Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

I love the idea behind PSM, it is just poorly implemented. When they gave it its own section on the store that was the worst thing they could have done. When a game like Life of Pixel comes out it needs to be on the main store front and listed in the new releases. I guarantee that alone would triple sales, and even that is understating the effect it could have.

I don't get how minis could be integrated in such a way but not PSM.

Because Minis are actually developed on PSP devkits. PSM is a separate platform to Vita. The PSM games don't have trophies (yet) and we all know that people would complain.

I wonder then if they will ever refresh the PSM platform by removing the android side of it, focus on Vita only, add trophies, integrate it better? Someone should reach out to Shane and Nick and see what the plan is. If do the aforementioned the PSM platform could be very successful I think.

It's a total disaster. There is not a single reason for any developer to choose PSM - it gets no visibility on the main PSN storefront, and seems to have less flexibility than even PSP Minis did.

Though I'm glad they dropped the whole PS1 classics component - it's confounding that I can play Crash Bandicoot on an Xperia Play but not on my Vita, so at least they might start working toward unifying that whole thing later on...

...lol, as if.

yup, and without even useful apps(seriosly where are the apps?) the damn service is a useless waste of bandwidth right now.

Sony should really just shut it down immediately,honestly..nothing of value will be lost.

the point was to have a connection between Vita and android phones, they failed..they can "refresh PSM" not now.

What Sony need to do is to kill it and have a real Vita apps(non games) section on the PS store.

So I'm playing GOWHD on vita.

It's pretty good, the l2/r2 doesn't work amazingly but other than that

Me too! Tbh though I actually prefer tapping R2 to open doors using the rear touchpad than I do using the dual shock triggers, it feels much quicker.

I would agree if they kept it in its current condition. However, I think it could be a great resource for bedroom develorers that want to put out potentially their first game on a PlayStation platform for that matter. Refocusing the platform to Vita only, integrating trophies, and put the games on the main store would make this a very viable platform.

Holy crap! Sacrificing really limits the character. When he sacrifices his eye, his vision gets limited. That fucking great, makes sacrices uses a lot more strategic.

A finally a holy "monster", Valkyrie doesn't looks like the other monsters.

This game is fantastic. I can't believe how much hyped I am by this game. It seems like they nailed everything.

Exactly, I'd have killed to have something like this on my first university years when I actually had the time to do something like this.

Finished Motorstorm RC earlier today, only have the multiplayer trophies left, anyone playing it?

That was... fast.
I played that game for over 70 hours easily and still havent played every single level.

I got Persona 4 Golden at the locally owned shop with no case or manual . I asked the guy after seeing the 3 Vita games he had behind the counter "you have any other Vita games by chance?" and he goes "Uhh yeah we got this thing here" and pulled out P4G from like a shoebox with GBA games haha.

I asked him what he wanted for it and he looked it up online and gave it to me for 20 bucks. Not bad considering I wasn't sure if I'd like it and 40 bucks was way more than I wanted to spend to give the game a chance.

Good buy. No manuals with physical games anyways but dont feel bad about no case. Its not leaving your Vita. Ever.

I just bought a Vita on ebay today! It's coming with a 32GB memory card, Uncharted and Ninja Gaiden. He's also leaving his PSN account on there, along with a bunch of games he's downloaded (god of war, final fantasy and others). Would there be any way to keep the games, but use my PSN account instead? If not, I'll probably just play some of the games to see if there would be any I'd want to get when I put my PSN account on there.

The Griffin video also shows the arm sacrifice.

Hmm. I did play it a lot but it didn't take too long. I just need to shave 21 seconds off my total time to get the under 40 mins trophy aside from multi, not really a trophy guy though so I might just move on.

Thanks again for the recommendation, definitely worth $5.

Tomorrow most likely P4G will say goodbye to me..and I doubt I'll ever see it again.

Sony not making an LE with a mini version of that book is weird.

anyway, SCEJ need a famous Japanese actor/actress/singer for this. (3DS Fantasy Life got Shida Mirai for the ads)

It would really be a missed opportunity if Sony doesn't make some physical version of that book.

I have randomly joined the Vita ranks. Ordered the PS+ Instant Game Collection Bundle. It will arrive tomorrow.

I had planned on re-subbing to PS+ in time to get the 3 free months. Been thinking about getting Vita for a while, almost got one when P4G released, but had to wait. New year stuff has died down and taxes are done, so this seemed like a good time to get it.

I also ordered a 32gb card from Newegg since it was only $81. Going to be buying P4G off PSN. I am excited. Re-downloading a couple PS1 games to prepare to transfer over to my Vita tomorrow as well.

Sweet, just got an email from Sony with a code for $10. They said it was just in case I didn't get the code via XMB (which I can't access anyway since I don't have a PS3).

Redeemed it now and probably going to use that plus the $8 I had in my wallet to pick up PSASBR. :)

huh? Sony is still going with that?and now via emails and not PSN inbox?

Leona Lewis better get one then.

I agree with your post, sony needs to figure out that not all of the VITA owners are tech savvy, not all of them are gonna notice... let alone click on the "mobile" tab.

