Aye, I'm only really bothered about the Tyranid gribbly beasts and the Terminators. Not a massive fan of these newer look primaris space marines.

It cost me 99p, I found it in a bargain bin when Game was in administration years ago.

Watched the first two episodes of The Tithes. Not too bad. I still think they animate the Space Marines a little too clunky (the Astartes fan film has ruined every single other animated version of them for me) but the stories for both episodes were okay. The female custodes was... fine, I guess? Zero difference with a male one, which renders the whole thing a little pointless to be honest. I liked the way the psykers realised how fucked they were at the last minute

The main thing is GW need to be producing more than they currently do.

And give your writers proper credit, you fucking ghouls.

Ok, I’m just about done the end and the death 3. Has been freaking amazing.

I used to 100% be in the camp that the emperor knew, and planned for this. Now I’m 50/50 on it. I’m going to get back to the Ghosts and Ciaphus next but definitely going back to some of the previous heresy books I jumped over.

Those are awesome! I love the multiple purples on the sheilds. Really adds depth. Clean basing too. My bases always look so sloppy by comparison.

I spent a few hours last night working on my sororitas. They are a tough set. Definitely a stretch for my skill level but fun just the same. My kid has finally decided to finish the tyranids that I put aside for her. I’m looking forward to having 3 combat patrols ready.

One thing I wish I could buy from gw is full 1000 or whatever boxes.

Oh well, still 3 audiobooks for the price of a beer is a good catch.

I'd read the first 3 books of HH. It's pretty downhill from there besides standalones and specific writers.

Dan Abnett is great, the first three books are a trilogy on their own. It was a very good read, although the Horus heel turn was rushed and cringe, imo

Have you read the Ciaphus books? I find them to be a refreshing in the world. They are funny but still hold the same dark under tone. The inquisitor books are pretty key to the ongoing story. Infinite and the divine is definitely a good read too even if you don’t like Necrons.

Gaunts ghosts is super great but dark as hell. The new lion book is pretty good, I finished it last night. Lots of questions in that one though and I’m not sure I like where this going but it could be really neat.

The way I started was I got the first 5 books of the heresy, loved them all, then swapped over to the seige of Terra series which is utterly fantastic.

I just bought the great work and helsreach. They are supposed to be good as well but I haven’t read them yet to weigh in personally.

You have a favorite faction? Might make it easier to recommend something.

Don’t look at the heresy book map either. It is 100% accurate but totally intimidating.

Anything read by Jonathon Keeble is bank though.

Eisenhorn.

Also book 4 of the Horus Heresy, The Flight Of The Eisenstein. The first 4 books follow each other before the series starts to branch out.

This is a great novel for stuff about Knight Worlds.

At the time, they figured the whole Heresy was only going to be a few books long, so there's a lot that's rushed in those first five or so books, that would have been stretched out a lot more had they known how many actual books it would end up taking.

Yep I remember reading they didn't plan for it to be this long.

It's a shame though, it was so good and all of a sudden everyone turns cold and become heels. Anyhow, I won't spoil, it's still a very good read. I like Abnett

Halfway through the Gaunt's Ghosts Omnibus and it's good stuff. Im enjoying the grittiness and plight that these soldiers undertake, underscored by the fact that they are the last people of a destroyed planet, making every death a near tragedy.

That being said, is there more of this kind of stuff to be found in Warhammer lore? I'm open to reading about the space Marines and other perspectives from the much more powerful aspects of this universe, but there is just something to being immersed in the stories of these fragile beings caught up in this nightmare. Hell, even civilian stories would probably be fascinating.

gaunts is great. Ciaphus books are also fantastic too. Hardly any Super soldiers.

I too like the regular people stories and how they make do in this world.
