Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

I cant remember the last Vita release that did not also get a digital release on day one. Digital is the only way I purchase Vita games honestly, for a portable system it just makes too much sense not to have to carry around all those carts.

Really need bigger cards though......

Arn't all games available on PSN?

Game really is amazing. I really really enjoyed it and its been a while since i really got into a 2d game.

All Vita games must be released on PSN.
Lego Legends of Chima isn't available on the US PS Store even though the game came out alongside Muramasa.

Is Build N' Race Extreme still a thing?

Thinking of buying EDF 2017 is there still a online community for it?

I've been in the same boat for a looong time :(

I have a ton on my backlog now, but that always seems to be the case. I have been avoiding it for that reason, but I just may bite on it soon. Been looking to drop the hammer on that, and NFS as well....

In UK I have never seen a large community and when ever I have tried on and off since I completed it the first time I never see any games. Its a shame because the online games I did play when I first got it were so much fun.

Might be different in the US.

There's one where you have to play a match with someone on your friends list.

Heh, I forgot about that -- I'd help you out if I had room on my 32GB to install it again, but I definitely don't have 2gb+ free at the moment. Blame Escape Plan. :lol

Spelunky? Hell yes, I'm there day one, the game looks fantastic. Paging Agent White, paging Agent White.

Poster who gave up on Guacamelee -- you are missing out. The trick to that is to jump and hit shift at the same time, then double jump and hit shift before you land. It's a technique you'll need later, but if you're patient enough to learn it, you'll be rewarded and the game will be that much more enjoyable. Hell, I just did the tree tops in like 20 minutes the other day when originally it took me more like 90. Part of it is patience and part of it is timing and techniques like jump+shift at the same time.

i tried it with ICO once and thought it was unplayable. your experience may differ from mine, but it was enough of a let down to never try it again.
Damn. Well I will try it out and let everyone here know what I think. I fought the first two colossi on the PS3 and was overall impressed.

Ha! Tell me about it. I only have a 16GB.

Well, I just found something that might help with the EDF purchase. Best Buy is running a deal, a $20 PSN Card and 3 months of Plus for $27.99. I do believe I am giong to be getting down on this. I mean, 6 months of Plus and $40 in your psn wallet for about $59.90 after tax. It's not the best deal, 6 months of Plus as 18 is better than 3 months for the same price...I am about to bite on it. Link

I'd be happy to help, next time you see me online, which over the next few days might be slim pickins. But still, send me a pm or fr if you still need it and we can work it out.

Awesome! What's your PSN username? I'm not sure if we're friends or not.

Although I'm probably not going to pick up anything this month on the Vita, I'm looking forward to Luftrausers and Dragon's Crown in August. That should hold me over 'till Killzone Mercenary releases in September.

I have a 32gb and I'm regularly juggling games. Since I moved to all digital, it's been rough -- I'm definitely not picking up a 64gb though, not unless there's an amazing deal. It wouldn't be enough to have double the space -- I have so many things that got uninstalled for space reasons (Blazblue/MK9/etc. Hell, Blazblue+MK9 is over 6gb).

Remote play is currently very router/network dependent. I had a decent time screwing around with it (as I said earlier about running some of the SotC hard mode time attacks on it, and playing Tokyo Jungle), but I'm pretty network savvy and would like to think I have my internal network set up well. I'm also using a PS3 that's connected via eth cable and it's a Slim model, so if you have a phat PS3, that might also make a difference.

It's not the 15 months of plus for $40 that was available earlier this year, but that's a solid deal, especially if you were looking to fund your PS+ wallet. I'm tempted to order one since I have a $5 BB reward cert sitting here.

yes! i'm so there. i've been wanting spelunky on vita before it was even announced.

*hifive*
Lone Survivor and Stealth Inc depend heavily on demos + price for me, since I already own them on Steam.
Edit: actually Stealth Inc looks pretty awesome. I'd probably pay the regular price to support that dev and have that on Vita.
Edit 2: Anyone played Lone Survivor on PC? Can you explain to me what it plays like? It looks sort of like a 2D metroidvania RE/SH game, but I'd like to hear impressions/opinions from someone who's spent some time with the game.

Same as me and Dead Nation.
it just makes sense. portable spelunky <3

i'll be there for dragon's crown for sure.

i don't have either but i'm really interested in lone survivor. if we get ps+ discounts it'll make my decision easier. i just don't want anymore of that -wait a month to pay us- bs please.

