Have you been keeping up with all the changes they've made to Dark Heresy's combat? Armor now acts as a secondary life bar and protects you from critical hits and injuries with some weapons like Meltas destroying armor faster while some weapon can ignore armor i believe. You can also target limbs now for varying effects.

Dang, top 5 games of all time!? I need to play this, apparently, hah! I own it, and in fact I think I fired it up for a bit, but only for like 30 minutes.

I'll add it to the pile of to-be-played.

I love WOTR but there are some things I really didnt like as well. I took me a long time to truly understand how to play it effectively. I would never recommend to a beginner of crpgs. Its definitely in my top 10, but the top 5 is hard to get into. DOS2 never clicked with me. I tried playing it twice. I do not like the Magic/Physical Armor system. DND5E as seen in BG3 is more to my liking. I know a lot of people consider it a downgrade over DND 3.5/Pathfinder 1E, but I dont mind the simplification.

Great CRPG and stratospheric introduction to 40K as a setting, but I would cut my fingers off rather than play it on a handheld.

Is rumored that Creative Assembly will show today a Total War: 40K game or a Total War: Star Wars.... I really hope is 40K
 
Just started playing Mechanicus, but I've always had my eyes on this. Is RT a lot more complicated than Mechanicus, for those of you who know? I found M (so far) so be pretty easy/chill to get in to, even for impatient bastards like me.

It's an entirely different type of game.
Mechanicus is a tactical game with separate missions/scenarios.
Rogue Trader is a story-driven big-ass CRPG in the style of Baldur's Gate, Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder Kingmaker, etc.

I think so. But I'm only a handful of missions into it yet. So far, though, nothing's been all that overwhelming, and I usually have zero patience for this genre. Still wanted to play it for the lore, music and atmosphere, and I'm glad I did.

Feels simple enough without too many stats/menues to care about, but there sure is a learning curve to the strategic thinking.
 
Lupin3 Lupin3 if you are liking Mechanicus another game more or less in the same genre that you would probably love is WH40K ChaosGate Daemonhunters.

It's basically "What if we do Firaxis XCOM but it's WH40K" and I liked it more than Mechanicus, frankly.

Mechanicus is fine like Battlesector is fine. Both are low budget strategy games that are worth a play but not all that memorable.

Rogue Trader is a RPG with a whole lot more meat on the bone. It's in a different class entirely and way more complex. Also superior to the aforementioned games IMO.
 
a gem of a game indeed and a must play for any serious cRPG fan, even more so Warhammer fans.

The world is the best recreation of the Warhammer universe to date. Certainly a lot more lore rich than Spacemarines
 
Love the game. I might pick up a physical version for S2 if it runs well even though I don't have a S2.

I picked up WotR for PS5 despite never planning to play it on that platform. Owlcat is one of my favorite devs.

Sounds perfect. It was actually already next in line to try out after Mechanicus. Couldn't decide which one to go with first, so the soundtrack had to make that choice for me.
