I am finding it very difficult to be stealthy in this game. Seems they really want you to go the stealth route and not use weapons... but it's hard.

Always goes like this.

- Start the mission
- Go into red zone, and no-one knows I'm there....yet
- Hack a few guys, create a distraction, knock out a few dudes...etc
- Suddenly one guy fucking spots me from a mile away and... "ALERT ALERT, CALL REINFORCEMENTS!"
- I get flooded with guys running at me shooting.
- Shoot everyone until the area is clear.
- Hack the objective.
- Leave the site.
- Mission Complete.

I would just once love to complete a mission without it ending in a shoot-out :( Also the gun-play is very weird, it's very difficult to aim.. I wish there was a separate sensitivity for aiming weapons.

I've only just started the game on the first mission but there's a dude on the top level of an area, alone on that floor and he spots me with a gasp and within a blink of an eye and the entire fucking levels AI goes into red alert.

Bu...wh..how?!

Yeah the omnipresent AI makes stealth far from perfect. One guard spots you and instantly the entire base is on alert and knows where you are with pinpoint accuracy.

I also don't really like how they can spot you through even the tiniest of cracks in a wall or floor, there's zero leniency.

I try to use my gadgets as often as possible, because trying to sneak through an area and get spotted after 20 minutes and see all your work go down the drain because of the wonky AI is infuriating.

It feels like the stealth isn't suppose to be made without the Quadcopter and the Jumper. Like they purposely deteriorate the good stealth present in Watch_Dogs in order to push the use of drones. At first I was frustrated, but now I have a lot of fun sneaking with drones. But I can understand that people don't like it and regret the stealth from WD.

Yeah, it's a shame they don't make the AI actually communicate your location. Everyone acts like some special enemy type that sends your location to their allies the second they see you. There should be a gap between detection and mass detection.

It's OK as it is but it's hard to rectify fuckups.

I don't really get why push for stealth and then make AI as trigger happy as these guys, security guard sees you trespassing on a parking lot? Open fire and call in reinforcements, that seems to be their response for everything which is a shame. They could have at least made it so that the guards don't attack you right away and just ask for you to leave first, i get them breaking the drones and whatnot but how they act towards you is just ridiculous.

I guess I need to change my mindset regarding stealth in this one.

Coming from MGS, Splinter Cell, Thief, Styx and other stealth induced games, this one needs an entirely different approach. I don't like relying on my drone or jumper in order to finish missions in red zones, but I guess I do not have any other choice.

Completely agree. MGS and Splinter Cell are on a whole other level.( Styx 2 looks ace btw I think it comes out next year. )

In those games you listed, say if a guard comes towards you while you're hiding in a corner. You silence pistol him to the head before he gets to call in. You can move the body (in most stealth games). Perfect, undetected, move on to the next.

Nope, not Watch_Dogs 2.Completely hidden and took out a guard silently without anyone noticing? BOOM fucking suddenly everyone knows where you are.

It's like all the guards are rigged together with some type of GPS thing that can detect when a guard is dead and sends that location to everyone ....because in some situations it should be impossible to know where I am. I love this game(check my previous post, my goty, first plat trophy) but yea it forced me to approach it differently in ways I like and didn't like.
Just don't forget, grind a bit for those perks :)

Starting to realize this too. I think the game doesn't really want you to stealth through a restricted area with Marcus, it pushes you to instead use your drones. I guess those are fun too but it would have been nice to use Marcus too, splinter cell style.

The AI is also insane like everyone is saying. Detection time is like immediate and they stay firing. I understand it's not really realistic in other games how long it takes to get spotted and how forgiving stealth mechanics generally are, but it makes stealth actually fun to play. Stealth in this game is just not fun, at least for me so far.

They really should have had that timer thing like when a civilian calls the cops.

Also the melee animations can take forever when you have multiple guards on your tail . But yeh I tend to just use the gyro and gang hit / cause chaos which is obviously how they want you to play it .

Still yet to Kill anyone (with a gun) and I think that's why I love this game so much . I hope they take out all weapons for number 3 (will keep the stun gun though :) )

In a way it makes sens that guards are instantly alerted in the always connected world of Watch_Dogs. :D

But yeah it's not a good thing gameplay wise.

