Want a free iPod or flat screen monitor?

By now I'm sure everyone has heard of freeflatscreens.com and freeipods.com. You sign up, complete one of their offers, then get 5 of your friends to sign up and complete offers. Then you get a free flat screen monitor or iPod.

The last time someone tried to post a thread about the free iPod offer, it was closed, and I don't understand why. I checked the terms of service and see nothing about anything like this.

These sites are confirmed to be real!

And there are dozens more.

This isn't a scam or a pyramid scheme, and there's nothing against it in the TOS. Why can't we set up a thread to help each other out so we can all get free iPods and flat screens?

THE LATEST NEWS

OK, here is the latest on what's going on. The underlined name is who we're currently getting referrals for (me, in this case). Getting through one person every day or two would be an excellent pace, so let's aim for that if we can.

If there is anyone who doesn't particularly want an iPod or flatscreen that is kind enough to sign up for these offers just to help out, please PM me for the referral links. You would just have to spend a few minutes signing up for an account, creating an ebay account, and bidding on something. If you have a few minutes to spare, it would really help out.

Also, the iPod list is clearly longer than the flatscreen list. If you only want to do the iPod offer, when I send you the links, please consider also just signing up for the flatscreen too to help those who want a flatscreen out. I have been sending everyone both links, so you have both links if you choose to do this.

+ IMPORTANT: Remember that this conga line thing takes time; it's going to be days or weeks, not hours, before we get through everyone. Please be patient.

+ IMPORTANT: Please do not PM me with questions or comments about this; post them in this thread. With the three-minute time limit on PMs, sending out links is going slow enough. Not to mention the inbox only holds 50 messages. I can't afford to waste time or space answering questions.

+ IMPORTANT: DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A FREEIPODS.COM OR FREEFLATSCREENS.COM ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU ARE SENT A LINK FROM WHOEVER'S NAME IS UNDERLINED IN MY LATEST POST. I WILL MAKE SURE IT IS CLEARLY STATED WHO WE ARE GETTING REFERRALS FOR AT THE TIME.

TO SPEED THINGS UP

After I update the list and a person is listed as "JOINED," they can then send their own referral link (found when they log into their account) to friends and family to get more referrals and speed things up. As of right now, those people are:

- Boogie9IGN
- Archaix
- Mr Pockets
- B'z-chan
- Bort
- btrboyev
- Killthee

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AN ACCOUNT AND START SENDING IT TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. This defeats the purpose of the conga line. Only after you have signed up with a referral I have sent you and I have listed you as "JOINED" can you send out your link to friends and family, BUT NOT TO GAF CONGA MEMBERS.

HOW THIS SYSTEM WORKS

I'll give you an example of how this works by using names on this list. I (Mason) need 5 referrals for the iPod. So I sent my referral link to 5 people, including Archaix, who clicked on it and signed up for an account on freeipods.com. When he signed up, it gave him several choices of offers he wanted to participate in, because in order to get an ipod, you have to complete one offer and get 5 referrals.

I believe he chose the ebay offer, which is what most people choose because it does not require a credit card. If you choose the ebay option, it takes you to ebay where you must sign up for a new account. If you don't want to use a credit card, it will ask for an email address that is NOT from a free account (like Hotmail or Yahoo) in place of a credit card. After you get your new ebay account, you have to go find an item and bid on it and become the high bidder. Nobody is exactly sure how long you have to be the high bidder for, but we do know that you cannot place a bid and instantly be outbid by another person's proxy. You have to hold the high bid for at least a few minutes if not an hour or two.

So, for example, you could find a PS2 that was just listed and is at $1. Bid $15 and you'll hold the high bid for a while until someone comes along and bids higher (because a PS2 obviously isn't going to go for $15. After 1-3 days, you'll get credit for doing this ebay offer in your account at freeipods.com.

At that point, in my (Mason's) account, it will say that that Archaix has completed an offer. After four more people complete an offer, I will have five referrals. Since I already completed an offer because I signed up using someone else's referral link, I will then be able to choose the iPod I want and have it shipped to me.

Then, since B'z-chan is next on the list of people who signed up, I will make a post saying that I have the referrals I need and B'z-chan will send his referral link to the next five people who said they wanted to participate in this thread so he can get the referrals he needs. After he gets his referrals, Archaix will go and so on and so forth. And it continues down until we either run out of people or everyone has an iPod/flat screen. I realize that with every person, this gets harder 5-fold, but people are still signing up, and don't forget that you can get your family and friends to sign up, too!

Do you even know what a pyramid scheme is? THIS IS THE DEFINITION.

My penis is still intact.
If we worked out a system and somehow managed to stick to it, this sort of thing would work out great for us.

I say us, but I of course don't include me. I hate not living in the US sometimes.

Hasn't this thread already been done?

Also, the truth is while the first few people willl get their free shit, the people that sign on later will be sure to miss out.

I think the easiest way would be for example: I would put my referral link up, then after I see I've gotten 5 referrals who did their end of the bargain, I'll take my link down and the next person who posted in the thread puts theirs up.

this would no doubt be awesome and yeah this kind of deal happened with free games and consoles back in the game forum last year and it wasn't locked and it worked out.

