Wanna sell your color faded SNES? Try eBay... it's "RARE"

:lol

Anyone know why the console fades though? I remember a thread about this was made and a lot of people have faded SNES's, including me

How the hell did it get THAT color though? I mean, mine has a light brown-ish tint to it, but it's hardly full-on yellow.

Most of the plastic stuff I bought around '91 that's been hit by the sun constantly has turned yellow. Dunno why.

COOOL! I own the gold version too.. But it wasn’t gold when I bought it, I guess Santa or someone exchanged mine while I was asleep, thanks santa. :)

I wonder what a “gold” monitor can be worth?

I don't remember the reason (though we've heard it before), but basement-dwelling systems suffer too.

Must have been cleaned with Mexican tap water. Drank the water there once by accident, in a margarita no less and the results were a ruined last 2 days of vacation.

the coloring is stupid, but if they actually sell it for $5, it might be worth it (as long as the system is still working)

Maybe I took this too far, but I couldn't resist emailing the guy, here is his response:

Dear ------,

You asked:
"Ok, so basically you're lying, this is just a color faded SNES, no one is stupid enough to believe you. Don't lie about this "Rare" find. Why don't you say it was owned by like Donald Trump or something, then it would sell!"

It's not faded, you can believe what you want, but it is really gold. And, just the fact that you don't know that proves that it is rare. I didn't start collecting old platform games until about six months ago and I purchased this in a bulk auction. THE FACT THAT IT IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN PROVES TO ME THAT IT IS RARE.

The bottom half of my SNES turned that yellow color, while the top half stayed the normal gray. However, my friends SNES ended up exactly like the one in that ebay auction. So yes, this does happen to some SNES systems.

Neither of us smoke, and we always keep our stuff clean.

Surely the dummy act is a put-on. Right?
