Watch_Dogs 2 |OT| .HTML

Bit of a random question but is there a way to disable to auto join co-op missions? I've only done 3 missions and all of them were matchmade with random co-op peeps even though I held the "back" button to cancel the search. Then all of them just ran in guns blazin instead of taking the stealth approach that I was doing.

I had a quick look in the options but couldn't see much! Is it just part of the game when you go to a mission it auto starts co-op?

What's the easiest way to get money?

Just drive around looking for the little blue dollar signs on the map. They pop up when you're nearby. These are like 'gang hideouts'. Each will usually net you $18,000-19,000. I broke $100,000 in no time doing those.

Maybe it's just me.. but I feel like the in game population of civilians and cars had increased with 1.06

When I started the game, streets seemed barren, now I see cars and people everywhere....

stupid question but can i not manually save? if not how do i know when the game saves? i'm worried each time i log out incase i lose progress because i don't know when the game last saved.

anyway, i'm starting to get into the game now. i'm enjoying just exploring. i love that there is no pressure to do the main quests. a lot of games make you feel like you need to go do it and wait for a certain point before you are free to explore. i mean in terms of roleplaying. for example in GTA V you might be about to do a heist and if you are just driving about playing tennis, scuba diving, or whatever else it can feel wrong and out of place but with Watch Dogs 2 you can just go at your own pace and it doesn't feel off. i'm not sure if that makes sense.

in the first game i only really focused on the main quest but i think i'll take my time and make this last as long as i can.

Can I just say the ability to hack other players' cars (e.g. force them to brake to a halt, or spin into walls) is the most OP and unfair thing in the game's ambient multiplayer stuff.

I've won the last three Bounty Hunts I was in because I just forced their car to stop and shot them in the face - or battered it 'til it was nearly exploding then spun it into a wall.

I've won the last two Invasions I did because I just walked casually like a pedestrian while making random cars on the road (parked or moving) suddenly start driving at high speed, and watching the Invade-ee follow the vehicle in confusion. It's the ULTIMATE distraction and completely throws the other player off your trail.

Yep, love this about the game too.

Re saving, I tend to go into the Game Settings app and quit back to main menu just to be sure it saved. The save icon is like the Watch Dogs logo animated in the top right. I realised yesterday that I was collecting some money bags/collectibles I'd DEFINITELY already collected.

are melee attacks always lethal?

A developer said it just knocks them out.

But it often looks like straight up murder.

Believe what you want to believe.

I believe the former.

I never had this problem even pre-patch. The game always seemed pretty well populated to me. You get moments where it's quieter but plenty where there are people everywhere, too.

Finished the game last night and I enjoyed my time with it. Nice improvement over the first game.

That said, I really wish they would have came up with another hacking mechanic for 2. I've never liked the pipe mini game, I just find it so tedious.

Just finished it!

I don't think I'll bother with the online stuff, because I don't particularly like dealing with other people or random events.

Overall: Very solid. But it got repetitive and a bit stale as I got near the end. Too much hacking terminals and using drones.

Pros:

Really good city
Lots to do
Even the bike and kart races -- despite mediocre physics -- are fun
Good cast of characters
Hipster vibe is surprisingly not annoying
Good side content
Interesting story with a relatively satisfying conclusion
Good parallels to modern world/homages to other pop culture items

Cons:

Missions rely on hacking too much
It doesn't feel right to shoot people
Not enough main mission variety at times
Gets bogged down near the end

I miss the run button being on the right trigger. I miss digital trips. I miss the QR puzzles. I miss privacy invasions. I miss chess puzzles. I miss towers. I miss online tailing.

On the plus side, I don't miss Aiden.

I do miss Aiden's cool slow walk hands in pockets animation though.

Honestly, I had 0 interest in the online stuff, but inadvertently got yanked into several encounters in the last few days.

It is really, really fucking good. Like some of the most engaging and cunning online gameplay I've had in ages. Two players using the wide breadth of hacking tools to outwit each other is really engaging and so, so fun most of the time, even if you lose. The world also reacts to all players realistically/equally, so you'll get one player chased by gangs who are chased by cops and one player not being chased hacking from a distance, etc.

Seriously, seriously give it a try.

Bounty hunter thing only come up when a player has a police level 3 or higher
Or if a player put a bounty on his head. When I don't find someone to hunt, I put a bounty on my head. It's fun and can make a lot of points if you kill a few bounty hunters.

I looked at the leaderboard on PS4 and some people are really into it. Like 45k+ points for the hacking, that's crazy.

I haven't done any co-op mission yet, any feedback on it?

i've found using a drone to follow the pipe mini game path way easier than fiddling with cameras in the area.

I remember going into the first game thinking "I'm going to turn off the invasions, I don't want to deal with that." Then I got invaded by someone who accidentally got the police on their tail while I used the blackout hack and made a mess of the entire situation. Completely sold from that point on.