But this will be locked...

If we set up a good and fair system we can make sure it would work out for a lot of people.

Referral links are against the TOS

I made the freevideogames thread and it stayed referral link free so it satyed open

That's the thing; I don't see why this should be locked. It's legit and they require you tell your friends. This just makes it much, much easier.

its not really a loophole..besides they let it slide by last fall..at least be consistent.

a workable system could be having only say 5-10 people do it at a time then when they are done 5-10 others can start.

Any users that post outside advertisements or solicitations will be subject to banning.

There you go, And the other thread was locked because everyone was posting their referral links. I doubt the mods care what goes on in pm's

At first, I didn't trust that free video games thread enough to go into it myself. Then when it got a few thousand posts long, I got too lazy to read it.

What was the general idea? Something like the sites proposed here? And I presume it worked out for the participants?

hmmm..I don't think this qualifies as spam, but whatever...it won't happen.

yeah it worked out for a lot of people here

It's part of the same network as these free ipods, so same basic idea

Yeah freevideogames.com worked this way.

You signed up for "offers" such as Columbia House, AOL free trials, and so on. THen the site gets the ad revenue. Since the site had no content like say gaming age they gave you some of that ad revenue as points. You ordered your stuff and you got "free" games.

I was unemployed at the time so I got a bunch of stuff for very little cash input from myself

Xbox and 6 games
a few gamecube games.
500 dollars from a simillar site that gave cash
like 15 dvds.

It was fun

So how about this? People post a message in this thread saying they're interested in participating. To start, I will PM five of them my referral link and they use it to sign up and complete an offer. Once my account lists that those five people have signed up and completed their offers, I will post who the first person to PM me was and also the other four (so that we establish the order of who is next). Then the first person to PM me will PM five new people with his link so they can sign up and complete their offers. After he gets his confirmation, he posts who signed up under his link (so we can get to them later) and we move to the next person that PMed me and so on. After a person gets the referrals they need, just edit your post so their name is bold or whatever.

Would that be ok since there is no "SPAM" (and I use that term loosely since this isn't spam anyway) in the thread?

Count me i'm in too for this. I already have ideas that would be very easy to use. Ebay anyone ;) muhahahaha it was fun while it last thought i know i wont get one but i'll at least try.

Couldn't we set up a phony ebay auction that we'd all bid on, then the "winner" would have his money paypal'd back to him by the auction starter?

Any of you freevideogames thread particpaters who want to do this and get some insight into how to effectively do this pm me

Thats a lame way to do it. there are much easier ways

That's way more complicated than it needs to be. Just find a recently-started auction that you know will go much higher and a decent amount on it (but not so much that you'll win). That way you'll be the high bidder for a while so you'll get your credit, then you'll be outbid and won't have to pay anything. Just to be sure, bid on something you wouldn't mind having at a low price anyway so if, in some bizarre twist, you actually win, you get a good deal on something you want.

I'd be in in this too if its not locked.

and that ebay idea is just crazy enough to work..of course whoever sets up the auction might not be eligibale to enter unless they use a different name and address.

I'm more interested in the flat-screen monitor than the iPod, personally. Should we make it so you have to sign up for both? I mean, unless everyone really doesn't want a FREE flat screen monitor or Sony Wega TV. :D

yes kill two birds with one stone man thats how it should be.

I want to participate

I'd prefer the flat screen one, too. I mean, I wouldn't reject being in the ipod thing, but I'd give priority to the TV.

Just a warning be careful of doing both sites and having your goods sent to the same address, you may get your account put on hold and get nothing. read the terms

Ok, if you're interested in doing this (both freeflatscreens.com and freeipods.com....we're going all out here), make a post in this thread saying "I want to participate" in bold or something.

Can I still count as a referral to people if I'm already signed up and such?

If so, I want to participate | For iPod

I was in on the Freevideogames stuff.

For $200 and countless hours I netted:

A PS2 with online adapter/ATV 2
A Tungsten E Palm Pilot
A Nintendo Wavebird Controller
A 15 gig iPod
$100 in gift certificates.

Certainly made out like a bandit, but that site got slammed by FW so a lot of the good offers aren't around anymore. I imagine the site is cyclical but I think I'm done with it for now.

This site is run by Gratis network, so some WILL get their iPods/Flat screen monitors. The rub is that MOST won't. See, everyone who signs up needs to sign up five people. You'd be surprised at how fast those numbers add up. I would wager that even if it was set up fairly/correctly, anyone under person #20 wouldn't have a chance in hell at their item, and that' being generous.

Good luck if you can pull it, but imo you'd be better off doing the fvg stuff and waiting a few months until there have been enough new offers to get your iPod there. Pyramid SCHEMES DO work, just for the people at the top of the pyramid.

I Want to participate...both

I thought it's perfectly fine to sign up for both sites. That's what I've read several places. :/

(a) All users may have only one account at FreeiPods.com. A user may have an account at FreeiPods.com and also an account at one of the other Gratis Internet websites.

I've already finished both and am waiting for both to ship.

Conga lines take forever, I asked 5 co-workers and friends to do it for me and I was done in two days.