Spelunky is very good, I'm going to rebuy it for sure. however Lone Survivor and Stealth Bastard are not that good.

now Shahid-chan need to talk to Cellar Door Games about Rogue Legacy.

You're fucking insane.

Anyway - doing my nut in Guacamelee on this section that seems to prevent me from using the uppercut during a jumping puzzle after a certain number of double jumps. So annoying - the Vita layout isn't exactly designed to grapple using triangle, then double jump, switch polarity to latch back on with triangle straight away. Especially on a hot, sweaty day.

Feel like I'm real late into the game but Unit 13 looks really good. Framerate is a bit dodgy at times, though.

You can only perform each of the special moves once per jump - latching to a wall doesn't reset the jump if memory serves, you have to touch down.

I have a slim PS3 but I bought it the day the slim model hit stores, so it's around 4 years old. I'm hooked into wifi but my internet is pretty decent for the United States. The XMB and the like tend to load kinda slow but I'm assuming that's due to the HDD speed, the 120 GB model hasn't been sold for a long time. I really should upgrade soon.

And as far as memory cards go, I wouldn't upgrade until I could get something huge. 128 GB or bust!

Nailed lvl 47 on Velocity Ultra on the train to work this morning. Just 48 and 49 to go before I have all 50 Perfects.

I suppose it's no longer bugged? Or will you be saying something like

"It might take him a moment for those last two levels to go down, but he'll do it. What do you mean no Platinum? There's nothing left on that plate but gristle and fat!"

Someone should tweet Shahid for Yatagarasu. Indie figthing game, Ex-SNK developers, GGPO.

I don't think any consoles are within their plans at the moment. As replied to me by GenkiPatton in the Yatagarasu IGG thread, when asking about Console release potential:

GenkiPatton said:
I'm afraid that the scope of this campaign only covers Windows and NesicaXLive. We have no plans for Mac / Linux / Vita / etc. versions at the moment, but we'll definitely have that discussion if we're able to exceed our stretch goals.

Seems like they need to get the current project out and available, before they consider anything else.

It's a shame too, as I'd LOVE to have a 2D fighter on Vita that I can't just play with a joystick already, on consoles I already have.

But this game is on 3DS and this kickstarter is for the Super version for PC and arcade?

Yeah, but the 3DS game is handeled by Nigoro, who apparently are being very slow at developing it. The GGPO / Extra Characters / Overall improvements (so far) won't be with that version of the game, either. (If that version is even still on the way... they're releasing Aban Hawkins and the 1001 spikes on Vita already, so maybe it'd be vita bound as well?)

If we want the super / sequel version to be released on Vita, it's probably something that'll be possible well after Feb 2014 (the PC/Arcade release time), is all I'm getting at.

nice. Might pick it up right now. The music has me interested. Is there a demo somewhere?

I dont know if there is a demo, I cant seem to find one. Its $10 on their site http://tinybarbarian.com/ its also on steam greenlight.

Think im going to see if Shahid will look into Teleglitch, and audiosurf, kind of sucks that it will take awhile to get them on Vita if it works out, but better late then never imo with many of these.

In allot of ways Indies are just spanking their more well funded counterparts imo.

I’ve got a few questions for my fellow Vitabros.

What are the best indie games currently on the Vita? I own Mutant Blob Attacks, Guacameele, Retro City Rampage, and Super Stardust. I played Velocity when it was a mini and I played Limbo when I owned a 360.

Is Soul Sacrifice a good single player game?

I’ve been playing Hotline Miami on the PS3 and was wondering is it possible to transfer my save to the Vita?

Thanks for the help!

Maybe you'd be interested in things like Knytt Underground and Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery, as well?

Also, don't sleep on PS Mobile. Games like Rymdkapsel, Passing Time, Cytus Lambda, and Mononoke Slashdown all have quality matching native Vita releases.

Is Soul Sacrifice a good single player game?

I think so, personally. It's got a nicer story than some other hunting games, the battles are all fun to play, even alone, and the AI can be good at times, which helps keep SP from feeling too terribly lonely.

It saves as a cross-save whenever possible, so yes. Though I'm not sure if you'd need PS+ for this feature, now that I think about it...

The option to upload save to Cloud happens automatically, but should also be available on the options screen.
