*sigh* foiled by gaf hype again. One day I will stop listening to this place about niche japanese games. Thank god I don't have a wii anymore or I probably would have bought Xenoblade too.

You would have hated Xenoblade :lol.

It's frustrating since Xeno does many things really good like the large world, excellent music, ok battle system.. but the game beneath that all is one of those really boring JRPGs with story that does nothing for the player to thirst for more.

I have high hopes I'll like Persona 4 way better than Xeno.

Have you ever liked a jrpg?

In previous generations yes, before I had ever played a wrpg. I don't mean that as a cheap shot that's actually what happened with my prior love of jrpgs.

I can't wait to get FF10 on Vita though. I really loved that game, and it actually had interaction in the side stuff! Blitzball was sneaky deep.

If by new levels in the EDF game they mean areas, then that seems like a good content boost.

If it's just seven more missions, then uh.... What the fuck guys, it's not like EDF missions are a tough thing to create. You just throw enemies in a giant sandbox! Why aren't there like a billion missions?

edit: FFX is pretty underrated. But I guess that "Your favorite FF is the one you played at 12-16" rule applies. An RPG with that much animation fidelity and voice work was pretty awesome. Hell, still awesome.

Try and get into it though dude.

The start is slow as hell, but it becomes really, really addictive.

I find FFX hardly underrated :lol. It has it's fair share of issues even while I love it and it's probably concidered the best FF after 7 and 6. I remember that Famitsu readers or something voted it the best game period.

Weird, reading GAF here you'd think it ties with FF13.

I got that idea from Gaf. I didn't think this place would hype up the social stuff as the best part of "one of the best rpgs ever" if there wasn't any interaction involved in it. So I guess the writing must be the thing that's impressing them and I already know that's a dead end since it's normal jrpg writing so far.

Yea, what i thought. Ive seen you post about other games in other threads and i dont mean this in a mean way but you have a real problem with building up what YOU think a game should be and then judging it negatively when it isnt what you wanted it to be. You state that very clearly above. no gaffer said social links were sim mini games but you assumed they should be. Why, i dont know, blitzball was one of the worst tedious parts in FFX, no one wants stupid minigames (well one).

My point is I really feel bad that you have a trend of doing this because you are sabotaging youre own enjoyment of games. You are not judging games by what the developer created but by some game you develop in your head that it is not. By doing this your expectations will rarely if ever be met and your disappoint in this will distract you from actually enjoying the good parts of a game.

For example you will not find one single glowing review for P4G proclaiming its sim like social link minigames. Why? Because there was none, you made that up. You will find many praises for its art, story. music and persona mechanic. All of which you didnt even comment on, only your disappointment in the lack of a made up gimmick you created in your head. And because of that you have barely scratched the surface of the game and have already wrote it off as you shouldnt have bought. At that point you will never give it a fair shake. You may just not like jrpgs, and thats fine, but to continually judge games on mechanics that were never present nor implied is silly and only harming your own enjoyment. If you cant break that habit for your own good then at least start looking at youtube clips of games and doing a bit more research before buying games.

just my two cents.

Whaaat. I have witnessed much FFX love over here. It's more about dissing FF7 in here. People are salty that it's widely concidered the best FF :3.

One good metric of FFX greatness is the sales of X-2. X-2 was something completely different and probably even a little off putting to some. Regardless X-2 sold really well compared to XIII-2 when you measure them with the sales of X and XIII. Lightning Returns will probably be reeeeally bad with sales when you look at other main FF titles.

There is no way I am playing FFX again unless they either;

a) Redo the English voice acting

or

b) Give us the option of the Japanese audio

My ears still bleed sometimes on winter mornings.

I didn't comment on that stuff because I don't care about it. I know by now that I am likely never going to like another jrpg again because of its story or writing because they've always had horrendous writing. And I don't prefer turn based comment where you find a weakness and spam the ability for the rest of the battle.

And I already stated in that comment you quoted that I didn't think people would hype that stuff up if there was 0 interaction involved. Is that my fault for not double checking? Yeah I suppose it is. So I just won't listen to anyone anymore :P

I have to join the Final Fantasy X love. It's my favorite FF yet but I haven't played FFVII or FFIX. Can't wait to see the HD upgrade on PS Vita.

Also, I don't like JRPG's that much at all but I'm considering Persona 4: Golden, as I liked the little bit of what I played of it on PS2 back in the days but I never came far, like just an hour in.

