"Goonies 2 "was one of the first ones asked. Cohen said he was contacted by Spielberg last year and though the pitch was "funny" but the suits at Warner Brothers aren't willing to play ball. While Donner, Spielberg and most of the cast are willing to jump on board, the company isn't willing to shell out the funds necessary. According to Cohen, there are other interested companies/investors willing to cough up the necessary cash but Warners owns the rights and is so far refusing to budge.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
*bends over*

Warner kiss it!

Didn't they just refuse to do 3 movies? Not the whole she-bang. Not to mention Speilber's interest, he should be able to do shit anywhere on demand.

No, they refused to do even the two movies but gave Jackson a period of time to shop the movies around and they'd give up the rights to whoever wanted to do it as long as the Wienstiens got producer credits on it.

Jackson was pitching the two movie version and New Line was the one who decided it should be a trilogy.

Ann Ramsey, Mamma Fratelli is dead

I remember reading what everyone thought was a script for G2, and it seemed really interesting. Something like Mikey was getting married, and all the goonies were coming back to the goon docks for the wedding, and Mikey owned some artifact shop in town and they had a character based on Chester Copperpots grandson or great grandson. It had to do with a Pirate again...

Also, I am surprised the WB said no. I mean if you have Spielberg who says, he I want to make it, then you say YES!!!

Good. It's kind of nice that Hollywood isn't doing the typical unoriginal thing by making a sequel to a move that isn't screaming for one.

Don't ruin a classic.

Ya, much better to go with the current trend by just remaking the original classic movie.

The ironic thing is that if Goonies came out in 1995 rather than 1985, it would have three direct-to-video sequels already.

I want an Explorers sequel! CG River Phoenix!
