3gb game the rare times I want to play it.

Strange little mix.

Interested I'm Silent Hill.

Down for fifa and maybe marvel v capcom. Is that friendly in single player for people who aren't good at fighting games?

Go to Playasia.com

I got my copies of Persona 4 and Ragnarok Odyssey from them. Both were cheaper than the games will cost when they're released in the UK and shipping is free.

Edit: Here's a link to Persona http://www.play-asia.com/Persona_4_Golden/paOS-13-71-1ab-49-en-70-4q5j.html and Virtue's Last Reward http://www.play-asia.com/Zero_Escape_Virtues_Last_Reward/paOS-13-71-1ac-49-en-70-4xi7.html

Hmm but both of those total at $90, and their PSN ver. is cheaper haha. If I can get both for $50 or lower, I'd bite.

personally of the games offered on the vita (assuming the vita version has the stylish style which I am 99% sure it does) the friendliest one for single player would be blazblu as it has a nice long story and stylish makes it really easy to combo enemies.

Beyond that a lot of people like to say the capcom fighters are easy to get into, personally I find them one of the hardest ones to pick up... but of course when I say I find KoF 13 easy to combo and do movies in but struggle to get any combos going in SSF4 it tends to hurt serious fighter fans heads so yeah....

of the ones on sale I would imagine MK would be pretty easy to do single player. Main reason I am picking it up on the vita is the extra challenge tower that is exclusive to the vita, thus there is something like 200 challenges for me to play through which should be well worth $10.

edit: for the record if the sale doesn't go live tonight you can feel free to make fun of me. It's not guaranteed to go live tonight just like up to 60% off doesn't mean any that any of those games will get more than a 5% discount. I figure they will mostly be in line with the Dynasty Warriors next discount they ran at around 30%. I could be wrong, that's part of the deal guessing game, but I wouldn't have super high hopes for a great deal. I just figured I would mention it in case it goes live after I go to bed and it has awesome deals for people interested in those games :P

i just hesitate to pick up MK because I have a EU psn account to I kinda of have it already and also I fear it'll show up on the US ps+ at some point

I can get that, to me if it goes to $10 then it's worth it as I prefer to have the game physically anyways, and not having 3GB dedicated to MK on my vita is worth $10 to me even if it does show up on PS+ as I figure it's one of those games I will play once a month or so.

Seriously the game that should have been discounted should be Shinobido 2 ;_; been wanting it so bad but the price never goes down LMFAO ;__;

Hmm do you live in Manchester or UK? My brother lives there and I sent him my EU copy of Shinobido 2 to trade it off. If he still hasn't maybe we can work something out?

Without easy touch modes etc the easiest one would be MK then Capcom games then BB

Just when you think predictions can't get any crazier.

It will be discovered that the vita can be used as a cheap alternative to guide smart missiles and the end result will be governments around the world start buying them up. Sony spends this whole year producing as many systems as possible (hiring outside help) and by the end of the year the vita will be sitting at double the lifetime numbers of the ps2, but doesn't receive a price cut due to demand and only has 20 exclusives rated 85 or higher on metacritic thus people still say it's too expensive and that it has no games.

on a different note my serious random prediction is that Atlus announces a megaten Nocturne port to the vita :P

Prediction: Some PS2/PS3 gen game is gonna have an awesome rerelease akin to P4G.

I see you are taking my prediction and just making it broader :P
