Kids is one of the first movies I ever saw back when we got Premium cable years ago. I only caught the last 20-15 minutes. But that was sick shit. I don't wanna see it again but I kinda want to know the whole story. Was it all about
The white chick trying to tell her hispanic ex-boyfriend he gave her HIV
?

It's New York City teenagers misbehaving for two hours. It's violent and genuinely creepy.

Director Larry Clark meant it as social commentary. The film doesn't quite accomplish its goal.

She didn't find out about that until towards the end. You are right though, the rest of the movie is just as fucked up.

Most of the "actors" in that movie are professional East-Coast skateboarders. Casper actually ended up killing himself after the movie was filmed, if you watch it knowing that you can kinda see that he really is a fucked up dude.

I really dont see what was so shocking about the movie (except for the rape at the end) though, just everyday shit most kids/teenagers do.

I have a frind who's a skater. They look down upon roller bladers and usually kick their ass if they get looked at wrong.

Larry Clark is one of the few Directors that gets it. His observations of a segment of the teenage population are as accurate as they come. Kids and Bully were both awesome movies.

Doc Holliday

SPOILER: Columbus finds America
Telly was hispanic? He's a white guy in the movie i think. I remember seeing kids back when in HS and I thought holy shit this is the most realistic movie ever.

BTW casper killed himself in real life.

Err, that's the shocking part. It was one of the first films to expose people to what goes on in teen circles these days.

Kids was a good movie. But if you see it as a kid, it doesn't really have the impact you'd expect, b/c hey...you've seen that shit already. It does make life in NYC seem pretty cool though. PEACE.

I never saw Bully, I'll be sure to keep my eye open for it.

I thought Thirteen was even creepier and was a much better movie.
Not a bad movie, but Kids is creepier than it is by a mile. The filmmakers pulled a lot of punches with Thirteen, but then they had to because the actors were minors (not so in Kids).