Similarly, I came into W_D2 wondering if I'd be in the mood to deal with any of the online stuff this time around, yet I find myself straight up GIDDY to chase Bounty targets, and a lot of the funniest moments I've seen in the game so far have been a result of Invasions gone wrong. The fact that the city systems hold up to multiple players screwing around with them is very impressive. I love how gangs and police are still a factor for everyone involved.

Online hacking was amazing in WD1 and other than the lack of online taiking I expect the same from 2. I've had a few people invade me so far, all unsuccessfully. I just use the flying drone and search that way. Hasn't let me down yet. As for hacking myself I had 1 go last night, won and it was fucking hilarious.

By all accounts it should have been the dumbest hack and easiest defence for the guy ever. I hacked him.....on top of the goddamn bridge. He was just driving along and I initiated the hack in a place I had nowhere to run and hide because we were up on the bridge lol. But he fucked himself and somehow accidentally killed himself before he could see me directly in front of him. In the time it took him to make his way back up to the bridge we were on, I found a little ladder on the side of the bridge that headed down so I went down it and hid in a little place under the bridge. He never found me. So what started as the dumbest hack possible somehow worked out, and it was amazing.

Finished it last night and really enjoyed it through and through.

I mentioned this in another post but the overarching story is very barebones ironically enough it works just fine and i think its a large part as to why the characters are as likeable as they are. Each missions feels quite self contained where the whole thing feels like a sitcom in video game form. I approached each mission feeling like, ok what are these wacky rag tag group of kids going to get themselves into now and it worked brilliantly and it doesn't get bogged down under the weight of itself because all they want to do, mission to mission, is to strengthen their brand and raise public awareness to all of blumes shenanigans. The characters are the story and it was great to see an open world game take this approach and successfully pull it off.

I know people have a lot of disdain for Mafia 3 but narratively i think their both quite similar in that their stories are one note and everything you do contributes to that. In Mafia 3 you're taking down Mercano's organization to get revenge. In WD2 you're exposing blume in order to boost Dedsec followers. Neither game elevates into anything more or changes into something different. Mafia 3's obvious downfall was that the gameplay was one note as well.

There's so much to like about the game. The characters, the world, the activities, the clothes, hell- i even loved the way they grouped your xp so that everytime you level up your amount of followers, you were always getting a bunch of points instead of just 1. This made leveling up feel rewarding because it pretty much meant theres was something you could invest in everytime you leveled versus if you were getting 1 point every level, you end up stockpiling them until you have enough to get what you want.

There are however 3 things that i hated pretty much the entire game. The weapon wheel, the gunplay/combat and the cop chases. I hate that the weapon wheel requires you to take your hand off the left thumbstick to use it. It makes switching weapons in the heat of the moment very frustrating. The gunplay/combat in general is pretty bad. Marcus is quite fragile which i'd be fine with if it werent for the fact that the weapons feel weak and the AI is super aggressive and omnipotent if things go tits up. The cop chases are just awful. They just don't let up. IIRC, there are two missions that force you into cop chases and the two of those missions alone were so awful that it has me questioning if i even want to go through the game again from the beginning.

I haven't done any co-op mission yet, any feedback on it?
Co-op is fun. 99% of the people i've played with (PS4) will make a valiant attempt to do things stealthy. I never let people join my game, i've always joined someone elses and i've met a lot of people who seemingly don't have as many abilities as I do or just don't have a strategic way to approach the compounds so when i'm doing my thing taking out like half the building on my own, people have deferred to me to take the lead on future missions even though im in their game and willing to play however they want to play. So overall people seem to be very cooperative

My only complaints with co-op is that sometimes you'll get disconnected from a person just as you start a mission for whatever reason and that the cop chases are even more annoying than usual because you and you're partner can have seperate wanted levels even if you're sitting in the same car. I've had a couple of situations where i was driving during a cop chase and have managed to have my wanted to go from "escaping" to "vanish" only to drive by a cop on the next block and have it shoot back up because "the police have engaged your partner in combat"

60 fucking hours and I am still finding a bunch of new things.
Co-op is fun but I very quickly shifted back to focusing on single player.

Pretty much cleared everything I wanted. Just 10 ScoutX locations left.
Got all trophies except two of them, the 5 Bounty kills (at 2) and the buy 25 cars one.

Again, I've said it many many times: my GOTY 2016.

Optimistic that the new patch this week will help MP out on PC version. From what I've experienced personally so far the PC MP is similar to the state of the console versions when it first slowly started to actually work.

As best I can tell, when you first load up the game it is possible to stay connected to Ubi servers. Then you can do bounty hunts / invasions (for one instance) and after that - constant "unable to connect to Ubisoft servers. Please try again."

The online aspects were my favorite part of WD1. Nothing else quite like it so hoping it gets fixed as well on the PC side.

Incredibly impressed by the PC version.

Except I'm confused by the controls. I usually play games where I have to aim with keyboard and mouse, but how does stealth work with keyboard movement? I'm crouched, and I don't know how to move any slower than I am in the tutorial. The guard hears me moving when I'm crouched and moving at default speed.

Is a controller going to be pretty much required for stealth?

