The early bird really does get the worm

As a youth, i used to wonder why my dad always went to bed at like 8pm and woke up at before 5am

In my 30s, this is a habit I've adopter

Mornings are so quiet and you get it to yourself. It's like staying up all night without the social stigma

It's 630 am on a Sunday and I'm grocery shopping. Practically nobody here. Checkout will be a breeze

Have a happy Sunday everyone, get some good coffee

My girlfriend is well aware that my favourite time every week is Saturday / Sunday mornings when I wake up 3+ hours before her and quietly play games while the cat hangs out with me. Love it.

i love mornings. been gettin up way too early since i was a kid, and i loved it back then for basically the same reasons i do now: its peaceful, quiet, i get to do my own thing for a couple hours before the world wakes up, i get to enjoy my coffee sometimes with a book (i need to get back to doing this, its my fav time to read), maybe wake and bake and some games if its a day off. its my favorite time of day.

i used to think other people were just being lazy, but i truly believe some people just drag ass and feel like death in the morning, and therefore physically just suck at being morning people (not impossible tho). but either way im glad im not like that. mornings are the best

I go to bed around 12 and wake up at 5.30, get ready for work from 7 am to 6 pm.

Hit the gym after work and then do it all again.

Love the early mornings when all you can hear is the birds chirping and the air is still and fresh.

Sounds like heaven! I must be living in the last place on earth with closed shops on Sunday, let alone from 6:30 on. I envy you guys.

Me too! I thought it's just people behaving like big babies but I read that it's a true thing and some people really do feel like shit in the morning. Luckily I don't unless I sleep too long.

Happy Sunday everyone!

i love it. i get up at 3AM for work. walking to work at that time in the morning is so good. quiet and relaxing. in my old job i started at 4:30AM. at this point i'd hate to have to go to work at 8-9AM. fuck that.

even if i'm off work i still get up early. sometimes i'm up from midnight/1AM. one of my favourite things is to go for a long drive in the early mornings. put some music on or just listen to the radio and then drive with no aim or destination.

i have a 24/7 store near me so sometimes i'll be like fuck it i'm going to do my shopping at 1AM.

early mornings are the absolute best.

Yup. On work days, I'm in bed by 5:30 pm. Usually up by 2 am (unfortunately, sometimes earlier 'cause I can't sleep). Have my joe whilst catching up on GAF threads, playing my Words With Friends on FB (yeah, I'm old -- get over it). My wife is still asleep :messenger_relieved: . It's enough time to chill for a bit before being at work by 4 am.

I adopted 2 pups so my sleeping schedule went from 10-5a to 11-1a, 1:30-4a, 4:30-6a, then waking up to start my day and feed my big dogs. I miss my old schedule 😅

I'm an early riser too. I love it. So quiet and my favorite part of the day is just enjoying a cup of coffee while I read GAF, Apple News, check Reddit, or play games.

The big game changer for me was starting to lay down at an earlier time so I can wake up without an alarm clock.

I had a former boss mention getting up at 5 AM is a lifestyle. There’s even a book about it. You get up at 5 every day and you get everything you want done before your day begins. I personally don’t mind waking up early if I have something to do. I’m always up early with the kids, so I’ve gotten use to it. When I install equipment or I need to clean up a server room I wake up early. I do like the drive when it’s still dark out. I’ve been shocked to find runners and people out and about at 5-6 AM. I’m also a night person, but being a parent has also made me enjoy waking up early.

I agree. I’m up super early on my days off. Get the bullshit out of the way so I can relax without feeling like a bum. If I got nothing planned for the day I’ll smoke a nice joint while walk the dog. Work out, vacuum etc.

Sorry...I'm more of nightcrawler than early bird. Aways had problem with early morning feeling. Note that I don't have problems waking up early at all.

Man 5:30 pm seems super early to go to bed if you gotta be at work at 4:00. As long as the wife dont mind I guess. Or maybe that’s the point…..

Well, figure if you're in bed by 5:30, you're likely asleep by 6 pm. At 2 am is eight hours. I set my alarm for 2:20 am, but I'm usually up before that. So, if I'm, on average, up by 2 am, that's eight hours sleep, make coffee, chill in front my computer until 2:45 then get dressed, prepare my lunch and things for the morning to take with me to work. I leave the house at 3:25 to get to work a few minutes early. I don't really have more than about 45 minutes to loaf after getting up. It's pretty much right on the money to hit it at 5:30 pm.

