Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Yes you are. You even admit it here:

Regardless of what you feel a "game" is, it was clear what he meant when both he and sony said what they said. You took this and tried to make an argument about it over the specific definition of what a "console game" is. That is, by definition, arguing over semantics.

He could have been implying PC master race.

Eitherway it's not just kickstarter, don't forget about the upcoming unity 3d support. That will close the gap between the two even more.

I believe he's talking about AAA games. Vita delivers some on that. But mostly ports and not original experiences. Depends on what you're looking for, I guess.
I understand the frustration people have with the lack of AAA games but to deny that a TON of these smaller games are on par or better than AAA games is also extremely frustrating. They get played down so much because they don't have huge marketing campaigns and the flashiness of AAA studio games.

Edit: Anyway, I've been playing Cube World and I would LOVE that on my Vita. It would look stellar on it's screen, and with all the different methods of input the Vita has it would play really well.

Unfortunately, I hear it doesn't run well on lower end machines so a Vita version is probably wayyyy out of the question.

Regardless it was clear both he and Sony were talking about games like Uncharted GA, Resistance BS, Killzone Merc, etc. Ie, the big budget IP games. It's easy to argue this was a giant misstep on Sony's part to market this, but it's perfectly acceptable for him to be upset that he bought the system based on that only to see it go in the complete opposite route.

No offence to these people who don't play a portable console as a portable console but maybe buy it for what it is?

Personally i would much prefer to play games like terraria, HM, spelunky etc than stuff like declassified, or liberation.

The vita has a good mix of smaller great games and bigger good games at the moment, could it use some more of those bigger experiences? Sure.

But the idea that they aren't making any? Stupid and exaggerating. Look at killzone, tearaway, final fantasy.

The mix has been heavily lopsided this year towards the small games (phone games, indies etc.) and this is in direct contrast to what was initially promised by Sony and I know this coz I'm a launch owner myself.Nobody puts down this kinda cash (nearly $300 since a MC is required) for such small games.

But anyways I have a few Vita games which I'm anticipating myself like Kz,Rayman etc. I hope they turn out OK.

How do you mean the complete opposite? No other handheld system provides the experience you get with those console games.

Vita has and is getting great bigger budget platformers, sports, racing and fps titles and a lot of notable titles in other genres.
Japan has a whole bunch of monster hunter games too. It's missing RPGS but to slate the entire library for that is just wrong.

Not to mention the biggest AAA games which will be on PS4, will be only playable on a handheld through the Vita.

Third-party support is lacking at the moment, but that's at the moment and to say Sony is taking it in an opposite direction is just rubbish.

Referring to the PSP games here? Remote Play doesn't add to the native Vita library,it's just a 'neat' feature if anything.

Well I didn't say that. But then if you used it regularly, it's quite a huge feature.

Soul Sacrifice, PSO2, RO, GE2, Toukiden and probably 50 others in development.

By psp games I assume you meant also on PSP? Toukiden sure did significantly better on Vita, and surprisingly well too.

Oh you meant the hunting games,I thought you soecifically referred to the MH games.

I just can't get excited over indies on Vita, most of which have been on Steam sales/Humble Bundles at one time or another.

Fortunately there are still Dragon's Crown, Rayman, Ys, and FFX to look forward to.

What games are you talking about? And if they were only on PSP why would I refer to them? [late edit: Sorry just realised I didn't say clones!]

Did the term MH clone offend you? If so, my bad, I'm sure they're all very different, the games have respectable developers.

Ah, I dunno what's up with capcom though, so many great games they could be bringing over. Not least of which is bionic commando rearmed, I remembered they put effort into porting that to a lot of platforms too, a while back anyway.

Capcom is so deep in Nintendo ass you can barely see shoes sticking outside ;) At least other Japanise publishers tried (and most of them were rewarded with good sales)

Maybe for you, but personally I mostly use my Vita outside at home. If I want to play an indie game (and by and large, I don't), I could play them on my laptop. I can also play indie games on my tablet.

And in both cases, the same games are typically much, much cheaper.

I got a Vita so I could play console games outside. If Sony had billed the Vita as an indie machine, I never would have bough it. Instead, they sold it as "console gaming on the go", but haven't really backed it up. Their recent cancellation of Warriors Lair and the no-show of Bioshock means they have little intention of backing it up

Its hard for me not to be pissed off at sony. I feel like ive been duped. Im just waiting for the ps4 to come out just to see if sony will start paying more attention to the vita. In the west, its a freaking jokd. There is not one feam from scea that we know of working on a vita game. If i hadn't been pleased with my ps3 experience, i wouldn't have preordered a ps4. I hope to see some serious improvement at gamescon. Like you said, if sony had marketed it as an indie machine, i wouldn't have wasted my money on this. The money ive spent on the vita is almost enough to buy me 3 ps4s. I do like the system but the library completely ticks me off. They really need to fix it.

