Was there ever a CowBoy Bebop box set released?

They have each session at DeepDiscountDVD.com for $23.96, and I figure for 5 (really awesome episodes) that's really good, however I would prefer a box set if possible. BTW, can someone recommend me some good Anime I might be able to get into? For reference Anime that I have seen that I loved was CowBoy Bebop obviously, Tenchi Muyo, Dragonball Z, Crest of the Stars, and from what I've seen what little of, SoulTaker; just to name a few.

There was a Bebop set, with a very nice box. However it was limited and you can't get it anymore.

Before everyone comes in and suggests tons of fansubs and obscure titles, you might want to look into Gungrave and Berserk (expect this one to be recommended a lot).

There was a boxset (released in the lunchpail box style that was also used for Escaflowne), but it was limited edition and sold out _a very, very long time ago_. It came with the only US release of OST1 (room which could be used to hold the movie volume) and generally goes for a shit-ton on ebay.

The amazon set is just a collection of the six volumes with a little bit of paper work covering it, as I recall, but hardly an official box of any sort.

EDIT: heh, late by a minute

The actual box set is very rare now and fetches over $300 I believe. You're best off just buying the individual sessions.

Amazon used to sell all six sessions bundled together in celophane wrapping for $100. I got it when they had it in stock a couple of years ago. This is "exclusive" celophane, mind you ;)

well not really...yet
I have that boxset, its pretty damn nice :)

Youre better off buying individual Discs. I dont think Bandai will re release the set, not even in a brick.

I guess I should point out that if you happen to find a Bebop set that comes in a fold out style case, that it is not a legit version and is a HK bootleg. Avoid it at all costs.

Really, I have it. Works fine for me and for 15 bucks too.

Wanna say it came out like 4 or 5 years ago? If i remember right it went through a pretty limited print run ~15000-20000. I actually went through 2 of these boxes because the first one, one of the discs cases the snap holder broke and scratched the disc to all hell heh. Really nice box imo, it's just cardboard (alot of LE's nowadays come tin, etc) but it holds the 6 TV discs + movie and the art is pretty slick.

Edit: 10909, that's my box number :D

I had the original boxset but do to some financial troubles I sold it on ebay for $300+.

Got the HongKong remastered FX bootleg set. Dam good for $25.00, if you are going bootleg go with the FX sets they are the best (most of the are US R1 rips).

I bought all my Bebop DVDs seperately, but I don't care because the girl at Suncoast was apparently so hot for me that she gave me disc 4 for free.

so is Cowboy Bebop The Perfect Sessions legit or not??

Everything looks legit to me. I bought it new from DVD Universe but now it looks like you can get it from Amazon for about $30.00 used.

If it's less than 6 discs, it's a bootleg.

I thought I had found the authentic Perfect Collection for $100 CDN...until I read this in the comment...

"Brand New, Sealed DVD Set With Complete Collection 26 Episodes. Total 3 dvd set Import edition"

The 3 dvd part kills it, right?

does the FX set have 5.1 sound like the perfect sessions?

I don't think so, but that is why it is only $30.00

Hello GAF, I love pirated anime and I hate actually supporting anyone who tries to bring anime out in my language. In fact I hate support anyone who actually wants money for entertainment! Please ban me before my obnoxious attitude pisses too many people off, thanks.

Fixed. :D

If anime bootlegs are illegal someone should tell Ebay and US customs becasue they aren't stopping them.

I would feel dirty owning a bootleg or rip of one of the best series ever.

I just wish someone would make a box to hold the dvds. Kinda like Newline is doing for the LOTR EEs, you can get the box for free, $3 shipping.

Anyone know if there is such a thing for the Cowboy Bebop dvds? Maybe a homemade one somewhere someone sells?

In my case I bought it from DVD Universe, I had no idea that it was bootlegged until today. Also, the real perfect sessions is out of print and goes for an astronomical amount of money used. Buying it used doesn't contribute to the creators either. Therefore, I don't feel bad about it at all.

Except for the little tiny fact that you can buy them new separately in a legitimate way.

The second half of this thread is disgusting.

But but but, if you buy it used, you're supporting the fan who owned it! Who will then surely spend it on more mediocre style-over-substance anime!

*crying purple thing*

Even if you buy used discs, the "no money is going to the creators" argument still still flawed when using it as a reason to support HK bootlegs. Sure, no money is going to the creators, but at least you're not helping support companies that steal the product and make money off it.

What if the seller stole it from the store?

Well since you're using stupid lets-make-up-the-extreme-assumptions crap then how about this:

The chance of buying a used-disc that was stolen from a store by the seller is STILL better than the chance of buying a HK bootleg where the distributor uses the profits to fund illegal activities such as and not limited to: prostitution, drugs, murder, rape, sex slave trading, kidnappings, assault.

So either way, there's no way to justify buying bootlegs. This entire discussion is ALSO moot because Cowboy Bebop's individual discs are NOT out of print and you can still buy them new. Don't buy used, don't buy bootlegs, buy them new because you can.

The perfect sessions boxset is so perfect. The art just embodies the series for me. But yeah, back when this was initially running low I was trying to get it and I never got my hands on it. Few years back. So I just got the series individually. I remember this website offering it as a prize for showing how big of a CB fan you were. I submitted some stuff but never being a HUGE CB fan I couldn't get it. A shame but I'll be damned if I'm setting up action figures, wallpapers, etc etc all around my room like some of em.

The 5.1 ch box packaging is so nice... R2 price is too much for me though, especially considering I already own the R1+Best sessions.. :(

Yeah, this is getting pretty ridiculous. It would be just as bogus for people to be talking in a thread about pirating games.

By the way synbios, Rightstuf.com is having a 40% off sale on Bandai DVDs this week, I would highly recommend you use the coupon on their front page and purchase the DVDs there if you're going through with it.

bootlegged anime is not illegal (in the US). Why would US customs inspect, tax and release illegal goods into the US?

online shops I like to use are:

Hey dude, listen up.

How is taking the region 1 DVDs which are licensed material owned in the US by a US company, including material created by a US company (all dub and sub tracks) and pressing them on other DVDs and then reselling that for 20 bucks legal? You tell me.

Is it also legal to rent the DVDs and burn em before returning them?

Burn AND sell in this case. :lol

It is not like you are getting a perfect copy of the US release (despite if the set is called perfect or not). All of them have compression artifacts, you are after all buying a knock off. You want top quality go with the legit stuff, you want something cheap go with bootlegs.

When I can't go online (to ebay or another US based retailer) and but HK sets I won't buy them.

You are not getting a perfect copy but a cheap knock off. You get less quality but you get it for less money.

Now I have seen websites get shut down for selling real R1 DVD burns, so there must be a legal distinction that you and I are not aware of.
