Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Pfft, who needs Corpse Party anyway? It's not like I'm bitter or anything since the games never got released on the Australian PSN or anything...

;_;

Quotin' myself for new page.

Nah. Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is PC-only (for now).

Edit: Since it's gonna be asked inevitably: Dead Patient is a sequel to the series in general, has a new location, plot, etc. Blood Drive is the same-universe sequel to Blood Covered (first PSP game) and Book of Shadows, which take place in Heavenly Host Elementary.

Blood Drive is still in development though, so we won't hear anything about localization for a while. Keeping my hopes up though, I need corpse party trophies!

Edit: takaoooo. Wish mobile had post preview.

Editing an edit: I'm coming up with a new way to choose the game of the month for the next thread. It should be nice and fair* and not biased at all.

Someone is inevitably gonna complain anyway.

Hey all,
I'm a brand new GAF member and wanted to say hello.
This thread is the reason I registered to the GAF, I've been an anonymous reader here for a couple of months.

I've owned my Vita since launch and I enjoy it very much.
Currently playing Total Recoil, great game for a small price.

Welcome!!

I wish they do a Vita version, so I can play it in my bed before sleeping, and then, have nightmares :D

If you buy a retail NA game, you can do anything with it except access DLC. You can play online if the game doesn't use an online pass.
Trophies aren't a problem. You'll only run into issues with multiplayer if it requires an online pass since as it would need to be redeemed through that specific region's PSN store.

Thanks for the replies. Now, I'll buy Ys: Memories of Celceta day one.

;_;

Just out of curiosity what made you decide to go with an Australian PSN account? When I jumped on the Vita bandwagon earlier in the year I couldn't see any reason not to make a US account.

And this is the reason we need to be able to run multiple region accounts on the same Vita without hassle. I feel like the platform is Region Free in the loosest sense of the word and this needs to be changed.

My account is from back when I first got a PS3, from a time when I was still oblivious to the wonderful world of importation and online shopping. Also known as the time when I was a mooching teenager.

I do have a US account (only got a few NISA PSP titles on it), but I already have a lot of digital titles associated with my AU account. Sure, account switching is an option, but it's about convenience.

I've been having a blast with Project Diva f. My first import game and also the only game I own a physical copy of.

If Sega ever localizes it for the Vita I might just buy it on PSN and keep this as a memento. Anyway, really fun game. One of the best I've owned on the Vita so far. Thanks to Cytus Lambda I guess for sparking my interest in music games.

Welcome to GAF!

What does everyone's near map look like around their house? Curious to see how concentrated the Vita population is around the world.

YOkKWHI.jpg

Also, does anyone know exactly how big the radius is that near uses to tally up total players? You can see that my map doesn't have anywhere near 32 players on it.

Any Canadian VitaGAF members? If you pre-order Killzone Merc from Amazon.ca, you can get Soul Sacrifice for $7.

$7 for SS? damn this is an amazing deal.

SS is pretty damn good (ugly looking game with PSone textures tho) but a fantastic story with great fast paced gameplay and deep combat system and with tons new ideas to the genres that really needed something new, adhoc and online add huge amount of hours of pure fun to the game (in average you'll easily get 100+ hours out of SS I'd say), Canadian Vita owners need to get this.

The DF analysis of the game said the same about the ground textures.....

From what i can gather near only shows you a limited amount. And depending on how close the furthest person in that amount is will determine how large the radius is shown.

Ive tried learning all i can about near - it really needs to ve more intuitive and offer mord features

Ugh, I just noticed my unintentional pun.

At one stage, the total amount of players on my map increased by roughly 10 every time I checked near. I ended up reaching a maximum of around 112 players which seemed impossible for my suburb.

Near is an interesting concept, but I agree that it needs more features. I'm just not sure what features I'd like to see.

No clue what I'd like to see from Near either. I'd like to see it transform into an activity log :P

Capcom hates us ;)

Seems like it, I doubted it at first.

Although it would be like admitting their new games suck, and there isn't much point of bringing them over.

Maybe wait for the next ones... :/ Still, those two early next year would be great, unless now is an option.

I know Marvelous AQL loves Vita so... Arc Rise Fantasia for Vita pls.

I don't think Vita can run DMC 4 in a playable state.

Well considering they ignored Vita when porting 3DS Resident in favour of Wii U version which sold 10k copies in Japan you can safely assume there won't be any serious Capcom games on Vita

Yeah good point, it may not run...I remember it was pretty well optimised though, perhaps with a few tweaks...

I would hope that's because they don't want to upset their 3DS deal...keeping it off other handhelds (speculation obviously).

I know you're speculating but even the new Duck Tales isn't confirmed for Vita is it?

Please, there was nothing biased at all about the Hatsune Miku pick for this month. :|

So, is Frozen Synpase on the Vita gonna look like this:

Or is it gonna look like this:
91

like this, there is already a screenshot floating around for the Vita version. they are completely overhauling the visuals for Tactics (The Vita game) so that the visuals are more in line with frozen endzone.

I'll post mine later but I think NEAR still shows people who have their privacy settings set to the max, meaning you can't see their PSN/location, but they still show up in the totals around you. They can still see publicly visible PSN accounts on NEAR though. At least I think that's how it works.