Does using a drone even count as stealth? It's basically just bypassing 90% of the obstacles most of the time.
I think that it count yes. With the quadricopter it's mostly scouting and doing no-physical hacking. If there is something to pick-up or a physical hacking (and it's the case in a lot of mission), the Jumper have the same detection issue than with Marcus (full aggro of the zone, omsniscient guards). But since it has a better mobility and it's easier to hide with it, it's way less painfull. But I could be wrong on how to see it as stealth. Maybe we can call it remote infiltration.

Just randomly stumbled across donut man who was getting picked on by some guys so I beat em up and got a photo with him.

So much great random stuff happens when you just walk around . I loved gta5 for similar reasons but I feel more happens randomly in this game.
While I was flying the drone around, some woman started randomly beating me up. I just kind of ran circles around her until the cops showed up, arrested her, put her in the back of the police car, and drove off.

I got curious though, and stayed for the whole thing. Two cops showed up in one car, they both got out, one handcuffs her, puts her in the back of the car, and drives off without the other cop. I followed him around, but he never went back to a police station. Just kind of drove randomly with that woman in the back of the car.

I most definitely found a strategy to have marcus be more active while remaining stealthy without relying on your quadcopter and jumper. The only time i used my drone is to tag enemies to see where everyone is. After that i don't use any environmental traps or gadgets as they all draw attention

I am pretty far along in the story, my wife being a manger means she takes work home a lot this time of year which gives me nights to play I normally do not, and I have to say I am really, really enjoying my time spent with this game, and it definitely gets better the longer you play.

As someone mentioned on this page, relying on the drone and RC car for the stealth takes a bit of getting used to as it goes against our instincts taught in other stealth games, but once you do, it becomes a pretty unique experience and one that has finally clicked for myself. I too was not able to stealth earlier missions, but now I am able to do so. It is pretty damn fun once it clicks.

I also have to say the story-line itself is pretty in sync with modern times. So much so it is a tad scary tbh.

One of my personal favorites of the year. Playing on a PS4 Pro.

Not sure if its a pc glitch, but the ambulances drivers always get out of their vehicle, then go back in and drive away, never bothers reviving npc casualties lol.

Weird that it seems like they completely ditched 'last position seened' that splinter cell basically pioneered and ubisoft been using in most recent assassin creed, heck I think even in watch dogs 1?

I believe they try to arrest you first when you stand still while being detected. The guard will come close and tells you to put your hands up, at which point you can melee them (if there's nobody else around).

There is a key prompt to physically interact with things using the jumper. Same key that Marcus and the jumper use to physically hack things. That is the same key used to pick things up with the jumper.

I am not getting that prompt right now unupgraded, you only get it after getting Enhanced Spring then?

Um, I was pretty sure it was there from the start. I don't recall having to do anything extra. Have you been able to hack using the jumper yet? Try the button without any prompt when you are near the item?

I'm not sure if we actually have to spoiler what we are talking about. But also post a link to a screenshot if you can.

Has anyone been able to find a vomiting person in the game?

There is a guide to the best location to find them. Its near a bar on a boardwalk. I fast traveled near it and it took me about 90 seconds to run into someone who was throwing up. Look around bars if you can.

Looks like the Twitch Prime unlock won't work unless you run the game through uPlay despite all the other preorder stuff working through Steam

hope Ubi fixes it

Oh, there was no prompt on screen but pressing E worked.

Thanks!

I feel utterly bewildered by just about everything in this game and I've played a pretty decent amount trying to figure the game out. I have no idea how to play because the stealth is bad and feels impossible and everyone in a 5 mile radius opens fire on you instantly for just trespassing. I've just bought a big assault rifle and full auto shotgun and have tried the shooting out and it also isn't very fun and goes against everything in the writing. Slaughtering a dozen security guards just to hack something to exact societal justice seems completely ridiculous.

Not being able to pick up anything with the drone sucks. All the money bag and research point hunts are an enormous chore. Run around a building looking for a way up and most of the time there is no way up. Several times I've picked up something with a forklift and climbed on top of the picked up thing and it feels like I'm cheesing my way up. One of the points I was trying to get was in a room with literally no doors or openings for the RC car. Maybe I can eventually unlock the ability to walk through walls because it's the only way I can think of how to get to it.