So that Toukiden game looks pretty darn ace. Any plans to bring it over to the West? I imagine it'll be out in the U.S. long before it ever makes it to Europe.

A lot of money for such little to play :P Were they all ultra collectors editions?

Nope, it was me being stupid. I've sold my vita and bought another one twice. This combined with the price of those ridiculous memory cards and some games. Like i said, i really like the system but the library is ticking me off. i do try and support devs who take the effort to make a vita game.

Sorry but I have no sympathy for you then,

Either the vita is actually what you want so you regret selling it or it isn't, so why buy it over and over?

Thankfully, i wasn't looking for sympathy. I don't care about the money, im just pissed of at the direction sony is taking with the best handheld ever made. If this system ends up like the dreamcast, it will be a big shame. Like i said, i like the vita a lot but the future looks grim at best.

I'd have faith. A lot of reasons to expect more not too long from now.

I wish we could just have one Vita thread where there was no bitching about the library.

But we can all dream.

Amen. Game systems should be so lucky if they had the semblance of this library after less than 1,5 years. And as for ports, can't complain if the ported version is often the best version, especially since ... Wait for it ... It's also portable.

Esoteric pwned me on Mahvel yesterday 23-2, I think. You should teach me how to block/escape that assist setup loop.

it was 20-2. you could tell my doom is pretty poo-poo but my wesker was doing all the work.

if you are talking about the mix-up in the in corner after I kill a character, it's all about the position of the point character in relation to yours and which direction you would block the assist. If wait a bit, the assist would hit front, then I teleport behind. If I teleport earlier, I'd be behind you and the assist will also hit behind you (cross-up).

you should learn some combo extensions for Nova and Sentinel. you can do MMH FLY MHS with nova after a launcher. sentinel also has fly, unfly air combos that would tack on damage. In the long run it saves you meter to get the kill and you have more to bank on.

you should use those doom missles to keep my character in block stun so you can get a good mixup with nova

I hope the DBZ port is good, could be fun:

Looks fun indeed, Does anybody know how many Sagas this game will cover? I'd really hate for it to be a Frieza only affair.... again..............

Im also really surprised Hotline Miami doesn't have a survival mode with endless waves. That would be a ton of fun, We'll see what pops up in #2

Man I wish we had a separate thread dedicating to bitching about the Vita's library among it's owners so it would stop shitting up every single fucking thread.

Do you have some good tutorial videos for it? The mission mode sucks for more advanced stuff.

Let's play again sometime.

i'll play anytime i'm on. i don't have youtube videos I can share at the moment but I learned the sentinel combos so I could help you with that.

the corner one is real good. combo to launcher, H, Fly, L,H, unfly, H on the way down, SM, Launcher, into combo

you can extend any air combo that is MMH, Fly, L, MMH, S

you can do that after the relaunch combo i posted earlier as well

im thinking about learning nova some more. maybe ill go into the lab with him tonight

were you having problems with party chat? i was going to give you some pointers but i couldn't hear ya

My wife was sleeping right beside me, so I turn off the mic. Thanks, gonna try those combos, but I have to master the BNB first, lol.

lol mine too

you were find with the MMHS into rocket punch -> super

cr.M (blocked) into FLY is really good to get into. if you are push blocked and rely on S as part of the block string you can get blown up.

Deff need a bigger memory card. The 4GB is not working out as well, but manage to work with it since November. Gonna hold out till the end of summer, hoping Sony will announce bigger memory card at one of the press events.

Looks like talks are starting to bring Odallus to the Vita.

I'd buy the heck out of a new old-school Castlevania.

I just can't get excited over indies on Vita, most of which have been on Steam sales/Humble Bundles at one time or another.

Some of them have added content, there is the portable aspect and a few (like Velocity Ultra, which is brilliant) are Sony exclusive.

A good game is a good game. I doubt a title like Killzone Mercenary is as good as Guacamelee or Hotline Miami to be honest.

don't hold your breath. Sony has been completely silent on the topic of Vita cards. I think there was some news expected at the JP Vita Heaven thing and then nothing ever happened. Still waiting on that announcement and that was ~5 months ago.

the last chance I (and many) had to get a 32GB card from the AT&T store for a "reasonable" price of $50 was a few months ago now, they sold out almost instantly and cancelled all the orders. I don't understand how the Vita does such reportedly high digital sales when the memory cards are so small and expensive. For example, I would like to buy Atelier Totori Plus but I don't have any room on my 8GB card, especially with PS+, so why am I going to spend $40 on a game just for these kind of weird memory management headaches.
