Vixen (DC Comics) Getting Own Animated Series in Flash/Arrow-Verse

Very cool. I've liked Vixen since the Justice League cartoon. Wish it was live action but I'll happily take a good animated series.

Here's the promo art, they seem to be using the DC direct to dvd/Young Justice style

Oh my, that's pretty damn exciting.

This just confirms the feeling that Young Justice was probably a little too ahead of its time.

Incidentally, assuming the Mystical Tantu Totem actually works, we're definitively opening the door to magic int he Arrow / Flash universe.

Additionally, if she's the main fantasy / magical female hero with our Batman and Superman analogs... does that make Vixen the Wonder Woman for this universe's Trinity?

If so, I'm completely on board because Vixen is a physical powerhouse (like Wonder Woman) without being arbitrarily powerful (like, say, Zantanna), her powers are different from The Flash, and she brings diversity.

I'm psyching myself up too much.

I hadn't thought about that too much.

Can we get Zatanna now, though? I need her in my life. She hasn't popped up on Constantine yet, and it makes me sad. Yeah, I know Constantine isn't Arrowverse, but still. I need some Backwards Magic love in my life.

Whilst DC are unable to match what Marvel have done in their cinematic universe, they are OWNING the TV space. Arrow and Flash have been awesome and it's good to see that universe being expanded. I can't wait to see how Supergirl turns out too :)

So its animated? Is vixen going to appear on arrow?

I sure hope so, they would have a killer line up of female chars, right now they have Talia, Huntress, Black Canary, Waller and now Vixen , DOPE. Supergirl incoming, hopefully Zatanna or Raven or Rocket from the Icon books. Artemis or Cheshire have to be coming, hopefully that also means Sportsmaster. DC really does have a ton of young heroes that could shine bright in these formats. This is awesome news compared to Marvel letting Loeb come in and gut their already fledgling animated division , EMH > Ult Spiderman, AA, Agents of Smash.

It's way to early and wrong to say "unable". That implies they've have tried and failed which isn't the case. Especially with a single film out and one that made a ton of money and was positively received by the majority of audience. There was a large disconnect between what the audience wanted and enjoyed (audience ratings after screens, etc) compared to critics (who loved Superman Returns for example while audiences really didn't) and some very vocal naysayers. They "have yet" is more accurate.

Gustin and Amell to voice Flash and Arrow?

Curious about this as well.

Damn, DC Animated AND on the Arrowverse?

SOLD.

This plus renewal confirmation for Flash and Arrow: great day for the DC TV universe!

Amell plays Green Arrow in other medium, I can't imagine he wouldn't here.

That's right. He did the voice for the Arrow DLC for Lego Batman 3. I think Injustice got a DLC skin but not sure if he did the voice for that.

Now I'm unto this as well.

And I don't even watch animated series or know who Vixen is for that matter. But it's CW and it's part of Arrow-verse!

Gustin and Amell to voice Flash and Arrow?

Well, I go to all of the DC Animated panels at NYCC, and from what I gathered... it probably wouldn't be too difficult for them to set up a sound studio in Vancouver to have them come in and record their stuff.

Would be easier than if it was live-action and had to coordinate a ton of real people/schedules/sets

Yes he voiced that too. Amell has made it very clear if Green Arrow needs a voice actor he's available.

Oh I'm not knocking the DC films - the Nolan Dark Knight trilogy is probably my best trilogy of all time and Man of Steel was awesome. But the trouble is, they didn't start thinking about a connected universe until way after Marvel nailed it down. I have faith that the new batman film will be good and I'm hopeful they will pull off a connected universe but really, this should have started with the Nolan trilogy.

Before MOS released I had hopes/fantasies of a clip in MOS showing what really happened at the end of DKR -
Superman flying into Gotham and rescuing Batman - cheesy I know - but I was so desperate for them to be connected.

In a nutshell, Dark Knight trilogy should have been the start of teh DC cinematic universe, whether Nolan/Bale stayed or not.

Nolanverse would have been a terrible fit for a shared DCCU. Not that I think MoS is a great one by any means, but at least there's already some blatantly fantastic elements there to work with.

Would've been nice if they made an Justice League animated series based in the Arrow universe instead. They could definitely use this opportunity to do things that the CW live action series will never have the budget to do. So you'll have something like Arrow, Flash, Black Canary, Arsenal, Atom, Firestorm, and Vixen in the initial roster.

If Vixen was ever in a situation where she was shot out of an airlock into space, escaping a submarine at the bottom of a volcanic ocean trench, or exposed to the radiation from a nuclear bomb, she could use the power of the waterbear to survive it all. So OP but totally fair, I love it.

So they'll have to cast a live action actor too right? I imagine she will mostly be an animated character but if its in the arrow-verse, then I imagine its a 2-way street.

IDK his job on the Injustice skin is awful. Sounds like he's phoning it in. It was probably a direction issue though.

He doesn't play video games and did the job pretty much on a whim. I'm sure he'll get better at VA work, I don't think he purposely did a lazy job. He really does love the character.

Already doing a digital Justice League animated series though

Even if mini-series.

I think the big thing here is that if Arrow/Flash/whatever ever gets cancelled or reaches the end of it's run it shows that DC is all for continuing the universe in animation. Imagine when Ray leaves the show he gets an animated show spot. Or a fucking Suicide Squad animated show.
Fuck I want all of these now.

Vixen isn't on the same power level as Wonder woman. Nowhere near. And I think supervise would fill that third slot.

Her and Animal Man have some of the most fun and interesting powers in DC

And bwana beast.

If the first DC TV Justice League is Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Vixen I will be beyond impressed and just might go catatonic.

Weird. What? Never heard of Vixen.

You missed a fourth of the episodes of Justice League Unlimited?