I have had fun once and it was by messing with a random AI pedestrian. Aside from that I am constant state of confusion and not having any fun at all. This is the second time I've asked people here and my friends, "how the hell do you play this game?" I just don't get anything at all. It's got infinitely more personality then the first game but I am having about as much fun as the first game which is to say basically no fun at all.

Start making use of the drones more. You should get the quadcopter ASAP. Don't enter shoot outs because those suck and Marcus will die quite easily especially with enemies calling backup. There are a handful of times when Marcus will need to be at an objective himself but there are a ton of times when using the RC car or quadcopter will be a better choice.

If you need to get someplace high for key data or research points then there is pretty much always something that will be in the area to help you get up high. You will need to make use of the quadcopter a few times as well. Getting high items is a puzzle in itself at times. The RC car can pick stuff up. Its the same key that Marcus uses to physically hack or that the RC car physically hacks. Only the quadcopter cannot pick stuff up. The forklift shouldn't feel like "cheesing" because that is the intent. Forklifts and cherry pickers are part of puzzles to get higher up to get things or to reach new areas that you normally can't for some objective whether it be for a waypoint or a collectible item. Can't say much about the room with no opening. There was probably a way in higher up like a vent that drops into the room. If you post a photo of the area or place you want to get in we might be able to help but there most likely is some way inside.

Am I crazy or is there really no way to export your selfies? Apart from hiding the UI and sharing your screenshot on PS4?

I really don't like how areas in the world or certain collectibles can only be got once you've upgraded or unlocked enough things. Watch Dogs 1 didn't have that.

...and we're done.

My first platinum ever too, yea it was easy but I never care about trophies so getting this was a little special. I always thought Fallout 4 would be my first plat.

-65 hours
-around %92 total completion (story + extras)
-All ScoutX done (probably one of the best things in the game, San Fran in this game is beautiful and so detailed).

Time for FFXV, not deleting Watch_Dogs 2 though. Will def pop in from time to time to fuck around.

Goodnight San Francisco <3
Did you take a selfie with dogs humping in the background? The game isn't done until this has been accomplished. :)

This is one of my frustrations, I want to actually "play the game" not just use a quadcopter or jumper to complete objectives.

Such a shame too since the writing and side missions ARE SO MUCH FUN :(

I didn't haha but I was walking around and heard a guy get hit by a car. Turns out he was just walking his dog...poor guy died..but what happened next was almost made me cry.

The dog didn't just go off, he slowly looked at the body, sniffed it...whined then laid down next to the body as the medic was saying the guy was dead. I decided to take a picture and then boom, I got fucking photobombed.

Yeah, I hated the characters and writing in W_D1, but I enjoyed the heck out of the gameplay (watch dogs and sleeping dogs are still my favorite gameplay in a open world).

It's a bit reversal in this lol.

Still a huge missed opportunity at not designing the game to make 'parkour loving' marcus better at climbing. They really should have assassin's creeded the world up a bit.

Having to use one of those rising thingies to get up to areas is really lame lol.

You can still put up 'barriers' that require hacking as well.

Oh I've had fun in this game. The attention to detail is excellent. Shame I've had a few ctd's. Could be I have MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner running.

Anyway, made a car lose control. It hits someone who promptly dies. Ambulance and Police are called. Paramedic says "DOA, I'll check for details" and the Police arrest the driver and put him in their Police car. Oh and the accident victim? Says "frequent traffic accidents" on their Ctos data. Lots of nice touches like this.

I started following the police after an arrest once but I stopped after a while because I wanted to do a mission. I wonder if they actually drive all the way to the station

Yeah. Why no option to give them money? Or anyone for that matter.

or do anything decent really lol. I guess you can emote, but having the option to like dial 911 once you accidentally hit someone, or donate some cash to some homeless would be nice.

It's weird they completely ditched the 'good/bad meter' from the first game. Should have built on that.

I expected as much, but the Mr. Robot guy seems completely disinterested on this stream. Plus, they have to keep telling him the same controls over again.

Looks like he's just chill. He even said it would be a nice game to put on a party so people can just pick up and play.
He doesn't really play games too.

Mr. Robot DLC please.

Man, I remember when you first posted this. I shared it with the team and we were very glad to see this feature really paid off for us. Really happy you've enjoyed it :)
Yes, I am one of the many devs who worked on this great project.
