After that, his diet probably stayed the same. 2000 calorie intake is for a medium amout of activity. When's he's lying in bed he can't possibly use more than a quarter of those 4000 calories. Let's say 3000 calories at 80% a day that don't get used = 2,400 calories that turn into fat per day. That's a little less than a lb a day. three years and that's 1,000 lbs of fat. I'm sure he cut down on some of that when he couldn't waddle out of bed, so 6 yrs in bed would do that to you.
