Watch Dogs 2 PC performance thread

Why is Ubi such shit?

I really can't decide.........would this run better on my 4790k & R9 Nano, or the Pro. Looks like the Fury X is only just over 30fps as a minimum framerate at 1080p, my nano, although running at 1050mhz will come in a little lower than that, but then thats with stuff at Ultra whereas Pro is what, High setting, could i get it running at 60 on High / Very High?

Surely a Fury X should be outperforming a 480, are the AMD drivers used in the benchmark optimised for the game?

PCGH will update the benchmarks with new driver results soon.

Meanwhile heres some GameGPU results. Fury X and Nano put up a much better showing:

Welp, Origin just charged me and I totally forgot I grabbed this during that price error.

Not sure it was really worth it all things considering :V

I skipped through most posts in this thread and haven't read the Nvidia article, but this seems to be extremely demanding for no good reason? A GTX 1070 to hit a locked 60FPS on Ultra settings at 1080p? What is this game doing that's so technically demanding to warrant such performance? If I recall, The Division ran mostly stable 60FPS at 1080p on Ultra settings on a GTX 1060.

*Ultra settings exclude HFTS for both games.

I uninstalled Geforce Experience and reinstalled the 375.95 without it and I'm getting better performance than with the new 376.09 drivers. I don't usually use new drivers but I thought I might as well this time. Never again.

Still locked for me on Uplay. *sigh*

That's okay though, looking at these benchmarks makes my 2GB 770 cry so much.

Still locked for me, Samsung code West Coast.

Has anyone with a samsung code unlocked?
Guys/gals, go to where it's installed, go into the BIN folder and just open the Watchdogs2 exe from there, BOOM works! I just happened to go to see what APPID it was for launching with steam big picture and it worked.

lol I can only install it to my c drive on origin. Switching drives seems to break Origin and I dunno how to get around this issue.

Edit: I can just put the cd key in Uplay instead. Win.

TXAA is a no no on my 980ti, unless you want to play at 30fps with frame skipping. Use SMAA or Temporal Filtering which also enables MSAAX2 by default, you will get MUCH better performance.

Getting around 90 fps with everything maxed out... That will do lol

So I guess there's no Zodiac DLC if you got an NVIDIA code?

I've been playing for an hour. Everything on ultra (even for the options that go higher), no SF fog, hbao+, TXAA2 (no post AA, the TXAA alone cleans things up really good) @1080p. Flawless 60fps so far. It seems very well optimized. They have to know this engine in and out by now.. GTX 1080, 4790k.

I uninstalled it too (just now), but I got a steam refund because I wasn't pleased with the performance. Might buy it again some other time when it receives additional patches/improvements.
yes, I can. I took one earlier.. but I don't use big picture mode.

edit - they fixed the high res texture download on steam. downloading them now.. 5.6GB

Good. It was about time.

Hmmm, the game isn't recognizing my Xbox One controller at all, even after restarting a few times and making sure everything is updated. Never had this issue with any other game before, but this is my first U-play game. Has anyone come across this? I really hope I'm a moron and missing something obvious here... I hope :-)

Got kicked out to the main menu after doing the tutorial. Seems it is tied with downloading the high res texture pack - game sees it as part of a "global install" and doesn't let you proceed until it is finished I think. Oh well, back to it tomorrow. Enjoying it so far.

Is 4k 30 possible on a single GTX 1070?

Native? No
Temporal? Yes

On my 1070 I'm able to hit 4k(temporal)/30 and 1440p(temporal) + 1.2 pixel pixel density/60 with the following settings.

Geometry: V.High
Extra Detail: 0%
Terrain: Ultra
Vegetation: Ultra
Textures: Ultra
AF: Ultra
Shadows: V.High
Headlight: 2 cars
Water: High
Reflections: High
Screenspace Reflections: OFF
Fog: On (not encountered yet)
DoF: On
Motion Blur: On
Bloom: On
AO: HBAO+
AA: SMAA

The game looks good.

4k (downsized to1440p, original 4k screen capture was 17mb, too big for abload)

1440p + 1.2 pixel density

Not sure how to help, but the Xbox One controller (wireless) is working fine for me. Sorry, man. Make sure it's on and connected before starting the game, maybe?

You know what, my aging rig runs this okay.

i5 2500K @ 4.4
2GB GTX 770
8GB RAM
Running off a Samsung SSD (The reason I have the game at all)

Set it to high, turned on temporal filtering, and I've been between 45-60 at all times. Now, normally I'd be upset about being below 60 at all, but the game looks good and the motion blur seems well implemented enough to not cause me to hate being so low FPS-wise.

That being said, I can't wait to get my 1070 at Christmas.

Game runs well on 6900k 1080 sli @ 1440p. About 80-90 fps (Gsync) 80% usage on each gpu, 375.96 driver. 20mg Indica.

By far the superior version. Played a few missions on PS4 pro already.

I double checked that and it's all working. I am using the Bluetooth version though so maybe that's it. I'll try plugging straight in and see. Thanks tho!