Pro move is staying up late and waking up early. I'm fortunate to be someone that doesn't need a lot of sleep. Give me about five hours and I'm good. No problems waking up.

Man I simply can’t imagine waking up at 2 something am everyday.

When my son was born my wife and I did shifts during the first few weeks. I was going to sleep at 7 pm and waking up at 2 am or so. Even though I got the same amount of sleep that I normally do, I was dead tired because it was 2 am!

I remember those days. ;)

Eh, like TC alluded to, it's just nice and peaceful that time of day, and as for working that early, you're done before the crowds roll in and the town starts to rock. You're home relaxing while most everyone else is just going to lunch. :D

Yeah but then you're dead tired at 5 p.m. when everyone else is just starting to relax and unwind. Plus, how do you have a social life on weekends when people are just meeting up for dinner/events in the evening and you're ready to go to bed?

I dunno...I think a 2 a.m. wakeup is highly unnatural, but if it works for you, keep it up!

Social life? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Holy shit! No thanks, man. I had plenty of that in my younger years. This online thing is plenty. I can talk to family and friends through text or FB, get together for lunch every few months (which is more than I'd prefer). Most of my energy goes into my work, and I kinda like that I guess. Not sure if it's a matter of getting older, but the routine definitely feels comfortable for me.

Allegedly it's awesome, apparently the best athletes in the world swear by waking up early. Millions of people wake up early for work. I believe waking up early is important for completing goals. Everyone is negative about waking up early, just go to bed early, the issue with waking up early is going to bed early.

I prefer working mornings but alas most times these days, I'm working UNTIL the morning so I'm kind of on the opposite spectrum of this atm. It is an awesome feeling, accomplishing your tasks before half the rest of your city is even awake, though.

Yeah, I’ve definitely grown to appreciate an early bed time and early rise. As long as I’m feeling well-rested, I like waking up early to get shit done.

Lately, I’ve been waking up around 6am on Saturday and getting to the grocery store by 7. The best. Like you say, no one’s there, you’re in and out no sweat.

This past Friday, though, i stayed up late with a new toy and didn’t got to bed til 1am. Woke up at 9 and didn’t get to the store til 10. The place was mobbed. Took forever to get my shit and get checked out. Never again.

Man, this hits home.

There was a period when I got into the habit of getting up early, and it was probably some of my most productive years. I would get up at 4:00 am, play games for 4 hours, and then the rest of the day I basically worked my ass off, and then I'd fall asleep at 8 pm.

There was something about starting the day doing something I loved that made the rest of my day happier. Now I'm in that rut of staying up late and I always hate how little I accomplish.

All I remember about early risers is walking home drunk from a party at 6am on a Sunday morning, with them running towards me, looking all fucking healthy and jacked and shit.

Yeah... well my mouth tastes like an ashtray and I got a blow job in the downstairs toilet from the hot barista chick, so who's really living their best life eh, tracksuit boy?

If you have small kids early morning are literally the only time you don't have distractions and are at the same time mentally refreshed for some intellectual work. No other time of the day or week is like that.

What kind of fucking supermarket/grocery shop opens at 6:30 am on a Sunday ?!?

Jesus wept… what the fuck?!?
I sometimes like to get an early night if I can. But for work etc I finish late so no chance of bedtime before at least midnight. But I also start late so it balances it out.

I like both late nights and early mornings (preferably not back to back).

That said, in my old age...I'm starting to feel the early mornings getting more frequent and earlier.

Most if my life I’ve had to wake up early for school or work, but eventually I came to learn that if I wake before 8am, I’m very sluggish and it’s hard to get passed the 12-2 hump

During my drinking days I'd pass out in a black hole of sleep and be lucky to get up to go to work at 4pm.
As an old fart in sobriety, I get 6 hours a night tops, usually closer to 5. It kinda sucks, but I go from dead asleep to wide awake in the span of two seconds. I enjoy the quiet and solitude of the early morning though, especially on my days off.