I never owned a PS2, but borrowed my neighbors to play this game. I got ~20 hours into it when he wanted it all back :(

I really hope it will release on vita....and yeah, Blitzball was awesome, especially for someone who loves sports/management as well.

FFX still has the best battle system out of any JRPG I have played. Man I really want to start playing IX on Vita since its been a good while since I played that. Should look great on Vita. I just have too much Vita backlog already :lol.

Alundra or Sound Shapes this month?
Alundra and join our lets play thread!

Its obviously just not your type of game but that speaks nothing to its quality if reviews and general impressions are anything to go by (I don't like JRPGs so I haven't played it nor do I have any desire.)

Fair enough, as it understandably isn't for everybody, and no one should take offense to that. Crisis could have been averted had you opted for P3P first.

But this one has trophies! That'll be enough to get me through it. I suffered through all of FF13 because it had trophies, I can do it with this game.

I need to stop playing Jetpack Joyride. This mindless mission grinding to unlock all of the items is ridiculous, and I still need a fuckton of cash.

Cross-posting from the cheap thread:

It's a terrible game.
Millions of people disagree.

I can't tell if you're serious. Are trophies that important to you?

I guess so. The mere 1 trophy gained is the only thing stopping me from deleting Persona 4 so early so that's a good thing I guess? Maybe I'll end up enjoying the game but I wouldn't know that for sure without trophies.

On a happier note I hope Dynasty Warriors gets here today. Usually it only takes Amazon a couple of days to get a game to me once it actually ships.

Great if you can find any stock. I have 3 large Sainsbury's near me that have let their Vita games stock dry up to the point they have one shelf dedicated with 3 or 4 games and the rest filled up with dummy memory card boxes.

It's becoming harder to find any decent Vita games selection in bricks and mortar stores around me.

it's odd reading this as I consider FFX in general more over rated than even ff6/7 (they deserve their praise). So many people gush all over the story and the game in general and hands down it's my least favorite non MMO FF game between ff 4-12 and yes that list includes ffx-2, as I like that game better than ffx (better gameplay, and heck to me the stories are about equal, I might have had more fun with ffx-2's story as it wasn't completely predictable at every step like ffx was, blitzball was far worse in ffx-2 though)

That being said though I still enjoyed ffx, and plan on buying the HD version at some point. It's one of those, to me it's a bad FF game but in general it isn't a bad game things. I am really hoping ff12 gets a new release though. Give me the international version of ff12 and I'd be giddy with excitement to play the best ps2 ff game again with tons of improvements and new content.

I stopped playing as soon as I couldn't figure out how to change the controls away from touch controls lol. If I figured that out (if such a thing exists) I might have kept playing past my two runs.

Gonna run to Best Buy later today, pick up SFxT for 25...

I need to get a little basic starter kit, and another memory card.

I wanna go 16 or 32 but I dont wanna spend booku bread right now... anyway I could buy an 8GB and sell it later... Or should I at least pony up for the 16?

Edit: Napalm_Frank was wiping the floor with me in PASBR last night! lol, I only won 1 game, I need a rematch!

Sweet Tooth needs a nerf.

it really depends on your needs.
If you plan on going physical and not getting anything off the PSN a 4gb will be fine
if you plan on going physical and getting a couple things off the PSN a 4gb might be ok depending on size but an 8gb would be better
If you plan on going physical but are also a PS+ member 4gb is doable but painful, 8gb likely isn't enough, 16gb would likely be fine
if you plan on going physical and buy a lot of stuff off the psn 16gb would likely be fine but 32gb wouldn't be a horrible idea.
if you plan on going digital and buying lots of stuff off the psn 32gb would likely be your only choice.

Seriously i tried P3 and it's pretty damn boring,no offence but i usually don't like RPGs either apart from the (Dark/Demon's) Souls series and Ys 7.

I can understand that... last jrpg I loved was ps2 and ps4. The rest is all forgettable to me... and no Persona 4 does nothing for me... jrpg with part high school simulator and quirky characters... not for me!

I have a family member that wants to buy a Vita. I pointed them to Amazon since they're quite reliable and will allow returns if you're not satisfied. The problem is when they go there to buy one, they're greeted with the following message regardless of Vita they attempt to buy:

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Anyone know Amazon's reason for pulling them?

If Game had gone under last year, Vita would've been dead in the UK. Supermarkets don't stock it, or if they do it's like you say - 1 copy each of Uncharted, LBP, FIFA, and CoD, and a memory card or two, usually at ridiculous prices.