Also, I've been pretty absent lately 'cause I'm working on my own gaming news site haha, it's all about niche games but it tends to be a little Vita heavy - won't link it here tho cause thats bad IIRC.

if Tin Giant port DMC4 to Vita

in 10 fps

Those shadows look pretty super.

I'd take it at 75% less filter and no slap in the face :P

Great to hear, that first screenshot looked pretty worrying hah.

Do all Minis work on Vita? Or just some? I see many of them list Vita support in the store menu, but I also know there's some PSP and PS1 games that work but aren't necessarily listed as such.

Here is the first screenshot of Tactics on Vita:

we should be getting more info soon according to the devs, hopefully wd will get a release window, but seeing as they are completely reworking it, it is understandable that its taking longer for the Vita version.

I was playing Knights in the Nightmare...

What an amazingly weird game. It is a real time, bullet hell, tic-tac-toe, turn based, strategy rpg, all at the same time. It isn't a great game per se, but I think I am interested enough in the game to see it to the end.

Is there anyway to transfer PSP and PSone saves to another memory card? I currently have an 8GB that I feel like Im outgrowing and want to start some PSP and PSone games but dont want the saves to be stuck on the 8GB and I'd like to be able to transfer them to a 32GB card whenever I get that.

Yeah, I knew about that screeshot, that the reason I asked.
I wasn't sure if that shot actually represented the final look. Could've been just some cutscene shot or something.

Content Manager --> copy content saved data PSP/other -->copy to PC/PS3 -->get new card--> copy saves from PS3/PC to Vita

Looks awesome! thanks for posting. I assume you can move the camera so it'll be more of a bird's eye view, but nice. Not played the original but do know it gets a lot of praise.

Silent Hill is on sale for quite cheap. I normally don't like these type of games. What does GAF say?
Another option is Lego Batman 2 but i checked and found that they have cut the open world aspect of it. I did play it on 360 but never finished it.
If i don't buy either of them, i am thinking of picking any of the Atlus RPGs along with Tokyo Jungle Mobile.
Okay, so I just watched that Silent Hill sequel on Netflix streaming, I've never really played a Silent Hill game, and I'm thinking of picking up the Vita one that's on sale right now. Thoughts?

What is book of memories?

Q:Is it a survival horror?
A:NO
, from a survival horror it gets story, settings and monsters. It will not scare you(so it's just like all modern survival horror :P), but it's more "survival" than silent hill origins for sure(i dunno the others), infact in origins you could have dozens of tvs in your inventory(the most ridiculous thing ever in a genre that should be based on limitations!) while in book of memories you have a really limited inventory and weapons are breakable, and while at the beginning you find lots of items the more you advance the less the item you find and the more and stronger the enemies.

Q:is it a dungeon crawler?
A:NO
, it has rpg elements and randomly generated dungeons, but it's totally not a dungeon crawler. It doesn't have magic(only some special moves and abilities), it doesn't have loots(infact you have a very limited inventory) and with the patch if you die you need to retrieve all your inventory where you died(and not all!). This game is based on limitations, a dungeon crawler is heavy on loots, so no.

Q:then what is it?
A:
It's difficult to answer, it's an original and experimental game. It's a combination of survival horror and dungeon crawler but it's none of them, it will obviously disappoint who expects a survival horror or a dungeon crawler.

Q:other details?
A:

-It can be really hard if you play it mindlessly
-There are not many enemy types, but each one of them is completely different from the others, no reskins or similar enemies.
-the patch changed the gameplay heavily.
-graphics is bad in the rare close ups, but it's good in-game.
-the ost has two beautiful songs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcX6LsdsQKE

Q:should i get it?
A:
The game has its faults and had mixed review and a big hate campaign from silent hill fanboys(how stupid they are...), but there are even lots of people who enjoyed it.
In the end there's a very good chance that average gamer won't like it, but if you like original and hard games then this could be for you, 7.5$ is not that much.

On the left you can see how big a dungeon can be(i'm the red point on the right of the map), you can hide inventory and map.
2012_11_10_020453.jpg

Friendly reminder: Silent Hill Book of Memories is not a Silent Hill game. It's a generic dungeon crawler with a Silent Hill theme slapped on it.

Without random loot drops, it also fails as a dungeon crawler for me. :(

Book of Memories isn't a proper Silent Hill game. It's more of a mediocre action rpg with Silent Hill theme and monsters, so no, if you are wanting a proper Silent Hill game.

How can you consider a dungeon crawler what is clearly not a dungeon crawler? I will never understand how can a game based on limited resources can be considered a dungeon crawler, a genre heavy on loots and other things that go against the philosophy of this game.

Started Persona 4 finally. After having it since February, I put in 4 hours last night.

What a step up from P3P. Jesus I'm glad I dumped that game.

So it's a game that looks like survival horror combined with dungeon-crawling while removing some of the best elements of both genres? I'm going to pass, sorry.

It plays and looks like a dungeon crawler. I certainly respect their philosophy, but that's how the end product came out.

What is book of memories?

Thanks for championing the game. It's quite underrated. While it has its flaws (my only complaint is that the connecting hallways feel too safe) it's got a lot of depth to its mechanics and it's a Vita exclusive. Plus the devs supported it long after release with a major patch (was that separate from the DLC? I bought the game and the DLC at the same time).

Have you done multiplayer? I haven't tried it myself but I imagine it would be fun.
