Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

There will be a decent Vita presence there. People are overreacting to a facebook post...

Of course. People were also overhyping the presence the Vita will have when we KNOW it won't be as crazy as people would hope for. There's a new console coming out so it's obvious this would be a PS4 show more than a Vita show. As long as I get a few SCE game announcements and maybe some HDMI out method, I'm good.

What you're saying is.. 3D GTA or I'm selling my Vita.. right?

in my defense, my country got colonized by the British.

All the best ones did friend.

still sticking with my 1 new game 1 new bundle expectations then.

i wish we could gift on PSN. would love to have a contest to see who could guess accurately what will be presented for vita.

i'm not bothered by the facebook post and i am still looking forward to gamescom, but sony fully deserves any hatred/praise for their own pr. sony made this post and the previous one calling it a vita show. they are the ones in control of the hype.

Sony are launching a new console in 3 months, OF COURSE it's going to be their main focus. People who were expecting that "Vita show" quote to turn out true are completely out of touch.

With that said that doesn't automatically mean there won't be any Vita stuff. It's not a mutually exclusive situation.

i think it's in Sony's best interest to make sure the PS4 is as successful as it can possibly be. if they play their cards right and succeed, i think people will flock to the vita.

a win for sony is a win all around, no?

FACK! - is sony really saying Gamescom is going to be about the PS4 lineup?!

:(

b-b-b-b-ut vitaaaaa

Stop overreacting. Vita will have a presence and there will be Vita announcments. Obviously with the PS4 launch coming up they're going to take this opportunity to announce PS4 stuff, but it doesn't mean that's all there is. Sony already confirmed a while back that Gamescom will have a bunch of Vita announcements.

Just so I know what you mean. Did you think the E3 was decent (lots of showfloor presence but no real announcement)? Was the last Gamescom decent in your opinion?

No.

IMO the only solid vita showing was the NGP unveiling. Otherwise it's been pitiful.

I don't expect anything amazing at gamescom. There are a few ports I heard about months ago that are still unannounced so hopefully they haven't been canceled and they will be there. I haven't heard a peep about any new IPs or other big games though. That doesn't mean they don't exist... what I don't know could fill the atlantic ocean - but if there was something huge I would think there would be a whiff of it, somewhere.

The redesign is happening in 2014 as far as I know and I dont expect it to be talked about during gamescom (why would they? could hamper sales over the fall). I do expect a price drop. I also expect the 64gb card to get announced and each card to slide down one slot (with the 4gb being discontinued) so memory prices will be heading towards reasonable. The 64gb card, i was told at e3, depends on them getting rid of stock of older cards though (im guessing primarily the 4gb? It wasn't clarified) so that is a bit more up in the air.

If I had to guess I would bet it will be price drop, killzone, tearaway, hohokum, a few unannounced indies, a few unannounced ports, and hopefully maybe please internet jesus atleast a tease at another big first party game.

Vita had a great showing at Gamescom last year. Completely made up for the awful E3 showing last year. I'm hoping for something similar this year.

I think if Sony play their cards right and next year they do a PS4/Vita bundle at a reasonable price and really push remote play it could do wonders for the Vita.

Sometimes when I'm changing carts, I open up the wrong flap at the top of my Vita and wonder, "What on earth IS this mystery port for?". Nobody knows as of yet, right? Just wondering.

As for the Gamescom news - That was expected. At the very least Vita will be there to show off remote play. At the most I think it's likely that we'll hear more about that God of War HD collection that was mentioned at E3, more info about cross platform titles such as Stick It To The Man, Doki Doki Unoverse, and Hokokum, and of course things that are due for release soon, KZ:M, Tearaway, DC and Indie stuff.

Don't be silly. Beyond casual convention floor conversations between social media and HipHopGamer, the only place I trust more for announcements about executive level decisions at SCE is filler text in old Facebook competitions.

I would like to know this as well. Maybe it's for extra accessories they might release for it. Like something that adds secondary triggers for example...

]I try to make a point of buying physical if I expect I'll want to sell/trade in the future, otherwise I'll go digital.[/B] That said, my Vita games are probably a 90/10 split in terms of not being available at retail so it's not a consideration for most games.

Killzone and Tearaway I'll probably pick up physically. Then sell them when/if they get heavily discounted in the future (if I'll play them again) or appear on PS+.

I do this also. Plus imports and games that take up a significant amount of space I will consider a physical version.

Ideally I would love to have 100% digital but for some reason it's hard to release some of these games in Australia.

All sounds pretty good to me tbh - but then I'd be happy with just Football Manager to be a real version.

Yeah, PS4 remote play is the reason I bought a Vita. That, and I'm assuming any and all second screen gaming apps will be available for it as well.

ps4 remote play is gonna be a game changer. my vita right now is in like caterpie stage. everquest next on the sofa while the girl watches her real housewives on the telly? #gameover

If I loved FF:T, is Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together worth it on Vita? Not sure how much it is right now ($10, 15?). Playing through Persona 3 Portable right now, slowly grinding through JRPGs that I have missed out on over the years from PSP times.

Question:

We all know that any PS4 game that doesn't require the camera will be compatible with Vita remote play streaming.

But, what about at OS level? Will we be able to control functions of the OS via Vita as well, and this extends to app usage. For example, in Europe we still don't have Netflix on Vita... So would I be able to use remote stream Vita to access the PS4 version of Netflix? Or use the social functions that are at OS level on PS4. Is this information we know about, or has it just not been asked yet?

I would assume so. Would be nice to have this confirmed.

Just bought Guacamelee...

The list of Vita games I own thanks to plus and cross-buy promotions:

Guacamelee
PSAS:BR
Hotline Miami
Jak & Daxter
Gravity Rush
Wipeout 2048
Unit 13
Ninja Gaiden
Pinball Arcade
Sine Mora
Mortal Kombat
Tales From Space: About a Blob
Jet Set Radio

...and I don't even own a Vita. Gamescom can't come soon enough!

I'm putting a lot of hype on the shoulders of Vita/PS4 remote play, really hope it works out. The whole off screen play thing for PS4 games sounds really appealing to me. I've heard a lot of people say it's going to be near perfect and a great feature and a lot say just the opposite.
Greatness Awaits?

I don't think anyone has been hands on with it yet, so they'll just be working on assumptions (with a certain amount of speculation based on what little we do know). I'm not sure when we'll first get to see it in action - did they even commit to it being available on day one? I seem to recall it was a vague launch window commitment.

REALLY? If we managed to get a GTA game on the system (which would be a miracle anyway and a sign that the system is selling well) if it was 2D that would be it for the system? Talk about hyperbole

I think it would just show that Rockstar doesn't really take the Vita seriously. DS fans were begging for years for a GTA game and they got Chinatown wars and no one wanted it.