Edit: Oh, hold CTRL. Meh, as great as the mouse + keyboard controls are, I'm probably just gonna play with a controller.

What a fucking joke. Not to mention that the game comes with only shitty russian localization in RU / CIS region. FUCK YOU, UBISOFT!

No way to just download a language pack?

wish it was easier to get scoutx camera up. soo many menus.

Also not a fan of 'weakening' a more aggressive approach. combat felt so much better in w_d1 (some of the best gunplay in an open world imo). You are pretty much forced to stealth this time.

btw: how do you get an enemy out of the ! alert state? accidentally alerted everyone in the scientology camp and escaped but they never deescalated. Ended up just restarting from checkpoint.

You don't. Once they know you are there they will be in alert status forever. Even if you run and break line of sight they still know your position at all times.

Pretty stupid.

For anyone wondering how to save your progress, quitting to the menu didn't work for me. I read the best way to save is to fast travel to a clothing store and to change your outfit.

It is annoying, but dogs alerting everyone of your location to be even more annoying.

wish those environmental traps were more quiet. Like I shocked a dude and apparently EVERYONE heard it.

Game seems to give you a lot of options, while most seem to just make it harder for ya than help lol.

I'm just upgrading my gang attack ability and keep spamming that lol.

How can I disable only co-op? I really like the hacker invasions and bounties but I hate having random people drop into my side missions and wreck my perfect stealth runs.

I'm on the PC version.

I completely agree. I am still playing both Mafia III and WD2, and they are both really engaging games. And, there are certain things that I can do in Mafia III that I wish I could do in WD2 and vice versa. For example, in Mafia III, the enemy detection system is slightly less punishing, which makes taking the time and effort to use stealth takedowns more enjoyable.

Man, thought I'd be able to play FFXV but this tooth extraction has me loopy as fuck.

Pretty much just running around getting all ScoutX pics. This game is so much fucking fun to just lay back and relax.
Light weight, I had 3 wisdoms taken out at once, had delusions of grandeur and thought family were conspiring against me and still watched a kung fu marathon after playing infamous first light.

Police in this game are the WORST.

Accidentally bump into someone on the street in front of a cop? They will shoot you right away!
Accidently de-holster your weapon and cop sees? They will shoot you on sight!
Gang members start shooting you? Cops will randomly come and start shooting you!

And why is it so hard to evade the cops, they just randomly appear after every corner.

Other than that I am having fun so far. PC version runs well.

And yet you can force a Vehicle to hit a Cop car and they will arrest them

I played on PS4 but can't confirm but is it not in the same place as turning off bounty or invasion when you go into game settings? I thought co-op, bounty and invasion all had separate toggles in the game menu.

Completely agree. This is one aspect of the game that they need to tweak. Not sure who thought this was ok. It should be appropriately challenging not ridiculous.

Pretty stupid.

Mass disrupt comms hack will put hostiles in search status (question mark above their head).

Skills that will make games a lot easier:

- Fully upgraded RC tree
- Fully upgraded IED tree
- Mass vehicle hack
- Mass comm hack
- Botnets
- Blackout skill for invasions

I was playing yesterday with an fps around 60 on ultra, today when i jumped in my framerate is 20-30fps with the same settings and turning everything down to low doesn't help the framerate at all. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Check your clocks for GPU and CPU see if they are unusually low

I'd get a lot more stuff done in Watch_Dogs 2 if I wasn't spending five minutes listening to the main menu music every time I boot up the game.

You don't have to use the ScoutX app; just bring up the phone camera. If there's a ScoutX objective in frame, the little ScoutX message will show up in the top-left to let you know, and it'll register properly without having to go to the app. Easy peasy. This also works with drone cameras, by the way. Sometimes Josh will even note your drone pic in the ScoutX comments.

Re: online, I actually don't mind the online stuff as much as I thought I would, but I ended up turning most of it off anyways for one reason. Sometimes I'll be in the middle of a mission or just minding my own business, and then as soon as someone joins, you basically have to go balls out and cap everyone in sight. Chaos is definitely fun in its own way, especially when it's some random person you friended a while back and neither of you know what the hell you're doing, but it's such a complete break with how I normally play the game that I prefer to box that stuff off and only opt into it when I want it.

Been playing this like crazy, but I keep getting distracted by how close it is to real life and making things like this and taking selfies it's a damn in-game addiction. Oddly enough I hate taking selfies in real life, so idk wtf is wrong with me here. ^_^;

I'm never going to beat this game at this rate lol

oh never knew that! sweet! Still have to scroll all the way to the bottom for camera though, unless there is a short cut?

Seems more accurate than Chicago was in the first. I was really let down how my home city was handled in WD1.

I never use the camera in any other game but in WD2 I love taking pics of civies to see their reactions. It helps that you can move while you use the camera so you don't have to back out to move closer and change angles if you need to.

Anyone know how to get the research point at Lombard street?

Off the top of my head I would guess that it is possibly underneath on a path that is intersecting Lombard. Maybe a screenshot with and without hacker vision? I can't remember where exactly that one way.
