The the top of the image with s-video inputs (PC & GC so far) is slightly pinched on this Toshiba 27" (replacement for dead tv).

With GC.. it only appears to be the top right of the image. Is there anyway to adjust this? Poor cables? TV issue?

Does this only happen with the s-video inputs? You should see if this happens with other inputs, if you haven't tried it already.

If this the warped picture still appears with over the air signals and other inputs, it's obviously your tv. I'd take it back and exchange it for another one if that's the case. What kind of Toshiba is that? Higher end models have adjustments for this type of thing in the menu... you might want to give that a shot as well.

It's only the s-video input so far.. I've tested a composite with the dvd player and it was fine.. Cable tv is perfect too, uses the whole tube no distorition.

It's the 27" Toshiba flatscreen (non-hdtv) version and I don't believe there are adjustments for what you mentioned in menu.

It kinda baffles me that GC games are fine except for the top right of the tube.. whereas the PC has both top portions distorted. I still think it might be the cables..

Yeah, that sounds like the cables. If you have any others around, swap them out and see if it makes a difference. Is your s-cable good quality? I've had shitty cables before, and noticed a big difference when I upgraded them.

Also double-check the pins in the S-Video cable if you haven't already.

I had a problem with my S-Video and took the TV in, only to have them tell me the TV functioned properly after them having it for a week.

I brought it home and set everything up and still had the same colouring and pinching problem.

Would have saved me some time and money had I realized that one of the pins had bent out of shape and wasn't connecting to the TV properly.

Hmm, the Panasonic model doesn't have forced 16:9 like the Toshiba has.. also seems to have about half the buttons on the remote (although I can't read what they're for). It does however have picture tilt management which the Toshiba does not.

Is the difference negligable? Another complaint I have with the Toshiba... is that the bright colors (reds/blues) are a little too strong.

Just to clarify, you've connected only your GC and PC with S-Video
and you've watched only DVDs and TV using all other inputs?
Did you try connecting the DVD-player using your S-Video cables?

Yes. Everything we've plugged into the S-video port (DVD, GC, PC) has been warped, using two different cables. And the earlier post the in the thread isn't completely true.. the GC no exibits warping on both sides as well with S-video.

I had the exact same problem with a 32" Toshiba four years ago, but I was using component inputs. When I exchanged it for another Toshiba, the new one was worse. I wound up getting a JVC.

Thanks.. I might just get the Panasonic then. :X

But I'll bring the cable with me to see if they'll test it on another new Toshiba (or at least the display model).