Do remember that this is the same company that has a huge amount of PSP, and PSone software that can only be played on Vita with a $250 accessory.

Did people find out already what the criteria was? In my case:

PS+ since last November.
Spent...a lot on PSN. Don't own a single retail game.
Renewed my PS+ a few weeks ago (for a year).

Anyway, I bought Life of Pixel and it is a lot of fun. The transition between screens is jarring especially when most happen during a jump or there is an enemy on the other screen. However, everything has a pattern or set path so it isn't hard to take your time and plan. Really enjoy it though, and the music and sound effects are really well done. Well worth $1.99.

It's on the Vita store now.

Yes, that's what made me bring it up.
The fact that US can play now makes the fact that it's possible to do transfarring more important, especially to me. I started it on PS3 and wanted to buy it for PSP to play on Vita, but then people said it wasn't supported/wouldn't work. Between the $30 price tag and the fact that transfarring wouldn't work, I wanted nothing to do with it.

When it got put on Vita store and a price drop last week (or sometime recently) I mentioned this and Toma informed me there was a workaround. I asked him if he confirmed to let me know. For some reason tonight, I decided to search for it and found that video which shows the workaround, erm... working.

So yeah, I thought I'd share confirmation for anyone who was on the fence like I was.

PS3 wont help anyone who missed on Brave Story: New Traveler or want to play Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner on Vita..that just Sony being incompetent

it is a one-trick pony, instead of doing the same thing (but in different retro styles) it should've been a journey where the pixel go through different levels of clones of famous old games.

I know you guys don't like famitsus scoring but just pay attention to their descriptions
Soul Sacrifice Famitsu review: 10/9/9/9

-Over 300 types of magic with a deep crafting system.
-About 25 hours to complete story on single player, multiplayer content expands this to several hundred hours.
-Superb storytelling through the grimoire system and its journal entries.
-Story is quite moving and definitely worth the time to experience.
-Huge variation of spells makes for extremely deep tactical multiplayer experience.
-Team work and role assignment in multiplayer has immense potential.
-Dying and being sacrificed is still fun and does not affect rewards.
-Being able to continue fighting even when dead is extremely welcome feature.
-The dark fantasy theme is well portrayed and written, although it may be too dark for some people's taste.
-Difficulty level is very high, but the high speed action is extremely fun and rewarding to learn.
-Salvation and Sacrifice system adds surprisingly profound and meaningful choice to the game.
-It might be "another hunting game" but it is overflowing with originality.
-Single player is fun in its own right, but multiplayer is where the game really shines. The more the merrier!

Quick question that I would love someone to help me with that I couldn't easily figure out from the OP.

I don't own a Vita yet but plan to buy one this weekend. I will need to buy a memory card with it and I'm deciding between 16GB and 32GB.

The price difference between the two is essentially a game's cost. So what I want to know, can I use my PS3 as a storage device? i.e. Can I download PS Vita games, and also importantly, PSP games on my PS3 and then just pick and choose the ones I upload on to my Vita? And then easily delete and upload new games without removing the saves on the Vita?

EDIT - Also I saw the guide on PS3 regarding PSOne games? Does that mean I can't install and play the PSOne game on my PS3 and then transfer saves between them or use the save on the cloud?

EDIT2 - Also if I buy a game on my PS3, can I re-download it directly from my Vita if I want? i.e. is it based on my account or on my device?

Tomorrow most likely P4G will say goodbye to me..and I doubt I'll ever see it again.

Toto, you and co worker not happening. Even if you sacrifice P4G. Wait, I wonder if this unrequited love is what makes you so bitter and pessimistic about games. Its okay, let it out, hug it out.

You can use your PS3 and PC as storage for the games and swap them around, but bear in mind that Save files are a part of Digital games. To back up the save for digital games you'd need to use PSN+, otherwise you're stuck backing up the entire game.

Sort of.
You can use a PS3 or PC to back up stuff that's already installed on Vita.
Vita games have everything tied to the same install -- DLC, patches, etc. all hook to the game's installed bubble in the OS. Many people have deleted a bubble and had their save go "poof".
PSP and PSone games have separate saves, so you can delete those at will and leave the saves on the Vita. You can only back up save data for these to PC, but can back up the whole thing to PS3, I believe.

As for your edit, you can transfer saves, it's just a pain in the ass cause you have to use Content Manager every time.
The catch here is that when you download and install your game on PS3, you'll have to keep the install bubble for it to transfer to Vita. If you've deleted the install bubble, you have to redownload it and leave it in bubble form.

Yes on PS3 storage, can even use a computer for storage and transfer wirelessly all around.

The bad news. It is slooooooooow. Most saves delete when you delete game so safeest to backup game to device or utilize cloud saving with PS Plus.

I have no issue with using PSN+. My question is, will the PSOne game read from the same save on the PSN+ cloud save between both PS3 and PSVita?

Actually PSVita games won't be a problem as I'll be buying physical copies. So it's really just about managing PSP and PSOne games between PS3 and Vita.
